Content marketing challenges every business should overcome
1. Content Marketing Challenges Every Business Should Overcome
by Gary Messinger
Do you know what happens if you decide to forgo content marketing? You’ll lose
business to your competition! And we have numbers to prove our point. Consider these
figures:
• People watch two billion videos on YouTube everyday
• There are over one billion active users on Facebook
• Tweets reach 50 million per day
• Every day, 200 million blogs are read on WordPress
• Companies that post regularly on their blogs get 55 percent more website traffic
and 126 percent higher lead than those who don’t blog
• Over 90 percent of B2B marketers incorporate content marketing into their
overall marketing plan
Needless to say, content marketing is a valuable way of building business brand,
spreading word about products and services, and increasing number of customers. So if
you’re a business owner, wouldn’t you want to take advantage of the power of content
marketing?
The only problem is, there are hurdles hindering you from doing so. But do not fear.
These common challenges that business owners complain about can be resolved.
No time
All business owners are busy. Running a business takes a lot of time out of your hands,
that’s a fact we know all too well. But how come others can manage to go into content
marketing, and you can’t? That’s a mindset you need to change. Look at content
marketing as a necessity and not as an optional aspect of your business. This way, you’d
surely change your mind about how you don’t have any time for it.
Do remember that creating content isn’t that hard or time-consuming. Re-post engaging
content from another blog (be sure to credit appropriately) and that only takes one
minute. Record a video of an event in your company and post it on your blog and that
takes only 15 minutes. Write a short how-to article about a topic that you an expert on (be
sure it’s relevant to your business) and that takes only 20 minutes or less.
Lack of experience
You’re good in what you do but you’re not an expert when it comes to creating content.
Don’t worry too much about it. Professional writing skills are not necessary. Knowledge
and passion are. And you can always hire someone to do the writing for you if you’re
really not comfortable about it. Now, if you want to harness your blogging skills, read a
lot of blogs, see what the usual tone is used, and research on topics most commonly
written about. Lack of experience is never a valid excuse for missing out on the

Not going viral
Finally, you’re able to produce excellent content. The only problem left is that it’s not
going viral. It seems like nobody cares about what you’re saying. That’s not true. You’re
probably not doing what you need to do to spread word about your content. The trick is to
use social media to market your content—post links to all your social media sites, tweet
about your latest blog post, and share it with your Facebook buddies.
Don’t let these obstacles stop you from reaping the benefits of content marketing.
