1 Corinthians 6:1
Christians Should Not Sue Christians
• NAU 1 Corinthians 6:1 Does any one of you, when he
has a case against his neighbor, dare to go to law
before the unrighteous and not before the saints?
• NAU Genesis 13:8 So Abram said to Lot, "Please let
there be no strife between you and me, nor between
my herdsmen and your herdsmen, for we are
brothers. 9 "Is not the whole land before you? Please
separate from me; if to the left, then I will go to the
right; or if to the right, then I will go to the left.”
• NAU 1 Corinthians 3:3 for you are still fleshly. For
since there is jealousy and strife among you, are you
not fleshly, and are you not walking like mere men?
1 Corinthians 6:1
Christians Should Not Sue Christians
• NAU Philippians 2:14 Do all things without
grumbling or disputing;
• NAU 2 Corinthians 12:20 For I am afraid that
perhaps when I come I may find you to be not
what I wish and may be found by you to be not
what you wish; that perhaps there will be
strife, jealousy, angry tempers, disputes,
slanders, gossip, arrogance, disturbances;
1 Corinthians 6:1
Christians Should Not Sue Christians
• Irenaeus said, “There is no need to look anywhere
else for truth which we can easily obtain from the
church. The apostles have, as it were, deposited
this truth in all its fullness in this depository, so that
whoever wants to may draw from this water of
life. This is the gate of life; all others are thieves
and robbers.”
1 Corinthians 6:2, “to judge”
• NKJ 1 Corinthians 6:2 Do you not know that the
saints will judge [krino] the world? And if the world
will be judged [krino] by you, are you unworthy to
judge [kriterion] the smallest matters?
• <2919> κρίνω krino
• Meaning: to judge, decide…
• 2922 κριτήριον kriterion {kree-tay'-ree-on}
• Meaning: 1) the instrument or means of trying or
judging anything 1a) the rule by which one judges
2) the place where judgment is given…

1 Corinthians 6:2, “to judge”
• NAU Revelation 2:26 'He who overcomes, and he
who keeps My deeds until the end, TO HIM I WILL
GIVE AUTHORITY OVER THE NATIONS;
• NAU Revelation 3:21 'He who overcomes, I will
grant to him to sit down with Me on My throne,
as I also overcame and sat down with My Father
on His throne.
• NAU Revelation 5:10 "You have made them to be
a kingdom and priests to our God; and they will
reign upon the earth."

• NAU Daniel 7:22 until the Ancient of Days
came and judgment was passed in favor of the
saints of the Highest One, and the time arrived
when the saints took possession of the
kingdom.

1 Corinthians 6:3,
• NAU 1 Corinthians 6:3 …we will judge angels…
• MacArthur Study Bible, Page 1736, “the Gr.
word can mean "rule or govern." Since the Lord
Himself will judge fallen angels (2 Pet. 2:4; Jude
6), it is likely this means we will have some rule
in eternity over holy angels. Since angels are
"ministering spirits" to serve the saints (Heb.
1:14), it seems reasonable that they will serve
us in glory.”

1 Corinthians 6:7
“rather be wronged”
• NAU 1 Corinthians 6:7 Actually, then, it is already a
defeat for you, that you have lawsuits with one
another. Why not rather be wronged? Why not rather
be defrauded?
• NAU Matthew 5:39 "But I say to you, do not resist an
evil person; but whoever slaps you on your right
cheek, turn the other to him also. 40 "If anyone wants

1 Corinthians 6:9, Homosexual,
• NAU Romans 1:18 For the wrath of God is revealed from heaven
against all ungodliness and unrighteousness of men who suppress the
truth in unrighteousness, 19 because that which is known about God
is evident within them; for God made it evident to them. 20 For since
the creation of the world His invisible attributes, His eternal power
and divine nature, have been clearly seen, being understood through
what has been made, so that they are without excuse. 21 For even
though they knew God, they did not honor Him as God or give thanks,
but they became futile in their speculations, and their foolish heart
was darkened. .… 24 Therefore God gave them over in the lusts of
their hearts to impurity, so that their bodies would be dishonored
among them. 25 For they exchanged the truth of God for a lie, and
worshiped and served the creature rather than the Creator, who is
blessed forever. Amen. 26 For this reason God gave them over to

• passions; for their women exchanged the natural function for that
which is unnatural, 27 and in the same way also the men abandoned
the natural function of the woman and burned in their desire toward
one another, men with men committing indecent acts and receiving in
their own persons the due penalty of their error. 28 And just as they
did not see fit to acknowledge God any longer, God gave them over to
a depraved mind, to do those things which are not proper, 29 being
filled with all unrighteousness, wickedness, greed, evil; full of envy,
murder, strife, deceit, malice; they are gossips, 30 slanderers, haters of
God, insolent, arrogant, boastful, inventors of evil, disobedient to
parents, 31 without understanding, untrustworthy, unloving,
unmerciful; 32 and although they know the ordinance of God, that
those who practice such things are worthy of death, they not only do
the same, but also give hearty approval to those who practice them.

A REFORMATION THE CHURCH DOESN’T NEED:
ANSWERING REVISIONIST PRO-GAY THEOLOGY– PART I
By Gregory Koukl and Alan Shlemon

• “The scene was familiar: a church filled with joyful Christians, singing well-known hymns, praising God with arms outstretched, enjoying beautiful, bountiful fellowship with each other. There was one
significant difference, though, between this gathering and one you probably attend. All the participants were either homosexual or “gay affirming.” Plus, they’re on a mission to change your mind and
your congregation’s theology about homosexuality. It’s being called a new Reformation, but this is a reformation we do not need. These people are organized, serious, and single-minded—and you need
to be ready for them, because and they are coming to your church. The Reformation Project (TRP), founded by Matthew Vines, is one of a number of organizations1 in this movement hosting conferences
around the country.2 Their mission: “We are dedicated to training LGBT3 Christians and their allies to reform church teaching on sexual orientation and gender identity through the teaching of the Bible.”
4 TRP’s statement of faith is standard Evangelical fare, including a commitment to “the inspiration of the Bible, the Word of God…the Triune God… [Jesus’] death for our sins, His resurrection and eventual
return…and the regenerative power of the Holy Spirit.” Their conferences engage all the relevant Scriptures and standard challenges to the gayfriendly view. Drawing from the writings of legitimate
scholars, they teach the conferees hermeneutics and theology combined with tactically clever and rhetorically compelling talking points. Then they role-play the responses in a winsome and attractive
way. It’s essentially a Stand to Reason for revisionist pro-gay theology. THIS CONCLUSION IS BASED ON A SELECTIVE USE OF THE HISTORICAL EVIDENCE FROM ANCIENT NEAR EAST CULTURE.4 not the
slightest hint in any biblical passage that condemnation of homosexuality is based on—and therefore limited to coercive or oppressive, samesex activity. Instead, the Scripture consistently makes a
different point, one emphasized with every passage in question. To see that point clearly, though, we need to go back to the beginning. “From the Beginning…” Two thousand years ago, Jesus of Nazareth
based an argument about marriage on a simple observation about the created order: Humans are made male and female. They are gendered. When confronted with the revisionist teaching on marriage
of His own day, Jesus said: Have you not read that He who created them from the beginning made them male and female and said, “For this reason a man shall leave his father and mother and be joined
to his wife, and the two shall become one flesh”? So they are no longer two, but one flesh. What therefore God has joined together, let no man separate. (Matt. 19:4-6)9 Jesus answered a question about
divorce by going back to the beginning, to God’s original intention for marriage: one man, with one woman, becoming one flesh, for one lifetime. That was Jesus’ view. Contrary to common assertion,
then, Jesus did have something to say about homosexuality. From the beginning God had designed, intended, and endorsed marriage and sex (“one flesh”) solely for long term, monogamous,
heterosexual unions. Indeed, gendered human bodies reflect that purpose: men and women designed to function together, to fit each other physically in a complementary way. Simply put, the man was
made for the woman and the woman was made for the man. Reject that function and replace it with another, and you reject God’s own good purpose for sex. Author Kevin DeYoung sums up the
revisionist approach nicely in his recent critique: The issue was not gender (whether the lovers were male or female), but gender roles (whether a man was overly feminized and acting like a woman). The
issue was not men having sex with men, but men having sex with boys. The issue was not consensual same-sex sexual intimacy, but gang rape, power imbalances, and systemic oppression. The revisionist
case can take many forms, but central to most of them is the “not that kind of homosexuality!” argument. We can safely set aside the scriptural prohibitions against homosexual behavior because we are
comparing apples and oranges: we are talking in our day about committed, consensual, lifelong partnerships, something the biblical authors in their day knew nothing about.7 Thus, on this view the Bible
does not prohibit homosexuality per se, only abusive forms of homosexuality like pederasty, master-slave exploitation, promiscuity, rape, victimization, etc. We have two general responses to this claim
before we address the biblical case directly. First, this conclusion is based on a selective use of the historical evidence from ancient Near East culture. Examples of exploitive sexuality abound in the
literature, to be sure. However, a variety of non-abusive homosexual practices show up in the record, too—including all of the “loving” variations we witness today (except, notably, “gay Christians”).
There are even references to nascent notions of what we would now call “sexual orientation.”8 As it turns out then, in the ancient Near East “committed, consensual, lifelong partnerships” did exist, in
addition to the exploitive forms. Why, then, presume the biblical texts merely forbid the second, but not the first? By what logic can biblical passages be said to inveigh only against the “abusive” practices
and not homosexual conduct itself? Second, Scripture nowhere makes this notthat-kind-of-homosexuality distinction. There’s BY WHAT LOGIC CAN BIBLICAL PASSAGES BE SAID TO INVEIGH ONLY AGAINST
THE “ABUSIVE” PRACTICES AND NOT HOMOSEXUAL CONDUCT ITSELF?5 not a problem, only sexual violence and social injustice. Are they right? Of course, the above explanations are not mutually
exclusive and may have been factors in their own way. Here’s the key question, though: Does the biblical record indicate that homosexuality was a factor at all in the destruction of Sodom and Gomorrah?
Three observations make it clear that the revisionist approach is not an adequate explanation. First, there was no rape, only an expressed intention that was not fulfilled. Thus, according to the revisionist
view, God annihilated two entire cities in part because a gang of ruffians hoped to sexually assault two men they never actually touched. This seems odd. It’s hard to believe that merely attempting a
crime—even one as despicable as rape—would bring annihilation. I think we can eliminate that option. Second, Jude 7 says, “Sodom and Gomorrah and the cities around them…indulged in gross
immorality and went after strange flesh” (sarkos heteras). Yes, sex with angels would be strange, but there is absolutely no indication the men of Sodom—or even Lot—knew the visitors were angels.
Further, the strange-flesh sex was happening in neighboring cities as well. More angels? Doubtful. The “strange flesh” that appealed to the sexual appetites of the men of that region
• clearly was not angelic flesh. Eliminate that option, too. Third, nothing that happened at Lot’s house that night could have been the reason God destroyed Sodom and Gomorrah neither attempted gang
rape, nor sex with angels, nor anything else that took place that evening. Why? Because God had sent the angels to visit judgment before those incidents ever happened: “We are about to destroy this
• place, because their outcry has become so great before the Lord that the Lord has sent us to destroy it” (Gen.19:13).13 Something terrible had been going on for so long in the those two cities and
beyond that God’s judgment was a fait accompli before the angels even arrived—meant as a vivid example of Divine Sam Allberry, himself a Christian managing samesex attraction, put it this way: “What
was going on with Adam and Eve explains what has gone on ever since. The perfect ‘fit’ between the two of them is the foundation for every human marriage since. The account is not just about their
union, but every marriage union.”10 Not surprisingly, then, the six sexual activities prohibited in the Bible—adultery, fornication, rape, incest, bestiality, and homosexuality—each involve sex with

