1. Chapter 1
Arjunavisada yoga, Verses: 46
The army of Pandavas and Kauravas are standing in
the battlefield - Kurukshetra. The war is going to be
begin in a moment. But suddenly Arjuna have
realization that the war is not worthy to fight. He
does not want to kill all his loved one for the sake
of kingdom
2. Chapter 2
Sankhya yoga, Verses: 72
Arjuna asked for help to Krishna. Seeing
Arjuna in distress – Krishna explains him
different Hindu philosophies to do his duty.
This chapter contains the essence of the
Gita.
3. Chapter 3
Karma yoga, Verses: 43
In this chapter, Krishna explains Arjuna, the
way of doing one’s work. So that one can be
liberated from his karma and finally can attend
supreme. Performing one’s duty without
attachment to the result of his work is the
right way to follow.
4. Chapter 4
Gyaana Karma Sanyasa yoga, Verses: 42
Krishna explains the origin of the
‘knowledge of Gita’ and how it gets
transferred from one age to another. He
also explains the importance of Guru or
Teacher.
5. Chapter 5
Karma Sanyasa yoga, Verses: 29
Arjuna asks Krishna, which is the best way
to attend moksha – Karma yoga or Sanyasa
yoga. In the reply, Krishna explains why
doing one’s duty without any attachment is
the best way to attend moksha.
6. Chapter 6
Dhyan yoga, Verses: 47
Krishna describes about the Astanga yoga.
He explains, how one person can control
his mind through Dhyana.
7. Chapter 7
Gyaana ViGyaana yoga, Verses: 30
The knowledge of absolute reality and
Maya is described in this chapter
8. Chapter 8
Aksara Brahma yoga, Verses: 28
This chapter describes about the brahman
and the difference between right and
wrong.
9. Chapter 9
Raja Vidya Raja Guhya yoga, Verses: 34
In this chapter Krishna describes, how he is
responsible for creating, preserving and
destroying the whole universe.
10. Chapter 10
Vibhuti Vistara yoga, Verses: 42
In this chapter, Krishna sings the glories of
lord and how this knowledge can help
devotees.
11. Chapter 11
Visvarupa Darsana yoga, Verses: 55
In this chapter, Krishna displays his
Visvarupa. Arjuna and Sanjaya’s description
about the Universal form of Lord Krishna
12. Chapter 12
Bhakti yoga, Verses: 20
On Arjuna’s request, Krishna describes
about the bhakti yoga or how devotion can
help a person to reach moksha. He also
explains the different stages of Bhakti.
13. Chapter 13
Ksetra Ksetrajna Vibhaga yoga, Verses: 35
In this chapter, Krishna helps arjuna to
differentiate between the physical body
and soul. He also helps to differentiate
between consciousness and universal
consciousness.
14. Chapter 14
Gunatraya Vibhaga yoga, Verses: 27
Krishna describes about three gunas and
their characteristics. How these gunas
affect individuals and the knowledge to
transcend these gunas.

Daivasura Sampad Vibhaga yoga, Verses:

In this chapter, Krishna describes the traits
of Devas and Asuras. How one should give
up greed, anger, and desires to progress in
spiritual path.
17. Chapter 17
Sraddhatraya Vibhaga yoga, Verses: 28
Krishna describes about three types of
Sraddha. How these affects people’s faith
and behavior.
18. Chapter 18
Moksha Sanyasa yoga, Verses: 78
This is the conclusory chapter. Krishna ask
Arjuna to completely surrender to him and
informs him it as the ultimate perfection of
life.
