candidate is going to win and keep their vote. The harsh reality is that although your vote counts; the

The ability to manage a country in terms of finances, education, foreign affairs and policies, is
essential to the voter. This management ability is one of the key qualities that YOU the voter look
for. Most of us ask the following questions either watching debates, or the day of casting a tool so
powerful it can change history. The Vote. Is the candidate focused enough to follow an overarching
vision, but nimble enough to tweak that vision when real–world events intervene? Can they admit
mistakes and learn from them? Can they sift through complex ideas? Can they recognize baloney
when it comes from their staff or supporters? Do they know how to hire a good team? Capturing
the crowd is the backbone of every political campaign. Candidates use this tactic to win over your
vote. It's a multimillion dollar industry that continues to grow with our new ways of

The United States is currently in the midst of an Opioid overdose epidemic. Deaths from overdoses
of prescription drugs continue to be the leading cause of unintentional death for Americans. Last
year, 47,055 people died from drug overdoses – 1.5 times greater than the number killed in car

Today, Naloxone is now being prescribed and dispensed to people at risk of opioid overdose. The
number of overdose deaths has quadrupled since 1999. Statistics show that increased availability,
relatively low price (compared to prescription opioids), and high purity of heroin in the United States
is one of the reasons why death rates are so high. From 2000 to 2015, more than half a million
people died from drug overdoses. Every day, approximately 91 Americans die from an opioid
overdose. It is a proven fact that most people who are addicted suffer the most overdoses. Anyone

Censorship based on religion views sexual works as attacks on the religious faith itself. Also,
anti–religious works are damaging to the religious beliefs. Themes that are viewed as communistic,
un–American, or ungodly would be censored based on their changes in the political structure.
Obscenity is used by these censors to cover up the objections on political groups and beliefs. Lastly,
minority rights censors often want their own special group values recognized. This category is
mainly censored by ethnic minorities and women who are struggling against established stereotypes
that have been the norm for a long time.
There are many lists of censored books that come out every year; one of those lists is the 100 most
frequently challenged books of 1990–2000. On this list the Catcher in the Rye by J.D Salinger ranks
at number 13. Forever by Judy Blume ranks at number eight and the Harry Potter series by R.K.
Rowling ranks at number seven. Catcher in the Rye is censored because of the incidents of
depression, nervous breakdown, impulsive spending, sexual exploration, vulgarity, and other erratic

The first source illustrates a cartoon that presents an electronic store displaying different forms of
the news, including TV stations, newspapers, and a radio. Deviations in their names are evident.
Yet, the pronunciation is the same. The radio and newspaper also are homophones of The Merger
and ConglomoCorp owns them all. The cartoonist uses this to highlight how oblivious people are

The digital divide is the advantage people in certain countries receive since they have access to
digital technological and digital communication. This puts others in different countries at a
disadvantage when they do not have access to this technology. North America has access to an
abundance of technology that other countries do not have. Poorer nations do not have access to

2. How much does it takes me to write a post? Maybe you blog about product review and after
testing the product, it only takes you an hour to have a finished post ready to publish. Or maybe
you have a DIY blog and writing a blog post takes you 2–3 hours. Chances are that if you review
products in your blog you will be able to produce more content in less time. Therefore this blog will
be able to publish more posts throughout the week than the DIY blog. (But of course it all depends
on the amount of time available to blogging)
3. Am I willing to blog consistently? If you really want to take your blog seriously (which I know
you do) then you probably are ready to start building that editorial calendar.
Always remember that you need to set yourself for success. So take the first step now! Now that
you have answered all the questions, build a posting schedule that works for you. Keep in mind the

A Deeper Look into Indiana's Law Many thoughts should run through one's mind as they skim
through The Editorial Board of Terre Haute Tribune–Star's "It's time to expand Indiana's civil rights
law" editorial piece. This editorial presents many flaws that can be spotted with one read through.
The opinion piece is written with good intentions; however, The Board commits quite a few errors in
the delivery. Inconsistencies and appeals to an already sympathetic audience make it difficult for this
editorial to convince any skeptics to switch sides on the issues that are raised. While The Board
was obviously passionate about this writing, the editorial is not effective due to insufficient
evidence and only one viewpoint among other oversights. This piece tries to raise concerns about
Indiana's wellbeing and shortcomings that all relate back to one law, the Religious Freedom
Restoration Act (RFRA), which gives businesses the right to exercise their religious beliefs when
running their operations. Unsupported evidence is one of the major setbacks in this mission of The
Board. It begins when The Board said, "But RFRA backfired" (par. 4) ("It's time to expand Indiana's
civil rights law"). There is no solid evidence of this assertion throughout the remainder of the
editorial with only one weak sentence to follow that statement which says, "Despite attempts to 'fix'
it, Indiana continues to pay for it through lost economic investment and a tarnished public image"

