The eagle has the longest lifespan of its species but must make a difficult decision as it ages. When around 40 years old, its talons and beak become too weak for hunting. It then has two options - die or go through a 150 day process of renewal. The eagle flies to a mountain top, knocks its beak against a rock to remove it, then waits for a new beak to grow before removing its talons. Once new talons grow back, it plucks out its old feathers. After five months, the eagle emerges reborn and lives for another 30 years.
