La resistencia activa se define como no dejarse someter o conquistar por otra persona o grupo, como lo demostró la tribu araucana que opuso resistencia a los españoles durante 300 años defendiendo su pueblo y tradiciones, mientras que otras tribus como los incas y aztecas fueron conquistados; algunas tribus lograron evitar la conquista luchando para proteger su gente y costumbres.
