Transplants
Previously an executive professional at the San
Antonio headquarters of USAA, Dawn Johnson saw
firsthand the importance of helping individuals
prepare for and cope with the unexpected. Partly as a
result of her experiences with USAA, Dawn Johnson
supports many charitable organizations, such as the
National Foundation for Transplants (NFT).

3. A Brief History of the National Foundation for
Transplants
Established in 1983 and originally known as the Liver
Organ Transplant Fund in honor of its original patient,
the National Foundation for Transplants now assists
more than 2,500 patients each year. Founded by Mary
Clouse, Liz Hull, and Elise Waldheim, the NFT is
dedicated to empowering transplant patients to create
hopeful futures that may otherwise be out of reach.
Whether by volunteering to help run a fundraiser,
providing emotional support, or even becoming an organ
donor, there are many avenues for people across the
country to get involved with the NFT. Annual events like
the Raise Hope Golf Classic are also fun ways for
individuals to support those who require assistance with
organ transplants.
