Male and Female reproductive organs 1P9: Tuesday 7 th December
Male Reproductive Organs Testes Sperm Duct Urethra Penis Prostate
Testes Sperm Duct Prostate Urethra Penis To produce and release the male sex cell (sperm) To carry the sperm to the penis Adds fluid and food to the sperm so they can swim Carries the sperm out of the body Used to transfer the sperm inside of the female Function Organ
A Single Sperm Males produce up to 100 million of these each time These are much smaller than the egg
Female Reproductive Organs Vagina Oviduct Ovary Uterus Cervix Ovum Fertilisation takes place here
Ovary Oviduct Uterus Cervix Vagina To produce and release the female sex cell (egg) To carry the egg to the uterus To accept the fertilised egg and help it to grow and develop into a baby The neck of the uterus where sperm are released and through which the baby leaves its mother Long narrow tube that connects the uterus to the outside of the body. Function Organ
A Single Egg This is about the size Of a grain of sand

Fertilisation Meet in oviduct Sperm enters the egg The male and female nuclei join together - FERTILISATION Egg Sperm Nucleus Fertilised Egg (Zygote)
Fertilisation One egg is released from the ovary every month. Semen is released from the penis into the vagina. Semen has millions of sperm in it. Sperm have tails and swim from the vagina through the uterus up to the oviduct. The egg and sperm join up in the oviduct. This is called FERTILISAT . Only one sperm is required to fertilise an egg. A fertilised egg travels down the oviduct to the uterus where it grows into a baby. OVARY PENIS FERTILISATION ONE OVIDUCT
