5. My son, a 7th grader, wrote an essay discussing how fortunate Cheshire students are in comparison to impoverished children working in Bangladesh. Sebastien has sponsored a child in Bangladesh and volunteered with DCI for the past 4 years, and I know this was his inspiration for his essay. I saw that she gradually changed her attitude towards life. Now she says to me, "Dad we do not need brand name jeans or shoes, let's save some money to visit Bangladesh to meet my sponsored child". In the same way, my son, Meeraj, just 11 years old, is shredding papers and cleaning my office each week. He is saving the 5 dollars per week he is earning in a piggy bank and trying his best to help his sponsored child. 6. Ms. Toni Silva of Cheshire Dodd Middle School introduced our Sun Child Sponsorship Program to her students. With unanimous support from her students’ parents, the Green Team chose an underprivileged child to sponsor. This was included as a lesson in social studies. About 30 children together sponsor a child in Bangladesh. The money is collected monthly in a piggy bank and donated to DCI. Ms. Pam Field introduced our Sun Child Sponsorship Program at Cheshire Academy . Over 50 students agreed to participate. The students at her school sponsor four underprivileged children in Bangladesh. Eric Zdanowski Cheshire High, CT; Video Editing Volunteer Service Award (2009) Eric received an award for extraordinary dedication & service to underprivileged children during DCI’s 2009 Conference on Child Rights & Sight at Yale University. Other Youth volunteer award recipients were Amanda Chang, Asahi Hoque, and Lira Chowdhury.
