September 2015
Melbourne, Australia
S e p t e m b e r 2 0 1 5
Rotorua, New Zealand
The Forest Industry Engineering Association (FIEA) is well known for
its regular world class programmes that showcase the very latest
developments in sawing and scanning technologies. For well over 15 years
SawTECH, ScanTECH and Wood Manufacturing events have been run for
Australasian wood processing companies.
In September 2013 an inaugural WoodEXPO ran in both New Zealand
and Australia, the last major event run in the region. It highlighted new
innovations, new products and new equipment to improve local sawmilling,
wood manufacturing and wood panel companies operating efficiencies –
and profitability.
To remain internationally competitive, local sawmills increasingly are
looking at tools and technologies that can be used to increase lumber
yields, improve grade recoveries, get higher production speeds out of their
saw-lines, lower the service or maintenance requirements of equipment
and reduce the sawing costs for their operation. Sawmillers increasingly
are working much more closely with their technology providers. The
last couple of years has seen some of the most sophisticated sawing
technologies and saw designs developed in recent times.
To showcase these developments, WoodTECH 2015 has been set up for
local sawmilling companies. This year the event has also had a major
overhaul. A large cross section of sawmillers in both countries will be
having input to the redesign. In addition to sawmill optimisation and saw
selection and operation, previous technology events on Mill Maintenance,
Log & Lumber Scanning and Lumber Quality Control have all been built into
this year’s event.
There’s also a much greater emphasis on the practical issues of selecting
and running saws, low cost improvement tools and on smaller to medium
sized operations which are such an integral part of the Australasian
sawmilling industry. The common theme when speaking to industry is to
focus on how to get the best out of the resource and operation as well as
investment in new plant. A better understanding on how saws within the
mill are been selected, maintained and operated and how to get the most
out of each saw centre is also high on the list of priorities.
As well as technology within the mill – the environment in which the
production team is working and interacting is a critical part of working
smarter – from reconfiguring production lines in the mill through to finding
faster ways to identify and reject unacceptable products. The returns
through the power of the “team” are indeed significant.
WoodTECH 2015 is long overdue. This latest technology series will provide
an essential and independent update on an array of exciting new wood
scanning, sawing and mill optimisation technologies as well as some
innovative human resource practices best suited to local processing
operations. As with previous events, it’s being designed for both senior
management as well as production and operational staff from local mills.

Sponsorship Details:
** Technology Showcase (Popular programme session): Five Star
Sponsors are entitled to be involved in this “showcase” which will be
included as part of the conference programme.
In the showcase, each participating sponsor is able to do a short
5-10 minute rapid fire presentation to the full audience. This session
provides Five Star sponsors with a unique opportunity to raise their
profile and present specific company or product information to all
the event delegates.
Note: Five Star Sponsors will be limited to FIVE ONLY at each venue.
*** E-newsletter Banner Advertising: All event sponsors will receive
complimentary single side banner advertising spaces in Friday Offcuts
(OR WoodWeek). This will be utilized in the two months leading up
to the event to ensure maximum coverage for our sponsors. FIEA will
place the advertisement (logo plus link through to the company’s
web site or alternatively, an advertisement if supplied by the sponsor
– specifications available on request).
As an additional benefit, to maximize coverage and promotions
leading up to or immediately after the event, sponsors can elect to
take out a further one month’s banner advertising in Friday Offcuts
(OR WoodWeek) at a 20% discount off the normal advertising rates.
However because of expected demand the placement and positioning
of the advertisements will be on a “first come first served” basis.
• Deadline for Event Brochure Printing: For inclusion of sponsors’
company logos into the event flyers, confirmation of sponsorship has
to be received BEFORE Friday 29 May 2014. Sponsoring companies
can indicate their interest after this date, but because of production
schedules, may be unable to be included into the programme flyers
that are being used to promote the event.
Note: Company staff not participating in the full conference, but
attending the event to man the displays, will be charged a special
discounted rate of $100 + GST per day. Names of any staff taking up
this option, along with the days that staff will be attending, will need
to be sent through to our Rotorua office. This discounted rate does
not include access to conference presentations or attendance at
conference dinner.
• Promotional benefits for sponsorship will commence once payment
is received.
You may also like us to consider your participation in the event as a presenter, or
alternatively you may like to recommend an overseas or local expert for inclusion in the
conference programme.
If you would like to discuss these sponsorship opportunities please contact
Gordon Thomson on Tel: (+64) 7 921 1384, Mob: (+64) 27 275 8022 or

