  1. 1. Tips on using my ppt. 1. You can freely download, edit, modify and put your name etc. 2. Don’t be concerned about number of slides. Half the slides are blanks except for the title. 3. First show the blank slides (eg. Aetiology ) > Ask students what they already know about ethology of today's topic. > Then show next slide which enumerates aetiologies. 4. At the end rerun the show – show blank> ask questions > show next slide. 5. This will be an ACTIVE LEARNING SESSION x three revisions. 6. Good for self study also. 7. See notes for bibliography.
  2. 2. Title
  3. 3. Title • Comparision of routes of administation of Tramadol : Intramuscular and intravenous infusion. -Dr. Pradeep Pande Assistant Professor Deptt. Of Surgery
  4. 4. Abstract
  5. 5. Abstract Background and Objectives • The objective is to compare the outcome of a poster on antibiotics prescribing practice of Residents
  6. 6. Introduction
  7. 7. Introduction Antibiotics are indicated in cases of bacterial infections but in today’s practice antibiotics are used indiscriminately in every prescription thus great chance of developing resistance against these antibiotics in coming days. Soon we will be left with no antibiotics which will be effective against these organisms. So there is a need to restrict the use of antibiotics specially in those cases where there is absolutely no indication of using them.
  8. 8. Introduction We propose a poster urging residents to stop and think once more before prescribing antibiotics if pasted on the walls of each opd chamber , the residents will reduce unnecessary prescriptions of antibiotics.
  9. 9. Stop
  10. 10. Stop Do you need to prescribe antibiotics to this patient??????
  11. 11. Conclusions:
  12. 12. Conclusions: • The trial will provide level 1b evidence to support the effectiveness of a poster in stopping/reducing the injudicious use of antibiotics..
  13. 13. Materials and Methods
  14. 14. Materials and Methods Trial Design • This trial has been designed as a prospective, double-blind, randomized controlled trial, in which the antibiotic prescribed cases will be compared before and after a poster pasting in opds.
  15. 15. Materials and Methods • We shall count the number of prescriptions containing antibiotics. • Then we shall paste on the walls of each opd chamber a poster urging residents to stop and think once more before prescribing antibiotics. • We shall count the number of prescriptions containing antibiotics after one day, one week and one month after poster application.
  16. 16. Materials and Methods • Materials and Methods- 1000 patients reporting to the OPD of BRK Memorial Medical College Jagdalpur will be included in this study.
  17. 17. Materials and Methods • Primary endpoint will be decreased prescriptions of antibiotics,
  18. 18. Materials and Methods • Conclusions:
  19. 19. Participants
  20. 20. Participants • Participants: Patients coming to OPD of BRK Memorial Medical College Jagdalpur will be included in this study in the month of January and February 2017 •
  21. 21. Inclusion criteria:
  22. 22. Inclusion criteria: • 1000 patients reporting to the OPD of BRK Memorial Medical College Jagdalpur will be included in this study. •
  23. 23. Exclusion criteria
  24. 24. Exclusion criteria • None
  25. 25. Results: Outcome parameters
  26. 26. Results: Outcome parameters • Prescriptions will be followed up for 1 year.
  27. 27. Primary outcome
  28. 28. Primary outcome • Primary outcome will be reduction in the incidence prescribing antibiotics.
  29. 29. Secondary Outcome
  30. 30. Secondary Outcome • Less incidence of antibiotic resistance • Quality of life • Cost effectiveness •
  31. 31. Analysis
  32. 32. Analysis • Differences between randomized groups will be tested with appropriate statistical methods
  33. 33. Conclusion
  34. 34. Conclusion • This trial is a randomized trial comparing the effectiveness of a poster on prescribing behavior of residents.