• (CNSNews.com) -- Dr. Paul R. McHugh, the former psychiatrist-in-chief for Johns Hopkins Hospital and its current
Distinguished Service Professor of Psychiatry, said that transgenderism is a “mental disorder” that merits treatment, that
sex change is “biologically impossible,” and that people who promote sexual reassignment surgery are collaborating with
and promoting a mental disorder.
• Dr. McHugh, the author of six books and at least 125 peer-reviewed medical articles, made his remarks in a recent
commentary in the Wall Street Journal, where he explained that transgender surgery is not the solution for people who
suffer a “disorder of ‘assumption’” – the notion that their maleness or femaleness is different than what nature assigned
to them biologically.
• He also reported on a new study showing that the suicide rate among transgendered people who had reassignment
surgery is 20 times higher than the suicide rate among non-transgender people. Dr. McHugh further noted studies from
Vanderbilt University and London’s Portman Clinic of children who had expressed transgender feelings but for whom,
over time, 70%-80% “spontaneously lost those feelings.”
• While the Obama administration, Hollywood, and major media such as Time magazine promote transgenderism as
normal, said Dr. McHugh, these “policy makers and the media are doing no favors either to the public or the
transgendered by treating their confusions as a right in need of defending rather than as a mental disorder that deserves
understanding, treatment and prevention.”

Johns Hopkins Psychiatrist: Transgender is ‘Mental
Disorder;' Sex Change ‘Biologically Impossible’, By
Michael W. Chapman, (CNSNews.com)

1 Corinthians 6:11, What does the Bible say about
transsexualism / transgenderism? Is gender identity disorder /
gender dysphoria the result of sin?” transvestites
• Question: "What does the Bible say about transsexualism / transgenderism? Is gender identity disorder / gender
dysphoria the result of sin?"
• Answer: Transsexualism, also known as transgenderism, Gender Identity Disorder (GID), or gender dysphoria, is a desire
to change one’s sex or to fulfill the role of the opposite gender. Transsexuals / transgenders usually describe themselves
as “trapped” in a body that does not match their gender. They will probably practice transvestism / transvestitism and
may also seek hormone therapy and/or surgery to bring their bodies into conformity with their perceived gender.
• The Bible has plenty to say about human sexuality. Most basic to our understanding of sex is that God created two (and
only two) genders: “male and female He created them” (Genesis 1:27). All the modern-day speculation about numerous
genders—or even a gender “continuum” with unlimited genders—is unbiblical.
• In Psalm 139, we learn that God fashions each one of us. “For you created my inmost being; you knit me together in my
mother's womb. I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made. . . . My frame was not hidden from you when
I was made in the secret place. . . . your eyes saw my unformed body” (verses 13-16). God’s creation of each individual
must surely include His designation of gender/sex. His wonderful work leaves no room for mistakes; no one is born with
the “wrong body.”
• After the fall of man, it did not take long for gender issues to become confused. In Abraham’s day, homosexuality was
widespread in some cities (Genesis 19:1-7; Jude 7). The Bible is unmistakably clear that homosexuality is a sinful
perversion of God’s gift of sexuality (Romans 1:18-32; 1 Corinthians 6:9-10).
• In the Law, transvestism / transvestitism was specifically forbidden: “A woman must not wear men’s clothing, nor a man
wear women’s clothing, for the Lord your God detests anyone who does this” (Deuteronomy 22:5).
• Another possible reference to transsexualism is 1 Corinthians 6:9, where “male prostitutes” is listed as a separate
category from “homosexual offenders.” The King James Version uses the word “effeminate” here; that is to say, the
“male prostitutes” might be transsexual men who act as women.
• No matter if the gender distortion has a genetic, hormonal, physiological, or psychological cause, the Bible clearly and
consistently labels any sexual activity outside of marriage or not between a man and a woman as sin, rebellion against
God’s plan. But following this realization is good news: sin can be forgiven and lives can be changed through faith in

My Open Letter of Apology to the Gay
Community (From A Christian)
• I’m seeing quite a few open letters of apology from Christians to the gay community in light of the recent Supreme Court ruling
on gay marriage. At first, I was angry. “What are we apologizing for again?!?,” I thought. As a conservative Christian, I was
annoyed. It seemed – at first – to be capitulation on a very important issue. After reading more than a few of these open letters
of apology, however, my heart has softened on the issue. I realize that conservative Christians like myself are in the clear
minority. The Supreme Court has ruled. Other churches, like the Episcopalians just yesterday, have found it in their heart to
soften from their historic, traditional opinions. And as much as religious people love the past, I’ve had to come to grips with the
reality that this – gay marriage – is our present and no doubt, our future.
• There comes that moment – even for Christians steeped in conservative traditions – to recognize when the times have
changed…and the times have changed. Taking a cue from other Christians who find a sense of closure in writing an open letter of
apology to the gay community, I will follow suit and apologize for several things on behalf of not just myself, but my fellow
Christians.
• Dear Gay Community,
• As a Christian who has been forced to evaluate where I stand in recent days in light of Scripture, in both tone and message, I
would like to apologize for myself and other Christians…
• 1. I’m sorry that any of us ever referred to you as a “gay community.” Really, that’s not helpful. A “community” is a group of
individuals that either live in the same place or share the same values. Sodomy (defined as unnatural and immoral sexual
behavior) is not a value. Sodomy is a deviancy. Now, if you defined “community” as sharing interests and not values, then there
could theoretically be a gay community because you hold unnatural and immoral sexual behavior as a common interest.
However, to call you a “community” would legitimize this sin in a way that we don’t legitimize any other sin. For example, we
don’t recognize “the thieving community” or the “the lying community” or “the bank-robbing community” or “the rapist
community” or the “white collar criminal community.” If communities could be founded upon self-destructive behavior, those
communities would be self-defeating, and a self-defeating community is no community at all. In fact, a truly “gay community”
would be extinct within one generation. Your unnatural sexual deviancy leads to death; legitimate communities are self-
populating and regenerative. It was a dumb term for Christians to start using, and I apologize for all of those who inadvertently
give credence to the narrative that yours is a community and not a group of sinners who share in community-destroying
behavior. 59

• Q. In one of your answers you mentioned that we’ll be reigning with Jesus in New Jerusalem. Now, my
question is this: How can we reign with Him? Does He need our assistance or advice? Maybe we’ll represent
him in some part of the planet to other peoples and tribes? If so how can we then be at the same time in the
New Jerusalem? Or will we just enjoy His presence and eternal fellowship as He will be simultaneously with
us in the New Jerusalem and on the surface of the planet Earth?
• A. Speaking of the Church, Rev. 5:10 says, “You have made us to be kings and priests to serve our God and we
will reign on Earth.” In 1 Cor 6:2-3 Paul said we’ll judge both the world and the angels. The Greek word for
judge also means to rule over or govern, and in Biblical times rulers were also judges.
• In John 14:1-2 the Lord said that that our home will be “in my father’s house” and Rev 21:27 says that only
those whose names are written in the Lamb’s Book of Life can inhabit the New Jerusalem. Only the Church’s
names are so inscribed. We’re not informed as to how all of this will translate into daily activity, but the Bible
clearly promises these things.
• Being with the Lord doesn’t necessarily mean we’ll be at His side every moment of every day, any more than a
husband and wife who are “with”each other are always in each others presence. And remember, when Jesus
came out of the tomb it was as a physical being (Luke 24:39). I take that to mean He’s a physical being today.
When He told the disciples He would be with us, always, even to the end of the age (Matt. 28:20), He didn’t
mean physically standing in our presence, He meant in spirit through the Holy Spirit. Therefore I don’t think
of Him as physically being on Earth and in the New Jerusalem at the same time.
• Finally, throughout history, earthly kings have ruled portions of their kingdoms without being physically
present there. (Think of the King of England who also ruled Canada, Australia, India and Hong Kong at the
same time.) Surely if they could do that in their natural states then it wouldn’t be a problem for the Lord, or
for us either.

