It borders Germany, Czech Republic, Slovakia, Ukraine, Belarus, Lithuania and Kaliningrad Oblast, the Russian exclave. It has access to The Baltic S ea. Poland has a population of over 38 million people. It is a member of the European Union and NATO. The longest river is The Vistula at 1047 km in length. Major cities and towns along The Vistula River are: Cracow, Warsaw, Torun, Gdansk. Warsaw is the capital and the largest city of Poland. It’s recovered from extensive damage of World War II during which 80% of its buildings were destroyed. It was rebuilt with the effort of many Polish citizens. Cracow is the second largest and one of the oldest cities in Poland. Its historic center was inscribed on the list of World Heritage Sites as the one of its kind. Cracow has traditionally been one of the leading centers of Polish academic, cultural and artistic life and is one of Poland's most important economic ones .
