10. Fertilisation One egg is released from the ovary every month. Semen is released from the penis into the vagina. Semen has millions of sperm in it. Sperm have tails and swim from the vagina through the uterus up to the oviduct. The egg and sperm join up in the oviduct. This is called FERTILISAT . Only one sperm is required to fertilise an egg.