Wood tech sponsorship & exhibition opportuunities

  • 1. September 2015 Melbourne, Australia S e p t e m b e r 2 0 1 5 Rotorua, New Zealand
  • 2. The Forest Industry Engineering Association (FIEA) is well known for its regular world class programmes that showcase the very latest developments in sawing and scanning technologies. For well over 15 years SawTECH, ScanTECH and Wood Manufacturing events have been run for Australasian wood processing companies. In September 2013 an inaugural WoodEXPO ran in both New Zealand and Australia, the last major event run in the region. It highlighted new innovations, new products and new equipment to improve local sawmilling, wood manufacturing and wood panel companies operating efficiencies – and profitability. To remain internationally competitive, local sawmills increasingly are looking at tools and technologies that can be used to increase lumber yields, improve grade recoveries, get higher production speeds out of their saw-lines, lower the service or maintenance requirements of equipment and reduce the sawing costs for their operation. Sawmillers increasingly are working much more closely with their technology providers. The last couple of years has seen some of the most sophisticated sawing technologies and saw designs developed in recent times. To showcase these developments, WoodTECH 2015 has been set up for local sawmilling companies. This year the event has also had a major overhaul. A large cross section of sawmillers in both countries will be having input to the redesign. In addition to sawmill optimisation and saw selection and operation, previous technology events on Mill Maintenance, Log & Lumber Scanning and Lumber Quality Control have all been built into this year’s event. There’s also a much greater emphasis on the practical issues of selecting and running saws, low cost improvement tools and on smaller to medium sized operations which are such an integral part of the Australasian sawmilling industry. The common theme when speaking to industry is to focus on how to get the best out of the resource and operation as well as investment in new plant. A better understanding on how saws within the mill are been selected, maintained and operated and how to get the most out of each saw centre is also high on the list of priorities. As well as technology within the mill – the environment in which the production team is working and interacting is a critical part of working smarter – from reconfiguring production lines in the mill through to finding faster ways to identify and reject unacceptable products. The returns through the power of the “team” are indeed significant. WoodTECH 2015 is long overdue. This latest technology series will provide an essential and independent update on an array of exciting new wood scanning, sawing and mill optimisation technologies as well as some innovative human resource practices best suited to local processing operations. As with previous events, it’s being designed for both senior management as well as production and operational staff from local mills. Background: Excellent opportunity to hear about technology advancements & networking with other sawmillers & suppliers. • 5. Sponsorship Details: ** Technology Showcase (Popular programme session): Five Star Sponsors are entitled to be involved in this “showcase” which will be included as part of the conference programme. In the showcase, each participating sponsor is able to do a short 5-10 minute rapid fire presentation to the full audience. This session provides Five Star sponsors with a unique opportunity to raise their profile and present specific company or product information to all the event delegates. Note: Five Star Sponsors will be limited to FIVE ONLY at each venue. *** E-newsletter Banner Advertising: All event sponsors will receive complimentary single side banner advertising spaces in Friday Offcuts (OR WoodWeek). This will be utilized in the two months leading up to the event to ensure maximum coverage for our sponsors. FIEA will place the advertisement (logo plus link through to the company’s web site or alternatively, an advertisement if supplied by the sponsor – specifications available on request). As an additional benefit, to maximize coverage and promotions leading up to or immediately after the event, sponsors can elect to take out a further one month’s banner advertising in Friday Offcuts (OR WoodWeek) at a 20% discount off the normal advertising rates. However because of expected demand the placement and positioning of the advertisements will be on a “first come first served” basis. • Deadline for Event Brochure Printing: For inclusion of sponsors’ company logos into the event flyers, confirmation of sponsorship has to be received BEFORE Friday 29 May 2014. Sponsoring companies can indicate their interest after this date, but because of production schedules, may be unable to be included into the programme flyers that are being used to promote the event. Note: Company staff not participating in the full conference, but attending the event to man the displays, will be charged a special discounted rate of $100 + GST per day. Names of any staff taking up this option, along with the days that staff will be attending, will need to be sent through to our Rotorua office. This discounted rate does not include access to conference presentations or attendance at conference dinner. • Promotional benefits for sponsorship will commence once payment is received. You may also like us to consider your participation in the event as a presenter, or alternatively you may like to recommend an overseas or local expert for inclusion in the conference programme. If you would like to discuss these sponsorship opportunities please contact Gordon Thomson on Tel: (+64) 7 921 1384, Mob: (+64) 27 275 8022 or email: gordon.thomson@fiea.org.nz For speaking opportunities, please contact Brent Apthorp on Tel: (+64) 3 470 1902 or email brent.apthorp@fiea.org.nz A good mix of presenters and participants, excellent expert input, and once again great networking opportunities.
