MHC was founded in 2001. Grants from Diana POWMF started with one nurse and 1 N/A Diana centre 2003
By 2007 left with only 2 still on the staff. Needed to recruit mentors. First came from Canada, advertised on WHPCO. Other volunteers came through Cardiff Alumni meeting, speaking for USPG and just hearing about the need.
Vicky Lavy, one of the 3 authors of the Toolkit wanted to do a pilot of teaching with the teaching manual she had written. This coincided with 2 lots of mentors being in Tanga. Teaching was given to Bombo hospital
Out of the programme so far we developed this model for roll out.