Fornication, Fornicators And Adulterers
• QUESTION FOR THE DAY
• Dear Compass,
• When I met my boyfriend, I became closer to God again. However, I found myself questioning my boyfriend when we go out to parties, wondering if we should really be having sex because God says we shouldn't before getting married. Then we came to an
agreement: "Well, I think it should be OK as I'm pretty sure we'll be the ones marrying each other." And later in our relationship, I asked him what he would do if we stopped having sex until we get engaged/married. Then he said he would have to masturbate
because he saw some research that it wouldn't be healthy if he didn't do anything for months/years. Later, we came up with another solution. We both came to an agreement that we promise to never have sex with anyone and would continue to have sex
until our engagement period. Once we get engaged, we should stop having sex for about six months or until we officially get married. What do you think of the whole situation? I mean I'm sure if I stopped having sex, too, I would end up watching porn again,
which I would rather not do. Please help me. Thanks!

ANSWER:
• First, a comment to GML subscribers:
• This question, that seems so bizarre to most Believers, says a lot of what's being taught today to our youth in our public schools and even in many of our churches. Since 1963, the year prayer was forbidden in the schools, Satan has filled the gap with teachers
espousing relativism.
• Our most requested DVDs of all time are by the best-selling Christian author Frank Peretti. He shows how unscriptural the mainstream thinking has become and how ungodly the public schools' influence is on our children. We have a presentation entitled The
Best of Frank Peretti Live! It's an incredible 60 minutes of selected edits from Frank's five Steeling the Mind Bible Conference presentations that he made over a seven-year period. After watching this captivating presentation, your first reaction will be to have
someone else watch it.

• Or you can order this DVD to be mailed to you at compass.org or by calling 800-977-2177.
• ----------------------------------------
• Answer to today's GML question:
• What do we think of your situation? We are dumbfounded. If you are a Believer, someone who has trusted the shed blood of Jesus Christ as payment to eternally remove your sins, you are in tremendous sin and need to repent. If you're not a Believer, you're
one of Satan's children who are blinded.
• Satan, the god of this evil world, has blinded the minds of those who don't believe, so they are unable to see the glorious light of the Good News that is shining upon them. They don't understand the message we preach about the glory of Christ, who is the exact
likeness of God. —2 Corinthians 4:4Whether or not you're having sex before marriage is the least of your problems—you're one breath away from the most horrific eternal fiery damnation that you can imagine. If you're a Believer, you are not trusting God to
meet your every need. Rather you are self-centered in your analysis when you should be Bible-centered. You used the words "me," "my," "I," "we," etc., some 30 times in your question justifying your actions. God doesn't want you to base your decisions on
what you or your boyfriend think (i.e., "porn will meet my needs") or what you or your boyfriend feel (i.e., "need for masturbation"), or lies your boyfriend is telling you (i.e., "not having sex is unhealthy," etc.). Rather, knowing that God loves you and wants
only what is best for you, you should be seeking, "What does God want?" And in this life you'll only be happy, you'll only be satisfied, and you'll only experience true love if you are in God's will.
• Oh, the joys of those
who do not follow the advice of the wicked,
or stand around with sinners,
or join in with scoffers.
But they delight in doing everything the LORD wants;
day and night they think about his law.
They are like trees planted along the riverbank,
bearing fruit each season without fail. Their leaves never wither,
and in all they do, they prosper.
But this is not true of the wicked.
They are like worthless chaff, scattered by the wind.
They will be condemned at the time of judgment.
Sinners will have no place among the godly.
For the LORD watches over the path of the godly,
but the path of the wicked leads to destruction. —Psalm 1:1-6Be careful to listen to all these words which I command you, in order that it may be well with you and your sons after you forever, for you will be doing what is good and right in the sight of the LORD
your God. —Deuteronomy 12:28
• So your basic problems are stemming from a lack of understanding of God's will in your life. To know God's will you need to know Scripture. The Bible tells us that a mature Christian will be able to relate all their thoughts and actions to God's will. In other
words you will be able to "think in verses."
• We are destroying speculations and every lofty thing raised up against the knowledge of God, and we are taking every thought captive to the obedience of Christ, —2 Corinthians 10:5Knowledge of scripture is illuminated by God's Holy Spirit (1 Corinthians 2:9-
16).
• . . . we know these things because God has revealed them to us by his Spirit —1 Corinthians2:10Until you learn Scripture, you will be like a ship without a rudder . . . unable to stay on course and unable to dock for rest or away from a storm. Your questions
indicate you desperately need a scriptural rudder as you seem oblivious to the worldly evaluation you are using that is opening the door to catastrophic sin in your life. The Bible will directly answer most of your questions. For instance, consider what the Bible
says about fornication (sex outside of marriage):
• . . . abstain from . . . fornication —Acts 15:20, 29; Acts 21:25Or do you not know that the unrighteous shall not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived; neither fornicators, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor effeminate, nor homosexuals, nor thieves, nor
the covetous, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor swindlers, shall inherit the kingdom of God. —1 Corinthians 6:9-10
• Let marriage be held in honor among all, and let the marriage bed be undefiled; for fornicators and adulterers God will judge. —Hebrews 13:4
• But the Bible also says:
• And such were some of you; but you were washed, but you were sanctified, but you were justified in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ, and in the Spirit of our God. —1 Corinthians6:11God has provided a way out, through the shed blood of Jesus Christ at Calvary.
Trusting Jesus will put all past, present and future sin behind you forever, never to be remembered again. We are sending you a link to a DVD entitled Are You Sure You're A Christian?

• Why Did God Call It A Sin?
jack, 2014-09-10 00:00, Gracethrufaith.com
• Q. I know homosexuality is a sin but I also know people have trouble with it because they do not
understand why it is wrong for two guys or girls to love each other. I know it is Bibically wrong, but
is there any moral component to this? For example I know stealing is a sin but that’s because it
hurts the persons involved. I am certified to do psychological research so I am wondering why
homosexuality is so wrong (besides the Bible saying it is a sin).
• A. I know you believe that when God says something is a sin that’s all the reason we need. So I
assume your question is, “Why did God call homosexually a sin?”
• In my opinion, there are several reasons. God called it a sin because it violates His commandment
against sex outside of marriage, which He defines as the relationship between a man and a woman.
• It also violates His commandment to be fruitful and increase in number. It’s a perversion of the
method He gave mankind for procreation that cannot produce offspring.
• Also, in Leviticus 18 God listed a number of unlawful sexual acts, one of which was homosexuality
(Lev. 18:22). He said they were the reason He was bringing the Israelites to drive out the nations
that occupied the land He was giving them. He said those nations had defiled the land by
committing the acts He spoke of (Lev. 18:24-25) . He made the commission of those acts punishable
by death for the Israelites and any foreigners living among them (Lev. 18:26,29).
• I have read studies that claim this type of sexual behavior was actually the way those nations
worshiped their gods. The same has been said of other pagan cultures as well. I might add that the
pagans considered those acts to be consensual and culturally acceptable, so technically they
weren’t hurting anyone.
• This tells us the forbidden sexual acts of Lev. 18 all had their origins in the worship of pagan gods,
something God detests. Added to the violations of His commandments I listed above, we can see
why He calls them sins.

• You can download and watch it for free by going to the "GML" folder in the Compass Digital Store—no credit/debit card needed. Enter the discount/coupon code "GML" and it will be free.

But they delight in doing everything the LORD wants;
day and night they think about his law.

• "It is impossibleto rightly govern the world without God and the Bible." GeorgeWashington
•
•
• Foundational Truths
• For George Washington to believe in God, he had to believe that there was an entity outside his life and outside his control Who made the rules.
He and most of our other Founding Fathers trusted God andtheir Bibles. But they weren't lone rangers. For several thousand years people on this planet have trusted the Holy Bible to be the rules and instructions from our Creator God.
•
The Bible that the Founding Fathers trusted explains that mankindhas been corrupted andneeds a Savior. The Bible defines sin and promises hope through an optional personal relationship with Jesus Christ Who singularly and completely paid the price for our sin.
•
• Today Christians world-wide personally choose to believe and trust the Bible to be the Word of God. It's the sole basis for our religion, Christianity. We endeavor to follow its commands that God outlined for our protection.
•
I'm grateful that we live in a country that, in its foundational documents, protects our right to live and worship as we wish. The first words penned in the U.S. Declaration of Independencesay:
•
• "We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are createdequal, that they are endowed bytheir Creator with certain unalienableRights, that among theseare Life, Liberty and thepursuit of Happiness."
•
America's Founding Fathers wrote that they believed they were "Created" by a God outside their lives and outside their control. They not only believed in a Creator God, but also in "Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness."
•
• Therefore,Americans have the liberty and freedomto worship in any way they choose to "pursue happiness."
•
The Bible also says that there is an always-present evil in the world. So our Founding Fathers wrote in the next sentence:
•
• "That to secure theserights, Governments are instituted among Men, deriving their just powers from the consent of the governed,- That wheneveranyForm of Governmentbecomes destructive of theseends, it is the Right of the People to alter or to abolish it, and to institute new Government."
•
The Founding Fathers unabashedlyrecognized that evil is present in the world, and when it becomes destructive of these God-given principles of "Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness,"it's our right as citizens to "alter or abolish."
•
• The Founding Fathers further set up a constitution for a government whose powers are derived from the "consent of the governed." We freely elect who we want to defend our constitution.
•
Every person elected to public office takes an oath to protect and defend the constitution, to protect our lives, liberty and opportunity to pursue happiness. It is their elected duty.
•
• After the constitution was enacted, the very first item in the Bill of Rights was to further guarantee our right to worship as we please.
•
First Amendment to
the Constitution:
• "Congress shallmake no law respecting an establishmentof religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the peoplepeaceablyto assemble, andto petition the Governmentfor a redress of grievances."
•
• That states clearly that the government cannot pass a law "prohibiting the free exercise" of my chosen religion. It's not stating "freedom from religion," but rather "freedom of religion."
•
Fast-forwarding some 237 years, my liberty to worship and live my life according to Biblical principles is being viciously attacked.
•
• Out of the blue, our local city government is being pressured into passing anordinance to protect "GayRights."
•
With very little research it's easy to establish that there is a national agenda and concerted effort across the United States to pass laws in cities to give "protections to a persecuted minority."
•
• Is it the same as Civil Rights in the 60s? M L King in the 60s
• The proponents of such a law compare it to Blacks and the Civil Rights Movement in the 1960s. But is it? No it's not the same, for two reasons.
•
First, according to my Bible and therefore my religion, homosexualbehavior is sinful (Lev 18:22; 1Cor 6:9-11).
•
• "Sin" literally means "missing the mark." It means NOT being the person who God, in His love, created us to be.
•
Sin is "missing the mark"
• When God created us in His image, it was the supreme act of divine love, and everything in His instructions is designed for OUR good, to enhance the life He has given us.
When we sin, or miss that mark, as we all do, the Bible says we are not pursuing life, but rather, we are pursuing death. That's a problem because-
•
• "the wages of sin is death" Rom6:23
•
When humanschoose to do homosexual acts, God and His Bible say it's blatant sin. If you have a problem with homosexuality being sinful, then take it up with God.
•
• Second, God is not a racist and the Bible says He doesn't discriminate against the color of a person's skin. There's no such thing as a "former black person," But there are thousands of "former homosexuals."
•
There are at least 19 studies that include tangible data suggesting that homosexualorientation can be changed. So this is NOT like the civil rights movement!
•
• Homosexuality is clearly voluntary
• There is no homosexual gene. Scientists have searched and searched for a "gay gene," andsome false findings havesurfaced from time to time, but no one has ever found one. It doesn't exist.
•
Homosexual behavior is not inborn but rather, voluntary. There is no compelling, logical basis for treating it as a protected category under civil rights laws or for granting special protection against"discrimination" based on "sexualorientation."
•
• Sin VS Sinner
• Also, it is the "sin," not the "sinner," that the Bible condemns. We, according to the Bible, are ALL sinners. ALL have fallenshort of God's standard. That's why we need a Savior, to save us from our sin.
•
A Christian is just as muchborn a sinner as anyone else. God, through His Holy Word, the Bible, defines what sin is and the remedy to overcome the penalty of sin.
•
• Therefore, whatever God defines as sin, it's His decision and we have no appeal.
•
God defines adultery as sin, therefore Christians mustaccept his definition and flee from it. We may be born with a propensity toward adultery, because we're born with a sin nature. But because God says it's wrong, adultery is wrong.
•
• God defines lying as sin, therefore Christians mustaccept God's definition andflee from it. We may be born with a propensity toward lying because we're born with a sin nature. But because God says it's wrong, lying is wrong.
•
God defines murder as sin, therefore Christians must accept God's definition and flee from it. We may be born with a propensity toward murder because we're born with a sin nature. But because God says it's wrong, murder is wrong.
•
• And God defines homosexual behavior as sin, therefore Christians must accept God's definition and flee from it. We may be born with a propensity toward homosexualbehavior because we're born with a sin nature. But because God says it's wrong, homosexual behavior is wrong.

