I. SCOPE
This Standard covers general requirements for Bolting and Gaskets.
II. BOLTING TECHNICAL REQUIREMENTS
A. All materials shall comply with material specification/norm specified in Material
Requisition.
B. Bolting shall be color coded.
C. A signed Manufacturer's inspection certificate shall include the following:
- Name of Manufacturer
- Material specification and grade
- Diameter
- Heat number or charge number
- Chemical composition
- Mechanical Data
- Heat treatment condition
- Statement that “material supplied is in full accordance to purchase order
requirements” shall be included in the above certificate.
III. GASKETS
A. All materials shall comply with material specification/norm specified in Material
Requisition.
As a minimum , metallic gaskets shall comply with ASME B.16.20 .
B. For metallic gaskets, a signed Manufacturer's inspection certificate is required.
C. Gaskets supplier must classify and mark alloy metallic gaskets.
D. All oval ring-joint gaskets shall meet also the following requirements;
a) Heat number of material to be stenciled on the outside edge of each gasket.
b) “Peel-off” plastic coating required on each gasket. No cadmium plating allowed.
c) All gaskets shall be marked per the requirements of ASME B16.20, Table 2.
E. All spiral-wound gaskets shall be painted and marked per the requirements of ASME
B16.20, Table 19.
F. Spiral wound gaskets shall consist in a specified stainless steel with insert graphite. The
graphite material shall be made with 98% carbon minimum, no binders, 100 ppm
leachable chloride maximum
G. The use of asbestos is prohibited..

V. BID QUOTATION MANDATORY REQUIREMENTS
A. All bolting and gaskets shall comply with the requirements quoted on the relevant
requisition together with any additional requirements of this Eng. Standard. In case of
inconsistency between the M.R. and this Eng. Standard, the requirements of the M.R. will
govern.
B. It shall be unquestionably assumed by FWI/Purchaser that, unless Vendor makes specific
exceptions in his quotation, all components supplied shall comply exactly with the
requirements specified in the Material Requisition and Specifications attached thereto.
C. Vendor must clearly state in his quotation (in a dedicated paragraph headed “Technical
Deviation List”) all instances in which the components offered deviates from the Material
Requisition and/or Eng. Std’s; including, but not limited to, all differences in duty,
mechanical design, codes of fabrication or design, materials of construction and extent of
supply.
