MS-PowerPoint- Introduction (2)
• Microsoft PowerPoint is a presentation program created by Robert Gaskins
and Dennis Austin at a software company named Forethought, Inc.
• It was released on April 20, 1987, initially for Macintosh computers only.
• Microsoft acquired PowerPoint for $14 million three months after it
appeared.
• Microsoft PowerPoint is one of many programs run by the company
Microsoft and can be identified by its trademark orange, and P initial on
the logo.
• It offers users many ways to display information from simple presentations
to complex multimedia presentations.
• PowerPoint became a component of the Microsoft Office suite, first offered
in 1989 for Macintosh and in 1990 for Windows, which bundled several
Microsoft apps.
• Beginning with PowerPoint 4.0 (1994), PowerPoint was integrated into
Microsoft Office development, and adopted shared common components
and a converged user interface.
Features of MS-PowerPoint
• Available for multiple platforms like Windows, iOS,
Android and Mac
• Presentation can be shared or shown online in the
real-time by sending the URL of the presentation
to the user connected to the internet.
• Following features can be added to the
presentation:
• Custom animation
• Photos, Videos and Sound Effects
• Hyperlinks
• Embed YouTube videos
• Slides can be printed in different ways
Introduction to Slides
• A slide is a single page of a PowerPoint

with .ppt/.pptx extension.
Speaker Notes
• The speaker notes or notes pages are a
reserved space for each slide in your
presentation that is intended to be used by
the presenter for many different purpose.
• The presenter can add some key points that he
want to cover during a Power Point
presentation or meeting, and don’t want to
miss.
Speaker Notes (Continued)
• Speaker notes are notes added to PowerPoint
presentation slides as a reference for the
presenter.
• Speaker Notes in a PowerPoint slide are hidden
during the presentation and only visible to the
one presenting the slides.

the slides. The video clip may be an online video or
an offline one.
Sample Video (click to play)
