3. Oral English should be at the heart of the learning process in all
British curriculum lessons
It is expected that students use English in lessons where the teaching
medium is English.
An expectation of correct English must be made to promote high
standards.
Teachers provide positive, selective oral feedback and correction.
Teachers provide opportunities within lessons for students to use oral
English in their learning
The oral English activity guide is to be referred to by teachers when
planning lessons.
Teachers praise good usage using the English rewards procedures
(including use of Student diary)
Teachers incorporate Oral English assessment opportunities into their
programmes of study and lessons, providing constructive feedback to
students.

environment and decide what type of language is
most appropriate for a given context.
Our students are expected to speak and write
accurately at all times.

of offensive language, regardless of the situation.

their study and use of languages, both written and
spoken.
Our students are encouraged to read in order to
expand the scope of their language.
