NATIONAL ANTHEM
• The Italian song, known as the Mameli
anthem, has been written in 1847 by
Goffredo Mameli when he was just 20. The
song became officially the Italian national
anthem on October the12th 1946.
3. THE OPERA
• The most known expression of the Italian music is the
Opera that is both theatre, music and ballet. The
interpreters do not act their part speaking but singing.
• The most important exponents of the Italian Opera are
Giuseppe Verdi and Gioacchino Rossini.
4. GIOACCHINO ROSSINI
• Gioacchino Rossini was born on the 29th February
1792. The most important operas he wrote were
„‟Barbiere di Siviglia‟‟, „‟Guglielmo Tell‟‟ and „‟La
gazza ladra‟‟.
5. GIUSEPPE VERDI
• Giuseppe Verdi was born on the 10th October 1813. The most
important operas he wrote when he was young were
„‟Nabucco‟‟ and „‟Macbeth‟‟. When he was older, the most
important operas he wrote were
„‟Requiem‟‟, „‟Rigoletto‟‟, „‟Trovatore‟‟ and „‟Traviata‟‟.

Enrico Caruso and Luciano Pavarotti.
7. ENRICO CARUSO
• Enrico Caruso was born in Naples on the 25th
February 1873. The most famous song he
interrpreted was „‟O‟ Sole mio‟‟. He is the first singer
who made records too.
8. LUCIANO PAVAROTTI
• Luciano Pavarotti was born in Modena on the 12th
October 1935. The most famous aria he interrpreted
was „‟Nessun dorma‟‟ by Puccini.
9. THE BRIGANDAGE AGE
• During the end of the XVIIIth century and the begenning of
the XIXth, the phenomenon of the brigandage spread out in
the South of Italy against the Italian Savoy “conquest” of the
South of Italy. These outlaws storngly manifested their rage in
their anthems . The most known is „‟Brigante se more‟‟ .
10. LUCAN FOLK MUSIC
• The Lucan folk music has its roots in the peasant
tradition and today it still maintains its function in the
present popular culture.
