MATTHEW28:18-20
How do we get to the heart of the matter?
With hearts calloused from polluting matter.
We are in a battle of precious love and then of loss.
Silver and gold within, yet stained with corroded dross.
How do we get back to that place, that rhythm of time?
How? When the slope is slick and futures face an upward climb.
With heart pricked David exclaimed, “break my heart” oh God (Psalm 51)
.
Create in me a clean mind, a new start, getting past the façade.
May the seat of our emotions beat again with new spark.
May we look beyond ourselves and be people after God's own heart.
How do we get to the heart of the matter?
It is only through God, our light, our Creator
That we can stay in time, and keep in step
That we can keep reason’s rhyme and not forget.
So look to Him and love Him more each day
Hold His hand and he’ll hold you up along the way.
Love Him with every fiber of your heart, soul, and mind
And you will realize the matter’s heart every time.
Only then can you love yourself and love your neighbor the same
Only then can you right the wrongs toward the passerby you blame.
For when our eyes look back, instead of glancing forward
We see a yesterday we can’t change just like we cannot change tomor-
row.
Today is the day, and it is given to you upon a silver platter.
Don’t let it corrode. You must get back to the heart of the matter.

berland Lake Golf Course, April 19.
Mission Sunday and Individual Requests
Through the years we have received nu-
merous requests for help on mission trips. As
part of our policy we have limited our help to
those involved in the teaching or preaching of
the gospel or to helping some prepare them-
selves for a life of preaching the truth. We have
tried especially to help those who have some
connection with the church here or those who
might be recommended to us for help.
In past years the church has budgeted a
certain about of money from the amount given
on Mission Sunday but for 2017-2018 none
was budgeted as our gifts on Mission Sunday
was. Any requests we had would be given to
the elders to determine if we had the money to
help. For this year we only had one request that
we were able to help and that was for Brendon
Clayton.
Brendon went on a mission trip to India for
three weeks. During that time he traveled to
several cities including Mangalagiri, Vijay-
awada, Rajahmundry, Pamidipardu, and Pan-
gulur. Of the 45 lessons presented during that
time Brendon preached 20 of them. There were
several responses during this time including
about 25 who were baptized.
In addition to the preaching appointments
he filled, Clayton also participated in the work
that was done at an orphanage that was begun
by his grandfather, Ron Clayton. They worked
there with teenagers whose lives had been af-
fected by the tsunami that hit southern and cen-
tral India. They also assisted in raising support
to help local widows with paying debts left by
their husbands.
They were also involved in a preacher
training course in Pangulur. These men will be
involved in helping to spread the gospel
throughout India. There was so much good ac-
complished in those three weeks in India.
There hopefully will be other opportunities to
help in other areas of our world. Please keep
this in mind as you plan what you can give this
Mission Sunday, May 6, 2018.

FIRST RESPONDERS
Breakfast for the Brave. We will host our
first Breakfast for the Brave on Saturday,
April 28th at 8:00 AM. This will be for all
of the first responders in our area, the sher-
iffs that guard our parking lot each week
and the ones that have come and helped
with emergencies at our building. There
will be opportunities for everyone to help
and I will post when we have confirmed
what is needed. If you know a first re-
sponder, please have them save the date.
Sympathy