• What Does God’s Law Mean To Us?
• Thursday, March 6th, 2014Christian Life
• Q. I have been reading the book of Leviticus and my question is this. As a church saved by grace I find that we still refer back
to the law, in this instance, the book of Leviticus for a very detailed and exacting guidance of righteous living before God. I
know these guidelines were written for Israel but some of them were and are still relevant to our life today. Many churches
will point a finger at specific scriptures that they believe support their doctrine (for example tattooing) I would appreciate
some clarity on this subject.
• A. In Matt. 5:17-18 Jesus made it clear that He hadn’t come to abolish the Law, and that not even the tiniest detail of the law
would disappear until everything is fulfilled. Therefore God’s Law still stands. With His death, Jesus paid the penalty that is
due us for our violations of the law (Colossians 2:13-14), but people who don’t accept His death as payment for their sins will
have to bear the penalty themselves.
• I’ll use your example of getting a tattoo to explain how this works. In Leviticus 19:28 God told the Israelites not to put tattoo
marks on themselves. He hasn’t changed His mind about tattoos. He still doesn’t like them because He considers us to be an
example of His workmanship (Ephes. 2:10), and doesn’t like to see us deface what He has made. To Him, it’s a little like
painting graffiti on a beautiful building.
• Because Jesus paid the penalty for all our sins, we cannot not be punished for getting a tattoo, or for breaking any of God’s
other laws. Our decision to do so should be based on whether it bothers us to know He would prefer if we didn’t.
• Speaking of this Paul wrote, “Everything is permissible, but not everything is beneficial. Everything is permissible, but not
everything is constructive” (1 Cor. 10:23). We’re free to do anything, because the penalties for our sins are already paid, and
we have a righteousness from God apart from the Law, through faith in Jesus Christ (Romans 3:21-24). But being free to do
something does not mean it’s a good thing to do.

1 Cor. 6:9-10, OSAS
Once Saved Always Saved
• Q. I have problems with OSAS, because I believe that if a person chooses to live in deliberate sin, he has to repent
of it before he can be raptured. For example, our daughter, who we believe was saved–she’d loved Jesus since age
3-4, was baptized by immersion-at her own request- at 8, wanted to be a missionary, going on 3 short-term mission
trips–has become a liberal in every sense, is committed to a long-term lesbian relationship, considering herself
married. We love her, of course, but have difficulty in believing she will go with us in the rapture of the church
based on our understanding of 1 Cor. 6:9-10, which says in part that homosexuals cannot inherit the kingdom of
God. Wouldn’t our daughter need a time of purification– with repentance– before she could inherit the Kingdom?
• A. Unless you can show me some Biblical support for your position I’ll assume you’re speaking out of your
disappointment in your daughter’s behavior rather than your knowledge of God’s word. I’ve heard lots of people
in your situation quote 1 Cor. 6:9-10 to justify their position. But they always stop short of completing Paul’s
thought by leaving out verse 11, which says;
• “And that is what some of you were. But you were washed, you were sanctified, you were justified in the name of
the Lord Jesus Christ and by the Spirit of our God.” Notice Paul said, “That’s what some of you were” meaning
before they were washed, sanctified and justified, or in other words purified.
• Taking all of Paul’s epistles into consideration shows all of our sins (all means each and every, the whole) were
forgiven at the cross (Colossians 2:13-14), that our salvation was assured from the time we believed (Ephesians
1:13-14), that God Himself took ownership of us at that time and sent His spirit to dwell in us as a deposit
guaranteeing this (2 Cor. 1:21-22), that He sees us as a new creation in Christ (2 Cor 5:17) and no longer attributes
our sins to us but to the sin that lives in us (Romans 7:18-20), and that at the rapture we’ll all be changed from
corruptible to incorruptible (1 Cor. 15:51-53).
• All this should neither be seen as a license to sin nor as an admonition to approve of any and all types of behavior
from others. Rather it should be received as a recognition that we’re all sinners of one sort or another, and that
our sins have been forgiven and will not prevent us from participating in the rapture.
• We are saved because of what we believe, not because of how we behave.

1 Corinthians 6:12, Legalism
gotquestions.org
• Question: "What does the Bible say about legalism? How can a Christian avoid falling into the trap of legalism?"
• Answer: The word “legalism” does not occur in the Bible. It is a term Christians use to describe a doctrinal position
emphasizing a system of rules and regulations for achieving both salvation and spiritual growth. Legalists believe in and
demand a strict literal adherence to rules and regulations. Doctrinally, it is a position essentially opposed to grace. Those
who hold a legalistic position often fail to see the real purpose for law, especially the purpose of the Old Testament law
of Moses, which is to be our “schoolmaster” or “tutor” to bring us to Christ (Galatians 3:24).
• Even true believers can be legalistic. We are instructed, rather, to be gracious to one another: “Accept him whose faith is
weak, without passing judgment on disputable matters” (Romans 14:1). Sadly, there are those who feel so strongly
about non-essential doctrines that they will run others out of their fellowship, not even allowing the expression of
another viewpoint. That, too, is legalism. Many legalistic believers today make the error of demanding unqualified
adherence to their own biblical interpretations and even to their own traditions. For example, there are those who feel
that to be spiritual one must simply avoid tobacco, alcoholic beverages, dancing, movies, etc. The truth is that avoiding
these things is no guarantee of spirituality.
• The apostle Paul warns us of legalism in Colossians 2:20-23: “Since you died with Christ to the basic principles of this
world, why, as though you still belonged to it, do you submit to its rules: ‘Do not handle! Do not taste! Do not touch!’?
These are all destined to perish with use, because they are based on human commands and teachings. Such regulations
indeed have an appearance of wisdom, with their self-imposed worship, their false humility and their harsh treatment of
the body, but they lack any value in restraining sensual indulgence.” Legalists may appear to be righteous and spiritual,
but legalism ultimately fails to accomplish God’s purposes because it is an outward performance instead of an inward
change.
• To avoid falling into the trap of legalism, we can start by holding fast to the words of the apostle John, “For the law was
given through Moses; grace and truth came through Jesus Christ” (John 1:17) and remembering to be gracious,
especially to our brothers and sisters in Christ. “Who are you to judge someone else's servant? To his own master he
stands or falls. And he will stand, for the Lord is able to make him stand” (Romans 14:4). “You, then, why do you judge
your brother? Or why do you look down on your brother? For we will all stand before God's judgment seat” (Romans
14:10).

