Sounds fine. I hope the prescription doesn't come across as too simple. When all's said and done, it boils
down to:
1. Confront reality and craft a vision/solution/strategy
2. Have or gain CEO's active support
3. Develop autonomous, compelling leadership
4. Hire innovators, support team, and go-betweens (to facilitate implementation)
5. Fire or work around "blockers"
6. Do good, radical work that is economically/socially/mission defensible
7. Always speak in the vernacular of the business, even when recommending change
8. Put the customer/client/citizen first, absolutely
9. Build on success after success
The Lockheed Skunk Works had 14 rules promulgated by its founder, but they boiled down to the same (with
additional emphasis on keeping internal commitments and always being on time).
Much like "innovation": there are a thousand theories, but one way to do it that gets repeated over and over
again.
