• Heard without having to spell it out
• Shorter is always better
• Two or three words concatenated

• Follow people before trying to DM/Tweet to
them
• Use Twitter daily – but don’t obsess about it
• Make sure you have your privacy settings the
way you intended
• Constantly cultivate and widen your network
• Use it to explain stuff to your audience
• Keep the buzz going about your book

• Don’t send out mass invites to more than 30 people
at once
• Don’t put non-book related items in your status
updates
• Don’t worry about the number of followers
• Build your audience slowly over time
• Don’t just get started on your website/social media
accounts two weeks before your book is released