To help Christians to "to grow up in all aspects into Him who is the head, even Christ." So that "we are no longer...tossed here and there...by every wind of doctrine." They may be downloaded and modified free of charge. Matthew 10:8 …Freely you received, freely give.
  • 4. 1 Corinthians 6:1 Christians Should Not Sue Christians • NAU 1 Corinthians 6:1 Does any one of you, when he has a case against his neighbor, dare to go to law before the unrighteous and not before the saints? • NAU Genesis 13:8 So Abram said to Lot, "Please let there be no strife between you and me, nor between my herdsmen and your herdsmen, for we are brothers. 9 "Is not the whole land before you? Please separate from me; if to the left, then I will go to the right; or if to the right, then I will go to the left.” • NAU 1 Corinthians 3:3 for you are still fleshly. For since there is jealousy and strife among you, are you not fleshly, and are you not walking like mere men?
  • 5. 1 Corinthians 6:1 Christians Should Not Sue Christians • NAU Philippians 2:14 Do all things without grumbling or disputing; • NAU 2 Corinthians 12:20 For I am afraid that perhaps when I come I may find you to be not what I wish and may be found by you to be not what you wish; that perhaps there will be strife, jealousy, angry tempers, disputes, slanders, gossip, arrogance, disturbances;
  • 6. 1 Corinthians 6:1 Christians Should Not Sue Christians • Irenaeus said, “There is no need to look anywhere else for truth which we can easily obtain from the church. The apostles have, as it were, deposited this truth in all its fullness in this depository, so that whoever wants to may draw from this water of life. This is the gate of life; all others are thieves and robbers.”
  • 7. 1 Corinthians 6:2, “to judge” • NKJ 1 Corinthians 6:2 Do you not know that the saints will judge [krino] the world? And if the world will be judged [krino] by you, are you unworthy to judge [kriterion] the smallest matters? • <2919> κρίνω krino • Meaning: to judge, decide… • 2922 κριτήριον kriterion {kree-tay'-ree-on} • Meaning: 1) the instrument or means of trying or judging anything 1a) the rule by which one judges 2) the place where judgment is given… 7

Since the Lord Himself will judge fallen angels (2 Pet. 2:4; Jude 6), it is likely this means we will have some rule in eternity over holy angels. Since angels are "ministering spirits" to serve the saints (Heb. 1:14), it seems reasonable that they will serve us in glory.” 1 0

  • 25. A REFORMATION THE CHURCH DOESN’T NEED: ANSWERING REVISIONIST PRO-GAY THEOLOGY– PART I By Gregory Koukl and Alan Shlemon • http://www.str.org/Media/Default/Publications/Aug%202015%20The%20Reformation%20the%20Church%20Doesn't%20Need%20Part%201-1.pdf • By Gregory Koukl and Alan Shlemon • “The scene was familiar: a church filled with joyful Christians, singing well-known hymns, praising God with arms outstretched, enjoying beautiful, bountiful fellowship with each other. There was one significant difference, though, between this gathering and one you probably attend. All the participants were either homosexual or “gay affirming.” Plus, they’re on a mission to change your mind and your congregation’s theology about homosexuality. It’s being called a new Reformation, but this is a reformation we do not need. These people are organized, serious, and single-minded—and you need to be ready for them, because and they are coming to your church. The Reformation Project (TRP), founded by Matthew Vines, is one of a number of organizations1 in this movement hosting conferences around the country.2 Their mission: “We are dedicated to training LGBT3 Christians and their allies to reform church teaching on sexual orientation and gender identity through the teaching of the Bible.” 4 TRP’s statement of faith is standard Evangelical fare, including a commitment to “the inspiration of the Bible, the Word of God…the Triune God… [Jesus’] death for our sins, His resurrection and eventual return…and the regenerative power of the Holy Spirit.” Their conferences engage all the relevant Scriptures and standard challenges to the gayfriendly view. Drawing from the writings of legitimate scholars, they teach the conferees hermeneutics and theology combined with tactically clever and rhetorically compelling talking points. Then they role-play the responses in a winsome and attractive way. It’s essentially a Stand to Reason for revisionist pro-gay theology. THIS CONCLUSION IS BASED ON A SELECTIVE USE OF THE HISTORICAL EVIDENCE FROM ANCIENT NEAR EAST CULTURE.4 not the slightest hint in any biblical passage that condemnation of homosexuality is based on—and therefore limited to coercive or oppressive, samesex activity. Instead, the Scripture consistently makes a different point, one emphasized with every passage in question. To see that point clearly, though, we need to go back to the beginning. “From the Beginning…” Two thousand years ago, Jesus of Nazareth based an argument about marriage on a simple observation about the created order: Humans are made male and female. They are gendered. When confronted with the revisionist teaching on marriage of His own day, Jesus said: Have you not read that He who created them from the beginning made them male and female and said, “For this reason a man shall leave his father and mother and be joined to his wife, and the two shall become one flesh”? So they are no longer two, but one flesh. What therefore God has joined together, let no man separate. (Matt. 19:4-6)9 Jesus answered a question about divorce by going back to the beginning, to God’s original intention for marriage: one man, with one woman, becoming one flesh, for one lifetime. That was Jesus’ view. Contrary to common assertion, then, Jesus did have something to say about homosexuality. From the beginning God had designed, intended, and endorsed marriage and sex (“one flesh”) solely for long term, monogamous, heterosexual unions. Indeed, gendered human bodies reflect that purpose: men and women designed to function together, to fit each other physically in a complementary way. Simply put, the man was made for the woman and the woman was made for the man. Reject that function and replace it with another, and you reject God’s own good purpose for sex. Author Kevin DeYoung sums up the revisionist approach nicely in his recent critique: The issue was not gender (whether the lovers were male or female), but gender roles (whether a man was overly feminized and acting like a woman). The issue was not men having sex with men, but men having sex with boys. The issue was not consensual same-sex sexual intimacy, but gang rape, power imbalances, and systemic oppression. The revisionist case can take many forms, but central to most of them is the “not that kind of homosexuality!” argument. We can safely set aside the scriptural prohibitions against homosexual behavior because we are comparing apples and oranges: we are talking in our day about committed, consensual, lifelong partnerships, something the biblical authors in their day knew nothing about.7 Thus, on this view the Bible does not prohibit homosexuality per se, only abusive forms of homosexuality like pederasty, master-slave exploitation, promiscuity, rape, victimization, etc. We have two general responses to this claim before we address the biblical case directly. First, this conclusion is based on a selective use of the historical evidence from ancient Near East culture. Examples of exploitive sexuality abound in the literature, to be sure. However, a variety of non-abusive homosexual practices show up in the record, too—including all of the “loving” variations we witness today (except, notably, “gay Christians”). There are even references to nascent notions of what we would now call “sexual orientation.”8 As it turns out then, in the ancient Near East “committed, consensual, lifelong partnerships” did exist, in addition to the exploitive forms. Why, then, presume the biblical texts merely forbid the second, but not the first? By what logic can biblical passages be said to inveigh only against the “abusive” practices and not homosexual conduct itself? Second, Scripture nowhere makes this notthat-kind-of-homosexuality distinction. There’s BY WHAT LOGIC CAN BIBLICAL PASSAGES BE SAID TO INVEIGH ONLY AGAINST THE “ABUSIVE” PRACTICES AND NOT HOMOSEXUAL CONDUCT ITSELF?5 not a problem, only sexual violence and social injustice. Are they right? Of course, the above explanations are not mutually exclusive and may have been factors in their own way. Thus, according to the revisionist view, God annihilated two entire cities in part because a gang of ruffians hoped to sexually assault two men they never actually touched. This seems odd. It’s hard to believe that merely attempting a crime—even one as despicable as rape—would bring annihilation. I think we can eliminate that option. Second, Jude 7 says, “Sodom and Gomorrah and the cities around them…indulged in gross immorality and went after strange flesh” (sarkos heteras). Yes, sex with angels would be strange, but there is absolutely no indication the men of Sodom—or even Lot—knew the visitors were angels. Further, the strange-flesh sex was happening in neighboring cities as well. More angels? Doubtful. The “strange flesh” that appealed to the sexual appetites of the men of that region • clearly was not angelic flesh. Eliminate that option, too. Third, nothing that happened at Lot’s house that night could have been the reason God destroyed Sodom and Gomorrah neither attempted gang rape, nor sex with angels, nor anything else that took place that evening. Why? Because God had sent the angels to visit judgment before those incidents ever happened: “We are about to destroy this • place, because their outcry has become so great before the Lord that the Lord has sent us to destroy it” (Gen.19:13).13 Something terrible had been going on for so long in the those two cities and beyond that God’s judgment was a fait accompli before the angels even arrived—meant as a vivid example of Divine Sam Allberry, himself a Christian managing samesex attraction, put it this way: “What was going on with Adam and Eve explains what has gone on ever since. The perfect ‘fit’ between the two of them is the foundation for every human marriage since. The account is not just about their union, but every marriage union.”10 Not surprisingly, then, the six sexual activities prohibited in the Bible—adultery, fornication, rape, incest, bestiality, and homosexuality—each involve sex with 25 Don't squint! • 57. 1 Corinthians 6:11, What does the Bible say about transsexualism / transgenderism? Is gender identity disorder / gender dysphoria the result of sin?” transvestites • Question: "What does the Bible say about transsexualism / transgenderism? Is gender identity disorder / gender dysphoria the result of sin?" • Answer: Transsexualism, also known as transgenderism, Gender Identity Disorder (GID), or gender dysphoria, is a desire to change one’s sex or to fulfill the role of the opposite gender. Transsexuals / transgenders usually describe themselves as “trapped” in a body that does not match their gender. They will probably practice transvestism / transvestitism and may also seek hormone therapy and/or surgery to bring their bodies into conformity with their perceived gender. • The Bible has plenty to say about human sexuality. Most basic to our understanding of sex is that God created two (and only two) genders: “male and female He created them” (Genesis 1:27). All the modern-day speculation about numerous genders—or even a gender “continuum” with unlimited genders—is unbiblical. • In Psalm 139, we learn that God fashions each one of us. “For you created my inmost being; you knit me together in my mother's womb. I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made. . . . My frame was not hidden from you when I was made in the secret place. . . . your eyes saw my unformed body” (verses 13-16). God’s creation of each individual must surely include His designation of gender/sex. His wonderful work leaves no room for mistakes; no one is born with the “wrong body.” • After the fall of man, it did not take long for gender issues to become confused. In Abraham’s day, homosexuality was widespread in some cities (Genesis 19:1-7; Jude 7). The Bible is unmistakably clear that homosexuality is a sinful perversion of God’s gift of sexuality (Romans 1:18-32; 1 Corinthians 6:9-10). • In the Law, transvestism / transvestitism was specifically forbidden: “A woman must not wear men’s clothing, nor a man wear women’s clothing, for the Lord your God detests anyone who does this” (Deuteronomy 22:5). • Another possible reference to transsexualism is 1 Corinthians 6:9, where “male prostitutes” is listed as a separate category from “homosexual offenders.” The King James Version uses the word “effeminate” here; that is to say, the “male prostitutes” might be transsexual men who act as women. • No matter if the gender distortion has a genetic, hormonal, physiological, or psychological cause, the Bible clearly and consistently labels any sexual activity outside of marriage or not between a man and a woman as sin, rebellion against God’s plan. But following this realization is good news: sin can be forgiven and lives can be changed through faith in 57

