Designing Digitally, Inc. is an interactive media design firm established in 2001 that provides e-learning, training simulations, virtual worlds, and web development services. It has four major service departments and was incorporated in 2006. Some of its clients include government agencies and large corporations. It has created various online training tools and virtual worlds covering topics such as teaching, math, driver safety, and business orientation.

8. Virtual World Completed Projects
St. Louis Arch VE
The St. Louis Arch project was a design created for the City of St.
Louis Convention and Visitors Commission to promote the large
monument to visitors of their State. You are able to purchase your
tickets to visit the arch in real life on the SL island and speak with a
Visitors Commission employee live.
Creative Computer Campus
This island was completed for a Camden County Community College
in New Jersey. This design was to be projected as a futuristic/organic
look and feel. This virtual campus includes a large outdoor
amphitheater, lecture hall, information building, student collaboration
building, and a museum for showcasing students’ artwork.
National Telehealth & Technology Virtual Campus – Division of
the DCOE
This private virtual world is called the National Telehealth &
Technology Virtual Campus. The campus was developed for use by in
assisting returning soldiers that are currently making the transition
between military and civilian life.

Brooks Group VE
Virtual Learning Center island was developed for The Brooks Group as
a virtual headquarters for staff and clients. They use the island for
hosting conferences and finds the their clients appreciate the freedom
and flexibility the virtual meetings offer. The island was also featured in
the Second Life showcase for high popularity and innovative island
design.
U.S. Department Educational VE
This island was built on the Second Life Teen Grid to be used for
underperforming Middle School students throughout the nation. The
focus of this island was to learn about ratios, scale and proportion, and
much more.
TD Ameritrade VE
Being a fortune 500 company, TD AMERITRADE is fully aware of the
importance of staying on the leading edge of virtual learning and
technology. They took full advantage of the new immersive
technology, cutting down their travel budget significantly.
10. Training Simulations & Serious Games
Culture of Civility and Respect
Needing a way to show the managers what they were doing wrong,
why their behavior may be unacceptable and how to make
improvements on it, Designing Digitally, Inc. created a 2D E-Learning
module using animations of 3D avatars acting out scenarios.
New Hampshire Housing Finance Authority (NHHFA) – Find
Financial Freedom
New Hampshire Housing Finance Authority has an engaging financial
training program that allows their students the ability to learn at their
own pace and from their own home. With a sense of security, students
can safely input their financial information along with having the option
of their coach reviewing their budget and family financial goals.
Fast Food Preparation
Looking for an innovative way to train new hires on how to do the day
to day operations at the fast food franchise, the client came to
Designing Digitally, Inc. to develop a 3D simulated learning tool
that would provide “hands on” experience of the tasks used in
the day to day operations of the restaurant.

Simulated Ethics
The HR department of this large company was faced with a limited
budget due to the economic situation that was affecting their
organization. The Client has found that this module is intuitive and
provides the content material needed to effectively know the policies
and procedures for harassment in their workplace.
Air Marshaller Training
Integrating the Microsoft Kinect into learning to show potential clients
what the possibilities are with the device, Designing Digitally, Inc.
developed this serious game to allow potential clients to see the
possibilities of what can be done for training and how this is a fun and
positive learning experience for the end user.
Gas Regulator Maintenance
Utilizing a 3D training simulation to teach new employees how to do
the monthly maintenance checks to the equipment in their territory the
client has seen an improvement in both safety and new employee
orientation for field operators.

Paratrooper Landing & Maneuverability
The United States Air Force Academy wanted to provide a fun and
engaging way to introduce new cadets to the world of parachuting,
including when to jump, pull their chute, as well as how to control the
chute. The paratrooper jump is not only fun and challenging, but
provides an engaging learning experience for all users.
Trauma Unit – Nurse Training
The cognitive learning experience for this training module has provided
an engaging and fun way to teach the content material which was
previously provided to nurses by only the traditional
classroom training method.

Firefighter – REVAS Process
The REVAS process is a proven procedure and following these
procedures in the safety of a virtual learning environment allows
firefighters and those training to be firefighters, the ability to become
the proficient specialist that the job demands.
Federal Bureau of Prisons – Prison Procedures
The Federal Bureau of Prisons is faced with a shortage of prison
guards and prison trainers to help orient the new employees to the
processes needed to keep themselves and the inmates
safe. Launching a 3D simulation allows the client to significantly
reduce the amount of travel and time invested by their training
department through the reduction or eradication of traditional
classroom training.
