WHY MBA TOURISM MANAGEMENT
Over the decades, tourism has experienced continued
growth and deepening diversification to become one of
the fastest growing economic sectors in the world. Modern
tourism is closely linked to development and encompasses a
growing number of new destinations. These dynamics have
turned tourism into a key driver for socio-economic progress.
Today, the business volume of tourism equals or even
surpasses that of oil exports, food products or automobiles.
Tourism has become one of the major players in international
commerce, and represents at the same time one of the main
income sources for many developing countries. This growth
goes hand in hand with an increasing diversification and
competition among destinations.
This global spread of tourism in industrialised and developed
states has produced economic and employment benefits in
many related sectors - from construction to agriculture or
telecommunications.
The contribution of tourism to economic well-being depends
on the quality and the revenues of the tourism offer. This in
turn has provided exciting career opportunities to the young
professionals to develop a strong business foundation and
customer service skills. Graduates of tourism management
programs are well rounded with a combination of business
and life skills that are in high demand with employers.

Pedagogy
DoMS Tourism Management(TM) programme has a specific set of learning methodology
and tools to best fit our specific learning needs.
Case studies: DoMS is one of the very few management institute to have a case method
focus. It is an effective way to bridge theory and practice. Through a case study method, we
can apply classroom learning to a situation faced by an organization, leading to effective
learning.
Action learning: DoMS TM programme design takes the case study method to a new level
by solving live cases –real life business problems faced by organisation – in the classroom.
This kind of learning is not one-to-many as in a lecture but many-to-many with both teach-
ers and students taking the analysis forward. This method puts the students in the decision-
making position and gives their analysis the edge of real-world sensibilities.
Guest lectures: DoMS assists us to bring the influential industry speakers to share their ex-
periences with the class; this will help us learn directly from the veterans. Guest lectures have
covered sustainability and eco-labels, dark tourism and the visitor experience.
Field Trip: We get to engage in the tourism and events industry through a co-ordinated
visit programme that includes a range of visitor attractions, hotels and events across the City.
Simulations: Learning in a simulated environment let us take strategic business decisions
and learn from the outcomes in a risk-free way. Such simulations also help to develop inte-
grated thinking approach.
Assessment: An innovative range of assessment design reflects the skills needed to engage
in business and includes case-study analysis, assignments, research projects, pod-casts and
technology supported presentations, poster presentations, web-based design tasks and writ-
ten examinations. Meaningful and timely feedback enables students to develop confidence
in meeting the demands of different approaches to assessment.
International Immersion: DoMS TM programme can allow international study tours to
leading universities in the same vertical by that we can directly learn from best practices
from best practice

scenario, DoMS students initiated a 20 day Yoga
program under the guidance of Dr. H.Premraj for
1st year B.E students across all branches at CEG
campus.
The yoga program hovered around KAYAKALPA

imparted by World Community Service Centre. The
principle purpose was to enhance the academic

with lot of enthusiasm.
The talents of students of DOMS were on display
during the day and teachers enjoyed the event
which was evident in their feedback. Also the
ethnic day celebrations along with the teachers’