  • 59. My Open Letter of Apology to the Gay Community (From A Christian) • I’m seeing quite a few open letters of apology from Christians to the gay community in light of the recent Supreme Court ruling on gay marriage. At first, I was angry. “What are we apologizing for again?!?,” I thought. As a conservative Christian, I was annoyed. It seemed – at first – to be capitulation on a very important issue. After reading more than a few of these open letters of apology, however, my heart has softened on the issue. I realize that conservative Christians like myself are in the clear minority. The Supreme Court has ruled. Other churches, like the Episcopalians just yesterday, have found it in their heart to soften from their historic, traditional opinions. And as much as religious people love the past, I’ve had to come to grips with the reality that this – gay marriage – is our present and no doubt, our future. • There comes that moment – even for Christians steeped in conservative traditions – to recognize when the times have changed…and the times have changed. Taking a cue from other Christians who find a sense of closure in writing an open letter of apology to the gay community, I will follow suit and apologize for several things on behalf of not just myself, but my fellow Christians. • Dear Gay Community, • As a Christian who has been forced to evaluate where I stand in recent days in light of Scripture, in both tone and message, I would like to apologize for myself and other Christians… • 1. I’m sorry that any of us ever referred to you as a “gay community.” Really, that’s not helpful. A “community” is a group of individuals that either live in the same place or share the same values. Sodomy (defined as unnatural and immoral sexual behavior) is not a value. Sodomy is a deviancy. Now, if you defined “community” as sharing interests and not values, then there could theoretically be a gay community because you hold unnatural and immoral sexual behavior as a common interest. However, to call you a “community” would legitimize this sin in a way that we don’t legitimize any other sin. For example, we don’t recognize “the thieving community” or the “the lying community” or “the bank-robbing community” or “the rapist community” or the “white collar criminal community.” If communities could be founded upon self-destructive behavior, those communities would be self-defeating, and a self-defeating community is no community at all. In fact, a truly “gay community” would be extinct within one generation. Your unnatural sexual deviancy leads to death; legitimate communities are self- populating and regenerative. It was a dumb term for Christians to start using, and I apologize for all of those who inadvertently give credence to the narrative that yours is a community and not a group of sinners who share in community-destroying behavior. 59
  • 60. 1 Cor 6:2-3, Rule And Reign On Earth, Reigning With The Lord http://gracethrufaith.com/ask-a-bible-teacher • http://gracethrufaith.com/ask-a-bible-teacher • Reigning With The Lord • Friday, January 17th, 2014Church • Millennium • Q. In one of your answers you mentioned that we’ll be reigning with Jesus in New Jerusalem. Now, my question is this: How can we reign with Him? Does He need our assistance or advice? Maybe we’ll represent him in some part of the planet to other peoples and tribes? If so how can we then be at the same time in the New Jerusalem? Or will we just enjoy His presence and eternal fellowship as He will be simultaneously with us in the New Jerusalem and on the surface of the planet Earth? • A. Speaking of the Church, Rev. 5:10 says, “You have made us to be kings and priests to serve our God and we will reign on Earth.” In 1 Cor 6:2-3 Paul said we’ll judge both the world and the angels. The Greek word for judge also means to rule over or govern, and in Biblical times rulers were also judges. • In John 14:1-2 the Lord said that that our home will be “in my father’s house” and Rev 21:27 says that only those whose names are written in the Lamb’s Book of Life can inhabit the New Jerusalem. Only the Church’s names are so inscribed. We’re not informed as to how all of this will translate into daily activity, but the Bible clearly promises these things. • Being with the Lord doesn’t necessarily mean we’ll be at His side every moment of every day, any more than a husband and wife who are “with”each other are always in each others presence. And remember, when Jesus came out of the tomb it was as a physical being (Luke 24:39). I take that to mean He’s a physical being today. When He told the disciples He would be with us, always, even to the end of the age (Matt. 28:20), He didn’t mean physically standing in our presence, He meant in spirit through the Holy Spirit. Therefore I don’t think of Him as physically being on Earth and in the New Jerusalem at the same time. • Finally, throughout history, earthly kings have ruled portions of their kingdoms without being physically present there. (Think of the King of England who also ruled Canada, Australia, India and Hong Kong at the same time.) Surely if they could do that in their natural states then it wouldn’t be a problem for the Lord, or for us either.
  • 61. 1 Corinthians 6:9-10, Sex before marriage, Fornication, Fornicators And Adulterers • QUESTION FOR THE DAY • Dear Compass, • When I met my boyfriend, I became closer to God again. However, I found myself questioning my boyfriend when we go out to parties, wondering if we should really be having sex because God says we shouldn't before getting married. Then we came to an agreement: "Well, I think it should be OK as I'm pretty sure we'll be the ones marrying each other." And later in our relationship, I asked him what he would do if we stopped having sex until we get engaged/married. Then he said he would have to masturbate because he saw some research that it wouldn't be healthy if he didn't do anything for months/years. Later, we came up with another solution. We both came to an agreement that we promise to never have sex with anyone and would continue to have sex until our engagement period. Once we get engaged, we should stop having sex for about six months or until we officially get married. What do you think of the whole situation? I mean I'm sure if I stopped having sex, too, I would end up watching porn again, which I would rather not do. Please help me. Thanks! • ANSWER: • First, a comment to GML subscribers: • This question, that seems so bizarre to most Believers, says a lot of what's being taught today to our youth in our public schools and even in many of our churches. Since 1963, the year prayer was forbidden in the schools, Satan has filled the gap with teachers espousing relativism. • Our most requested DVDs of all time are by the best-selling Christian author Frank Peretti. He shows how unscriptural the mainstream thinking has become and how ungodly the public schools' influence is on our children. We have a presentation entitled The Best of Frank Peretti Live! It's an incredible 60 minutes of selected edits from Frank's five Steeling the Mind Bible Conference presentations that he made over a seven-year period. Enter the discount/coupon code "GML" and it will be free. • Or you can order this DVD to be mailed to you at compass.org or by calling 800-977-2177. • ---------------------------------------- • Answer to today's GML question: • What do we think of your situation? We are dumbfounded. If you are a Believer, someone who has trusted the shed blood of Jesus Christ as payment to eternally remove your sins, you are in tremendous sin and need to repent. If you're not a Believer, you're one of Satan's children who are blinded. • Satan, the god of this evil world, has blinded the minds of those who don't believe, so they are unable to see the glorious light of the Good News that is shining upon them. They don't understand the message we preach about the glory of Christ, who is the exact likeness of God. —2 Corinthians 4:4Whether or not you're having sex before marriage is the least of your problems—you're one breath away from the most horrific eternal fiery damnation that you can imagine. If you're a Believer, you are not trusting God to meet your every need. Rather you are self-centered in your analysis when you should be Bible-centered. You used the words "me," "my," "I," "we," etc., some 30 times in your question justifying your actions. God doesn't want you to base your decisions on what you or your boyfriend think (i.e., "porn will meet my needs") or what you or your boyfriend feel (i.e., "need for masturbation"), or lies your boyfriend is telling you (i.e., "not having sex is unhealthy," etc.). Rather, knowing that God loves you and wants only what is best for you, you should be seeking, "What does God want?" And in this life you'll only be happy, you'll only be satisfied, and you'll only experience true love if you are in God's will. • Oh, the joys of those who do not follow the advice of the wicked, or stand around with sinners, or join in with scoffers. But they delight in doing everything the LORD wants; day and night they think about his law. They are like trees planted along the riverbank, bearing fruit each season without fail. Their leaves never wither, and in all they do, they prosper. But this is not true of the wicked. They are like worthless chaff, scattered by the wind. They will be condemned at the time of judgment. Sinners will have no place among the godly. For the LORD watches over the path of the godly, but the path of the wicked leads to destruction. —Psalm 1:1-6Be careful to listen to all these words which I command you, in order that it may be well with you and your sons after you forever, for you will be doing what is good and right in the sight of the LORD your God. —Deuteronomy 12:28 • So your basic problems are stemming from a lack of understanding of God's will in your life. To know God's will you need to know Scripture. The Bible tells us that a mature Christian will be able to relate all their thoughts and actions to God's will. In other words you will be able to "think in verses." • We are destroying speculations and every lofty thing raised up against the knowledge of God, and we are taking every thought captive to the obedience of Christ, —2 Corinthians 10:5Knowledge of scripture is illuminated by God's Holy Spirit (1 Corinthians 2:9- 16). • . . . we know these things because God has revealed them to us by his Spirit —1 Corinthians2:10Until you learn Scripture, you will be like a ship without a rudder . . . unable to stay on course and unable to dock for rest or away from a storm. Your questions indicate you desperately need a scriptural rudder as you seem oblivious to the worldly evaluation you are using that is opening the door to catastrophic sin in your life. The Bible will directly answer most of your questions. For instance, consider what the Bible says about fornication (sex outside of marriage): • . . . abstain from . . . fornication —Acts 15:20, 29; Acts 21:25Or do you not know that the unrighteous shall not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived; neither fornicators, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor effeminate, nor homosexuals, nor thieves, nor the covetous, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor swindlers, shall inherit the kingdom of God. —1 Corinthians 6:9-10 • Let marriage be held in honor among all, and let the marriage bed be undefiled; for fornicators and adulterers God will judge. —Hebrews 13:4 • But the Bible also says: • And such were some of you; but you were washed, but you were sanctified, but you were justified in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ, and in the Spirit of our God. —1 Corinthians6:11God has provided a way out, through the shed blood of Jesus Christ at Calvary. Trusting Jesus will put all past, present and future sin behind you forever, never to be remembered again. • 62. Homosexuality, Gracethrufaith.com • Why Did God Call It A Sin? jack, 2014-09-10 00:00, Gracethrufaith.com • Q. I know homosexuality is a sin but I also know people have trouble with it because they do not understand why it is wrong for two guys or girls to love each other. I know it is Bibically wrong, but is there any moral component to this? For example I know stealing is a sin but that’s because it hurts the persons involved. I am certified to do psychological research so I am wondering why homosexuality is so wrong (besides the Bible saying it is a sin). • A. I know you believe that when God says something is a sin that’s all the reason we need. So I assume your question is, “Why did God call homosexually a sin?” • In my opinion, there are several reasons. God called it a sin because it violates His commandment against sex outside of marriage, which He defines as the relationship between a man and a woman. • It also violates His commandment to be fruitful and increase in number. It’s a perversion of the method He gave mankind for procreation that cannot produce offspring. • Also, in Leviticus 18 God listed a number of unlawful sexual acts, one of which was homosexuality (Lev. 18:22). He said they were the reason He was bringing the Israelites to drive out the nations that occupied the land He was giving them. He said those nations had defiled the land by committing the acts He spoke of (Lev. 18:24-25) . He made the commission of those acts punishable by death for the Israelites and any foreigners living among them (Lev. 18:26,29). • I have read studies that claim this type of sexual behavior was actually the way those nations worshiped their gods. The same has been said of other pagan cultures as well. I might add that the pagans considered those acts to be consensual and culturally acceptable, so technically they weren’t hurting anyone. • This tells us the forbidden sexual acts of Lev. 18 all had their origins in the worship of pagan gods, something God detests. Added to the violations of His commandments I listed above, we can see why He calls them sins.

