2. United Nations Organization
has been taking active part in
socio-economic development
of Pakistan. Since 1940s, UN
has been serving Pakistani
people through two score of its
organizations. There is huge
shortage of environment-
friendly houses and offices in
the country. Houses and
buildings must be built on
climate technology to save fuel
and greener environment.
After the 2005 earthquake,
there is still not a climate
compatible city in Pakistan.
United Nations Environment
Program in collaboration with
FPCCI must establish UN Cities
in Gilgit-Baltistan, FATA and
Balochistan. UNEP can
collaborate with State Bank of
Pakistan and World Bank to
build 3-marla and 4-marla
houses for people living below
the poverty line. UN Cities will
improve local construction
industry and boost economic
activity. Expertise earned can
be replicated in countries of
the South.
