Attitude in the Workplace

DepEd Calamba City Division’s Quality Policy
Article VI:
The Teacher and Higher Authorities in the Profession
Section 1: …make an honest effort to understand and
support the legitimate policies of the school and the
administration regardless of personal feeling or private
opinion and shall faithfully carry them out.
DepEd Calamba City Division’s Quality Policy
Section 2. …shall not make any false accusations or
charges against superiors, especially under anonymity.
However, if there are valid charges, he should present
such under oath to competent authority.
Section 3. …transact all official business through channels
except when special conditions warrant a different
procedure..
DepEd Calamba City Division’s Quality Policy
Section 4. …has a right to seek redress against injustice to
the administration and …shall raise grievances within
acceptable democratic processes. …shall avoid
jeopardizing the interest and the welfare of learners
whose right to learn must be respected.

Section 5. …right to invoke the principle that
appointments, promotions, and transfer of teachers are
made only on the basis of merit and needed in the
interest of the service.
Section 6. A teacher who accepts a position assumes a
contractual obligation to live up to his contract, assuming
full knowledge of employment terms and conditions.
Objectives:
Foster positive attitude among colleagues
Inculcate camaraderie and good relationship with others
through prudence in the workplace, happy disposition, and
encouraging manners.
Display points on how to constantly show positive attitude
through answering the given situations.
Terminal Objectives:
Manifest positive attitude in the workplace
through daily application of the various points on
how to be happy amidst difficult situations and
deal with workmates with prudence and respect.

How do you find the activity?
What can you say about being Enthusiastic?
To be enthusiastic at work is about a mental state.
You need to make the decision to be enthusiastic.
Start by saying, “I will be an eager participant in
this project or task.”
Being enthusiastic and energetic are attitudes in
the workplace that can get you ahead. You cannot
get ahead without energy.
Efficient?
to be efficient means “performing or
functioning effectively with the least waste of time
and effort.” When you are effective, you are
producing the intended result. When you are
efficient you do it with the least waste of time and
effort. That means you are capable and
competent.
Excellence?
• Of the five attitudes in the workplace, this one
probably calls for you to give yourself some
pressure. A little pressure is good since it makes
you push yourself harder. Strive for excellence in
everything you do. Do not be contented with
good. Go for great.
• Exceed expectations by knowing good is
sometimes not good enough. Give everything
your utmost best. You will naturally see how this
becomes your career booster. When you strive
for excellence in everything you do, you quite
naturally surpass others in your work. That gets
you ahead.
Respect?
Respect is an attitude that develops through
mature and mutually enriching interpersonal
relationships. Moreover, respect is the attitude of
accepting others’ differences; you need respect in
order to coexist with others without conflict.
To respect someone is to put aside our differences.
It helps us avoid judging others for their individual
choices and opinions. To respect someone is to be
aware of a person’s individuality, and not to
demand that they change their opinions or
behaviors. Respectful people realize that everyone
has the right to choose to be who they really are.
You show respect when you do not judge someone
for their lifestyle or the way they approach a
situation, make decisions, or behave. You further
show respect for someone when you do not
complain about the way they are, or expect them
to be any other way.
Respect is the best way to show others that
we accept them in all of their individuality the way
they are and not otherwise.
Disposition?
We all have genetic predispositions that determine
our state of happiness, which is why some of us are
happier than others, but however good we are at
adapting to our circumstances, it’s our
circumstances that dictate how we feel about what
we deal with and that determines how happy we
are.
We’re all born with genetic predispositions of
course, but circumstances, our family and
environmental considerations also play their part in
determining a general state of happiness. There are
people who have happy dispositions and it’s those
dispositions that allow them to live their lives,
differently to the rest of us.

Have you been HONEST to your self?
What are the benefits of having a positive
attitude in the workplace?
• Increase constructive thinking, produces more
energy to do things, accomplish goals and attain
success.
• Redouble positive thinking, increase your faith in
your abilities, inspire and motivate yourself and
others.
• Growth creative thinking, your encounter fewer
obstacles and difficulties however more hope
and more happiness will be into your daily life.
• Optimism and you get more respect and love
from people.
Having a positive attitude in the workplace can help
with potential promotions. Employers promote
employees who not only produce, but also motivate
others in the workplace
Finally…
Mechanics:
Group the participants into 6.
Let them pick the situations written in
the metacards within 2 minutes.
Reporting Group 1
What will you do if somebody in your group
fail to show eagerness to accomplish a certain
task of the department? How will you help
him/her? What motivation can you suggest to
make him/her do the task with enthusiasm?
Reporting Group 2
Someone from the group is always late in
reporting to work. He/she comes without even
asking the update of the team…doesn’t submit
paper works on time and on right phase…What
can you suggest to make this person work
effectively and efficiently?
Reporting Group 3
Your leader has been speaking about a certain school
project…but your group mate is busy from selling his
own story to another person…he was signaled to
refrain from speaking when somebody is talking in
front but he doesn’t mind. How can this be stopped? Is
it right to stop him or shall you wait for him to stop?
What can you give as assistance to this person?
Reporting Group 4
When you have a co-worker who excellently do
this job but he/she doesn’t mind stepping on
somebody else’s life just to pursue his goal. What
can you suggest for him to know this?
Reporting Group 5
What will you do if one of your colleague does not
work on time, on right track and on correct task?
What will you suggest to make his work good?
Reporting Group 6
How will a person know that he is not happy with
this work and life? Will his negative vibe influence
others?