  • 64. The Gaying of America, Compass International, Inc. • The Gaying of America • • • • • • "It is impossibleto rightly govern the world without God and the Bible." GeorgeWashington • • • Foundational Truths • For George Washington to believe in God, he had to believe that there was an entity outside his life and outside his control Who made the rules. He and most of our other Founding Fathers trusted God andtheir Bibles. But they weren't lone rangers. For several thousand years people on this planet have trusted the Holy Bible to be the rules and instructions from our Creator God. • The Bible that the Founding Fathers trusted explains that mankindhas been corrupted andneeds a Savior. The Bible defines sin and promises hope through an optional personal relationship with Jesus Christ Who singularly and completely paid the price for our sin. • • Today Christians world-wide personally choose to believe and trust the Bible to be the Word of God. It's the sole basis for our religion, Christianity. We endeavor to follow its commands that God outlined for our protection. • I'm grateful that we live in a country that, in its foundational documents, protects our right to live and worship as we wish. The first words penned in the U.S. Declaration of Independencesay: • • "We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are createdequal, that they are endowed bytheir Creator with certain unalienableRights, that among theseare Life, Liberty and thepursuit of Happiness." • America's Founding Fathers wrote that they believed they were "Created" by a God outside their lives and outside their control. They not only believed in a Creator God, but also in "Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness." • • Therefore,Americans have the liberty and freedomto worship in any way they choose to "pursue happiness." • The Bible also says that there is an always-present evil in the world. So our Founding Fathers wrote in the next sentence: • • "That to secure theserights, Governments are instituted among Men, deriving their just powers from the consent of the governed,- That wheneveranyForm of Governmentbecomes destructive of theseends, it is the Right of the People to alter or to abolish it, and to institute new Government." • The Founding Fathers unabashedlyrecognized that evil is present in the world, and when it becomes destructive of these God-given principles of "Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness,"it's our right as citizens to "alter or abolish." • • The Founding Fathers further set up a constitution for a government whose powers are derived from the "consent of the governed." We freely elect who we want to defend our constitution. • Every person elected to public office takes an oath to protect and defend the constitution, to protect our lives, liberty and opportunity to pursue happiness. It is their elected duty. • • After the constitution was enacted, the very first item in the Bill of Rights was to further guarantee our right to worship as we please. • First Amendment to the Constitution: • "Congress shallmake no law respecting an establishmentof religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the peoplepeaceablyto assemble, andto petition the Governmentfor a redress of grievances." • • That states clearly that the government cannot pass a law "prohibiting the free exercise" of my chosen religion. It's not stating "freedom from religion," but rather "freedom of religion." • Fast-forwarding some 237 years, my liberty to worship and live my life according to Biblical principles is being viciously attacked. • • Out of the blue, our local city government is being pressured into passing anordinance to protect "GayRights." • With very little research it's easy to establish that there is a national agenda and concerted effort across the United States to pass laws in cities to give "protections to a persecuted minority." • • Is it the same as Civil Rights in the 60s? M L King in the 60s • The proponents of such a law compare it to Blacks and the Civil Rights Movement in the 1960s. But is it? No it's not the same, for two reasons. • First, according to my Bible and therefore my religion, homosexualbehavior is sinful (Lev 18:22; 1Cor 6:9-11). • • "Sin" literally means "missing the mark." It means NOT being the person who God, in His love, created us to be. • Sin is "missing the mark" • When God created us in His image, it was the supreme act of divine love, and everything in His instructions is designed for OUR good, to enhance the life He has given us. When we sin, or miss that mark, as we all do, the Bible says we are not pursuing life, but rather, we are pursuing death. That's a problem because- • • "the wages of sin is death" Rom6:23 • When humanschoose to do homosexual acts, God and His Bible say it's blatant sin. If you have a problem with homosexuality being sinful, then take it up with God. • • Second, God is not a racist and the Bible says He doesn't discriminate against the color of a person's skin. There's no such thing as a "former black person," But there are thousands of "former homosexuals." • There are at least 19 studies that include tangible data suggesting that homosexualorientation can be changed. So this is NOT like the civil rights movement! • • Homosexuality is clearly voluntary • There is no homosexual gene. Scientists have searched and searched for a "gay gene," andsome false findings havesurfaced from time to time, but no one has ever found one. It doesn't exist. • Homosexual behavior is not inborn but rather, voluntary. There is no compelling, logical basis for treating it as a protected category under civil rights laws or for granting special protection against"discrimination" based on "sexualorientation." • • Sin VS Sinner • Also, it is the "sin," not the "sinner," that the Bible condemns. We, according to the Bible, are ALL sinners. ALL have fallenshort of God's standard. That's why we need a Savior, to save us from our sin. • A Christian is just as muchborn a sinner as anyone else. God, through His Holy Word, the Bible, defines what sin is and the remedy to overcome the penalty of sin. • • Therefore, whatever God defines as sin, it's His decision and we have no appeal. • God defines adultery as sin, therefore Christians mustaccept his definition and flee from it. We may be born with a propensity toward adultery, because we're born with a sin nature. But because God says it's wrong, adultery is wrong. • • God defines lying as sin, therefore Christians mustaccept God's definition andflee from it. We may be born with a propensity toward lying because we're born with a sin nature. But because God says it's wrong, lying is wrong. • God defines murder as sin, therefore Christians must accept God's definition and flee from it. We may be born with a propensity toward murder because we're born with a sin nature. But because God says it's wrong, murder is wrong. • • And God defines homosexual behavior as sin, therefore Christians must accept God's definition and flee from it. We may be born with a propensity toward homosexualbehavior because we're born with a sin nature. But because God says it's wrong, homosexual behavior is wrong.
  • 65. 1cor 6;12 • What Does God’s Law Mean To Us? • Thursday, March 6th, 2014Christian Life • Q. I have been reading the book of Leviticus and my question is this. As a church saved by grace I find that we still refer back to the law, in this instance, the book of Leviticus for a very detailed and exacting guidance of righteous living before God. I know these guidelines were written for Israel but some of them were and are still relevant to our life today. Many churches will point a finger at specific scriptures that they believe support their doctrine (for example tattooing) I would appreciate some clarity on this subject. • A. In Matt. 5:17-18 Jesus made it clear that He hadn’t come to abolish the Law, and that not even the tiniest detail of the law would disappear until everything is fulfilled. Therefore God’s Law still stands. With His death, Jesus paid the penalty that is due us for our violations of the law (Colossians 2:13-14), but people who don’t accept His death as payment for their sins will have to bear the penalty themselves. • I’ll use your example of getting a tattoo to explain how this works. In Leviticus 19:28 God told the Israelites not to put tattoo marks on themselves. He hasn’t changed His mind about tattoos. He still doesn’t like them because He considers us to be an example of His workmanship (Ephes. 2:10), and doesn’t like to see us deface what He has made. To Him, it’s a little like painting graffiti on a beautiful building. • Because Jesus paid the penalty for all our sins, we cannot not be punished for getting a tattoo, or for breaking any of God’s other laws. Our decision to do so should be based on whether it bothers us to know He would prefer if we didn’t. • Speaking of this Paul wrote, “Everything is permissible, but not everything is beneficial. Everything is permissible, but not everything is constructive” (1 Cor. 10:23). We’re free to do anything, because the penalties for our sins are already paid, and we have a righteousness from God apart from the Law, through faith in Jesus Christ (Romans 3:21-24). But being free to do something does not mean it’s a good thing to do. • http://gracethrufaith.com/ask-a-bible-teacher/gods-law-mean- us/?utm_source=feedburner&utm_medium=email&utm_campaign=Feed%3A+Gracethrufaith+%28GraceThruFaith%29