The English language consists both of written and spoken features. Until recently, items and
structures most typically found in spoken language have not been fully described. Most grammars of
English have had a bias towards the written language.
They are many differences between spoken and written English. Text A and B show written and

Text A is a written account of these activities, while Text B is a transcript of the spoken account.

Here we know what the speaker is talking about, however if this was written text then the opening
'was pretty straightforward' makes no sense to the reader.
Another major distinction between spoken English and written English is the omission or slurring of
syllables in the spoken language, this is called Elision.
Words like 'going to' are slurred to 'gonna' and 'want to be' to 'wannabe' this is very common in
speech as this is deliberately done to elide the sounds of the words for accent, regional dialect ect.
The use of contracted forms are never used in the standard written English, examples of elision
cannot be found in Text B as the speaker seems rarely do this.
Written English is a complicated formation of manly grammar. In Text A, the written account of the
speakers activities, she uses very little grammar; with no clauses, pauses for breath, or barely any use
of punctuation. The paragraph is very basic, while the sentence structure and depth is kept simple.

Except for the proper evidence and clear reasons, an array of persuasive elements is also utilized in
the passage to emphasize the main argument. In the first paragraph, for instance, the Times Editorial
board skillfully uses a concession to analyze that increasing the minimum income will virtually cause
employers to eliminate jobs and reduce their hours. This element, therefore, makes the argument
more receptive and also clarifies the maturation of the author. More important, the concession in the

change give them time to adapt and then hold them accountable. For example, discharging a
patient by 11 AM is a hospital initiative. Transplant medications were in the patient's room by
10:30 AM. The patient had told the social worker that he had a couple of other questions to ask the
surgeon. The social worker had pass this message to the patient's nurse. They both decided to wait
until the transplant surgery rounds at noon for the patient to ask instead of paging the surgery team.

In college, I studied illustrated books from an academic standpoint. I went to Vassar, where
children's book writer Nancy Willard was on faculty. She introduced me to illustrator Barry Moser,
and the interview he gave me was the centerpiece of my senior thesis. While I was there, I spent
three years as a student assistant in Vassar's lab pre–school, and after graduation found work as an
assistant teacher in a Montessori school, teaching 6–9 year olds. That year, I began to write a novel

Editorial Essay – School Start Times Many high schools in the US start their schedules at 8:00 A.M.,
and some even before 7:30 A.M., which cause health and educational problems for student's
nationwide. Early school start times are detrimental to the physical and mental health of teenagers
because of short and long–term effects. Everyone knows, or has heard, that on average teenagers
should obtain at least 8 hours of sleep, and some even say the minimum should be 9 hours.
However, "according to the National Sleep Foundation, only 14% achieve this goal, and
approximately 70% of adolescents obtain less than 8 hours of sleep on a typical weeknight,"
says Ph.D. holder Dr. Julie Boergers. Currently, only about 40% of US high schools start before
8:00 A.M. and many even start at 7:30 A.M. or earlier. To add on, many teens now days work part
time jobs starting right after school, and some of them don't return home until 11:00 or 12:00 p.m.
Of course, this doesn't take into consideration the homework a student has from school, so on
average adding two hours, most teen would go to sleep at 1 or 2 at night. This only leaves about 4
to 5 hours of sleep for many teens. With only four to five hours of sleep in a student's schedule there

The Editorial from The Daily messenger, in their opinion piece entitled "Time for the Very Last
Puff" responds to the issue of smoking being a "serious, costly, health hazard". It is clear that The
Editorial feel as though smoking is a serious danger to the community and it is up to society to put

