2. Programme Aims
Provide an opportunity for you to spend a SUMMER
at a reputable overseas institution :
• Enhance your English proficiency,
• Enrich your educational and personal experience through immersion
in a different environment,
• Interact and cultural exchange with classmates from various
nationalities,
• Engage in sightseeing activities to famous tourist attraction around
the country.
Two options:
• University Attachment (UA) - all Year 1 students (2012 cohort).

• English Enhancement (EE) - all students.
3. Eligibility
All current students in the Division who are able to meet the
following requirements:
• must be 18 years of age or above by June 2013.
• must have satisfied the English language requirements set by
the host institution, eg IELTS 5.5, Level 3 in DSE
• must have attained an SGPA > 3.0 in Sem A and a CGPA > 3.0
in Sem B 2012/13.
• should preferably have no previous experience of living or
studying in an English speaking country for more than three
consecutive months.

5. Financial Subsidy (UA)
• Tuition Fee :
• The College will defray the Tuition Fee charged by the host
institution to the student.
• Other Expenses:
• A grant of HK$4,000 or 10% of airfare, accommodation and study
related expenses, excluding meals, whichever is lower, will be
given to students to subsidies part of the expenses incurred.
• The Division will nominate the applicants for the Reaching Out
Award (ROA, HK$10,000 per student) from EDB.
• Interested students must submit their HKDSE/HKALE by
12th Dec 2012 for consideration.

7. Application Procedures
• Interested students should indicated their preferences and
send their academic results of HKDSE or HKALE to Acting
Head, Dr Cyril Tse (cyril.tse@cityu.edu.hk) by 12 Dec 2012.
• Applications will be screened and applicants may be invited to
attend a selection interview in mid Dec 2012.
• A selection panel will be set up to shortlist candidates.
Successful applicants will be notified by the January 2013.
• Successful applicants have to apply themselves in spring 2013
to the host institution for admission to the courses. While the
Division will offer its assistance, whether the student is
accepted is subject to the decision of the host institution.