  • 68. 1 Cor. 6:9-10, OSAS Once Saved Always Saved • Q. I have problems with OSAS, because I believe that if a person chooses to live in deliberate sin, he has to repent of it before he can be raptured. For example, our daughter, who we believe was saved–she’d loved Jesus since age 3-4, was baptized by immersion-at her own request- at 8, wanted to be a missionary, going on 3 short-term mission trips–has become a liberal in every sense, is committed to a long-term lesbian relationship, considering herself married. We love her, of course, but have difficulty in believing she will go with us in the rapture of the church based on our understanding of 1 Cor. 6:9-10, which says in part that homosexuals cannot inherit the kingdom of God. Wouldn’t our daughter need a time of purification– with repentance– before she could inherit the Kingdom? • A. Unless you can show me some Biblical support for your position I’ll assume you’re speaking out of your disappointment in your daughter’s behavior rather than your knowledge of God’s word. I’ve heard lots of people in your situation quote 1 Cor. 6:9-10 to justify their position. But they always stop short of completing Paul’s thought by leaving out verse 11, which says; • “And that is what some of you were. But you were washed, you were sanctified, you were justified in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ and by the Spirit of our God.” Notice Paul said, “That’s what some of you were” meaning before they were washed, sanctified and justified, or in other words purified. • Taking all of Paul’s epistles into consideration shows all of our sins (all means each and every, the whole) were forgiven at the cross (Colossians 2:13-14), that our salvation was assured from the time we believed (Ephesians 1:13-14), that God Himself took ownership of us at that time and sent His spirit to dwell in us as a deposit guaranteeing this (2 Cor. 1:21-22), that He sees us as a new creation in Christ (2 Cor 5:17) and no longer attributes our sins to us but to the sin that lives in us (Romans 7:18-20), and that at the rapture we’ll all be changed from corruptible to incorruptible (1 Cor. 15:51-53). • All this should neither be seen as a license to sin nor as an admonition to approve of any and all types of behavior from others. Rather it should be received as a recognition that we’re all sinners of one sort or another, and that our sins have been forgiven and will not prevent us from participating in the rapture. • We are saved because of what we believe, not because of how we behave. • http://gracethrufaith.com/ask-a-bible-teacher/osas-1-cor-69- 10/?utm_source=feedburner&utm_medium=email&utm_campaign=Feed%3A+Gracethrufaith+%28GraceThruFaith %29
  • 69. 1 Corinthians 6:12, Legalism gotquestions.org • Question: "What does the Bible say about legalism? How can a Christian avoid falling into the trap of legalism?" • Answer: The word “legalism” does not occur in the Bible. It is a term Christians use to describe a doctrinal position emphasizing a system of rules and regulations for achieving both salvation and spiritual growth. Legalists believe in and demand a strict literal adherence to rules and regulations. Doctrinally, it is a position essentially opposed to grace. Those who hold a legalistic position often fail to see the real purpose for law, especially the purpose of the Old Testament law of Moses, which is to be our “schoolmaster” or “tutor” to bring us to Christ (Galatians 3:24). • Even true believers can be legalistic. We are instructed, rather, to be gracious to one another: “Accept him whose faith is weak, without passing judgment on disputable matters” (Romans 14:1). Sadly, there are those who feel so strongly about non-essential doctrines that they will run others out of their fellowship, not even allowing the expression of another viewpoint. That, too, is legalism. Many legalistic believers today make the error of demanding unqualified adherence to their own biblical interpretations and even to their own traditions. For example, there are those who feel that to be spiritual one must simply avoid tobacco, alcoholic beverages, dancing, movies, etc. The truth is that avoiding these things is no guarantee of spirituality. • The apostle Paul warns us of legalism in Colossians 2:20-23: “Since you died with Christ to the basic principles of this world, why, as though you still belonged to it, do you submit to its rules: ‘Do not handle! Do not taste! Do not touch!’? These are all destined to perish with use, because they are based on human commands and teachings. Such regulations indeed have an appearance of wisdom, with their self-imposed worship, their false humility and their harsh treatment of the body, but they lack any value in restraining sensual indulgence.” Legalists may appear to be righteous and spiritual, but legalism ultimately fails to accomplish God’s purposes because it is an outward performance instead of an inward change. • To avoid falling into the trap of legalism, we can start by holding fast to the words of the apostle John, “For the law was given through Moses; grace and truth came through Jesus Christ” (John 1:17) and remembering to be gracious, especially to our brothers and sisters in Christ. “Who are you to judge someone else's servant? To his own master he stands or falls. And he will stand, for the Lord is able to make him stand” (Romans 14:4). “You, then, why do you judge your brother? Or why do you look down on your brother? For we will all stand before God's judgment seat” (Romans 14:10). 69

Chapman | June 2, 2015 | 1:34 PM EDT Dr. Paul R. McHugh. (Photo: Johns Hopkins Medicine) (CNSNews.com) -- Dr. Paul R. McHugh, the former psychiatrist-in-chief for Johns Hopkins Hospital and its current Distinguished Service Professor of Psychiatry, said that transgenderism is a “mental disorder” that merits treatment, that sex change is “biologically impossible,” and that people who promote sexual reassignment surgery are collaborating with and promoting a mental disorder. Dr. McHugh, the author of six books and at least 125 peer-reviewed medical articles, made his remarks in a recent commentary in the Wall Street Journal, where he explained that transgender surgery is not the solution for people who suffer a “disorder of ‘assumption’” – the notion that their maleness or femaleness is different than what nature assigned to them biologically. He also reported on a new study showing that the suicide rate among transgendered people who had reassignment surgery is 20 times higher than the suicide rate among non-transgender people. Dr. McHugh further noted studies from Vanderbilt University and London’s Portman Clinic of children who had expressed transgender feelings but for whom, over time, 70%-80% “spontaneously lost those feelings.” While the Obama administration, Hollywood, and major media such as Time magazine promote transgenderism as normal, said Dr. McHugh, these “policy makers and the media are doing no favors either to the public or the transgendered by treating their confusions as a right in need of defending rather than as a mental disorder that deserves understanding, treatment and prevention.” Time magazine, June 9, 2014, cover story, The Transgender Tipping Point: America's Next Civil Rights Frontier. (Photo: AP) “This intensely felt sense of being transgendered constitutes a mental disorder in two respects. The first is that the idea of sex misalignment is simply mistaken – it does not correspond with physical reality. The second is that it can lead to grim psychological outcomes.” The transgendered person’s disorder, said Dr. McHugh, is in the person’s “assumption” that they are different than the physical reality of their body, their maleness or femaleness, as assigned by nature. It is a disorder similar to a “dangerously thin” person suffering anorexia who looks in the mirror and thinks they are “overweight,” said McHugh. This assumption, that one’s gender is only in the mind regardless of anatomical reality, has led some transgendered people to push for social acceptance and affirmation of their own subjective “personal truth,” said Dr. McHugh. As a result, some states – California, New Jersey, and Massachusetts – have passed laws barring psychiatrists, “even with parental permission, from striving to restore natural gender feelings to a transgender minor,” he said. The pro-transgender advocates do not want to know, said McHugh, that studies show between 70% and 80% of children who express transgender feelings “spontaneously lose those feelings” over time. Also, for those who had sexual reassignment surgery, most said they were “satisfied” with the operation “but their subsequent psycho-social adjustments were no better than those who didn’t have the surgery.” Pro-transgender activists. The Obama administration announced in May that Medicare will now cover transgender surgical procedures. (AP) “And so at Hopkins we stopped doing sex-reassignment surgery, since producing a ‘satisfied’ but still troubled patient seemed an inadequate reason for surgically amputating normal organs,” said Dr. McHugh. The former Johns Hopkins chief of psychiatry also warned against enabling or encouraging certain subgroups of the transgendered, such as young people “susceptible to suggestion from ‘everything is normal’ sex education,” and the schools’ “diversity counselors” who, like “cult leaders,” may “encourage these young people to distance themselves from their families and offer advice on rebutting arguments against having transgender surgery.” Dr. McHugh also reported that there are “misguided doctors” who, working with very young children who seem to imitate the opposite sex, will administer “puberty-delaying hormones to render later sex-change surgeries less onerous – even though the drugs stunt the children’s growth and risk causing sterility.” Such action comes “close to child abuse,” said Dr. McHugh, given that close to 80% of those kids will “abandon their confusion and grow naturally into adult life if untreated ….” “’Sex change’ is biologically impossible,” said McHugh. “People who undergo sex-reassignment surgery do not change from men to women or vice versa. Rather, they become feminized men or masculinized women. Claiming that this is civil-rights matter and encouraging surgical intervention is in reality to collaborate with and promote a mental disorder.”

  24. http://www.gotquestions.org/transsexualism-gender-identity-disorder.html 1 Corinthians 6:11, Deuteronomy 22:5, What does the Bible say about transsexualism / transgenderism? Is gender identity disorder / gender dysphoria the result of sin?” transvestites Question: "What does the Bible say about transsexualism / transgenderism? Is gender identity disorder / gender dysphoria the result of sin?" Answer: Transsexualism, also known as transgenderism, Gender Identity Disorder (GID), or gender dysphoria, is a desire to change one’s sex or to fulfill the role of the opposite gender. Transsexuals / transgenders usually describe themselves as “trapped” in a body that does not match their gender. They will probably practice transvestism / transvestitism and may also seek hormone therapy and/or surgery to bring their bodies into conformity with their perceived gender. The Bible has plenty to say about human sexuality. Most basic to our understanding of sex is that God created two (and only two) genders: “male and female He created them” (Genesis 1:27). All the modern-day speculation about numerous genders—or even a gender “continuum” with unlimited genders—is unbiblical. In Psalm 139, we learn that God fashions each one of us. His wonderful work leaves no room for mistakes; no one is born with the “wrong body.” After the fall of man, it did not take long for gender issues to become confused. In the Law, transvestism / transvestitism was specifically forbidden: “A woman must not wear men’s clothing, nor a man wear women’s clothing, for the Lord your God detests anyone who does this” (Deuteronomy 22:5). Another possible reference to transsexualism is 1 Corinthians 6:9, where “male prostitutes” is listed as a separate category from “homosexual offenders.” The King James Version uses the word “effeminate” here; that is to say, the “male prostitutes” might be transsexual men who act as women. No matter if the gender distortion has a genetic, hormonal, physiological, or psychological cause, the Bible clearly and consistently labels any sexual activity outside of marriage or not between a man and a woman as sin, rebellion against God’s plan. But following this realization is good news: sin can be forgiven and lives can be changed through faith in Christ. The Corinthian believers are an example of such a change: “And [homosexuals] is what some of you were. But you were washed, you were sanctified, you were justified in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ and by the Spirit of our God” (1 Corinthians 6:11). There is hope for any sinner, transsexuals, transgenders, and transvestites included, because of God’s forgiveness available in Jesus Christ.
