• ‘Imagine you are … What would you do?’
• Why do you think …?’

Ask at least one question to each student.
Act as a discussion guide.
Control the time for the whole discussion:
30 minutes.
SUMMARIZER
AT HOME:
• Read the story.
• Find the key points to understand and
remember it.
• Prepare a short summary to talk to the group.
IN CLASS:

• Retell the story in a short summary (1
or 2 minutes) in your own words.
• Don’t read your summary to the group.
WORD MASTER
AT HOME:
• Look for 5 words or short phrases that are
important in the story.

IMPORTANT POINT:
You don’t have to choose unknown words.
IN CLASS:
• Tell the group why the words are important to
understand the story.
• Use simple English in your explanation.
PASSAGE PERSON

AT HOME:
• Read the story and find at least 3 important or
interesting passages.

IMPORTANT POINTS
• The passages don’t have to be passages
containing main events in the story. They
could be interesting descriptions of the
characters, or parts that have interesting or
powerful language.
• A passage can be a paragraph, or one or two
sentences.
PASSAGE PERSON
IN CLASS:

Tell the group why you have chosen the
passages.
Ask the group if they have found any
passages especially difficult.
If there are difficult passages, ask the
group to try to explain them.