Reflection On Writing
Room 307. What a number to remember, the first time entering that classroom was frightening
mainly because I've heard rumors about that class such as all we do is write essays and we have
homework every day. Mainly, I was frustrated because I strongly hated writing and homework. To
add on when I first wrote my friendly letter essay I was confused because I didn't know myself so it
was difficult to talk about myself which resulted in a somewhat low grade and a low self–esteem.
After that point, we began to learn about the rules of writing and the how to use it correctly and that
helped me understand the basics of writing and how to use it correctly. In addition, I didn't realize I
had multiple issues with my writing such as comma splices, run–ons, and what she calls it grrr these
three issues killed my writing. After struggling multiple times attempting to fix my issues, the two
essays that changed the way how I wrote were my "Conformity Vs Individuality" and my
"Bystander Editorial" essays. How you ask, thanks for asking it changed how I think and wrote
mainly because I got A– and that was an accomplishment at least for me and ever since that A– I
used it as a template to get good grades on essays and that truly helped me self–improve and fix my

that exact argument. The following evaluation of this editorial will look at the strengths and
weaknesses of their argument. If the editorial's argument is properly presented, it should provide
adequate reasons that support their conclusion, refrain from using any hidden assumptions, abstain

The information in this editorial is mostly true, and presents it's argument with integrity. They avoid
contradictions in their reasoning, and maintain a steady opinion of where the problem came from.
One can assume from observing the author's tone, that they are of the opinion that government needs
to change it's ways. Truthful facts are presented to support this opinion.
This editorial from the USA Today website presents a solid argument that there are more poor
people today than there was fifty years ago, and they give good reasons and facts to back it up. As
was covered in this essay, it provides reasons supportive of the conclusion, generally avoids hidden
assumptions, abstains from prejudicial words(with the exception of one phrase), presents reasons
without fallacies, includes most of the important information, and presents it all using integrity and
without contradictions. There is no doubt we are facing tough financial times as a nation right now.
However if we can all look at the big picture, we should realize what this argument presents is true.
Our government and society need to change their ways if we want to mend the problems we have
been dealing with the last decade.

come from what their opponent has said in the past. Candidates use information from the past to
display the image that there opponent can not be trusted and will go back on his or her word.
This is typically called "flip flopping". When candidates make there opponent out to be a flip

Also in the beginning of the editorial, the author refers back to the two women who fought on the
front lines. Those women as well as two other servicewomen filed suit in attempt to overturn the
law established in 1994 which states as follows: "Rule: Service members are eligible to be
assigned to all positions for which they are qualified, except that women shall be excluded from
assignment to units below the brigade level whose primary mission is to engage in direct combat
on the ground, as defined below. Definition: Direct ground combat is engaging an enemy on the
ground with individual or crew served weapons, while being exposed to hostile fire and to a high
probability of direct physical contact with the hostile forces personnel. Direct combat take s place
well forward on the battlefield while locating an closing with the enemy to defeat then by fire,
maneuver or shock effect." The author goes on to state that, despite what happens in court with the
lawsuit filed by the four servicewomen, the issue should never have to go to court in order to be

Essay about The Education System
The education system has been a controversial issue among educators. Requirements of school do
not let student choose what they want to study for their future. It's a big issue to force student study
specific curriculums, which don't help them improve, and what they like to create something.
Educators choose a general system for education to all students which based on general knowledge.
Intelligent or genius students have to be in that system of education, which doesn't let them improve
their creativity. Educators attempt to change that system to make it better, but their changing was

Gatto is concern to society that the contemporary schooling system is trying to get rid of students'
personality by turning them into obedient students that are easy to have power over (control).
Therefore, the system will produce uneducated voters that are easy to be misled by higher powers. In
addition, students are not given the freedom of choosing what they want. He is saying that public
schools are not the only way to success; also, unschooled people don't mean that they are uneducated.
Moreover, Gatto encourages home–school system than public school as option because home–school
system has more independence but it's not a solution for the US. I disagree to his solution because
he is supporting examples from old generation such as Edison and Ben Franklin; however, our
generation is different than before. It needs school environment like sharing our ideas in class and
helping each other to solve problems. Therefore, homeschool is not the solution to success. It is a
combination of the students' skills, intelligence, and effort that makes up their success.
Graff says that putting students in classes in the contemporary system is wasting and limiting
students' potential and creativity (198). Complaining that intellects do not meet the success standard
set by schools, Graff proves that schools limit the intellect students can achieve in their academic
career (198–199).
