3. Web 2.0 and Social Computing Web 1.0 was released in the early 1993 to 2001. The term www occurred due to the burst of the DOT-com bubble in 2001. Since 2004, Web 2.0 was used for current web design, business models and branding methods of sites on the World Wide Web.

Web 2.0 and Social Computing Web 2.0 can be broadly defined as a web application that facilitates interactive information sharing, interoperability, user-centered design and collaboration on the World Wide Web. Tim O’Reilly defined it as “Like many important concepts, Web 2.0 doesn't have a hard boundary, but rather, a gravitational core. You can visualize Web 2.0 as a set of principles and practices that tie together a veritable solar system of sites that demonstrate some or all of those principles, at a varying distance from that core.”
