2. This 64 year old male patient presented on referral from his
general dentist with a poor restorative prognosis for a severely worn
remaining dentition.
This case illustrates an example of a “Teeth-in-a-Day” restoration. In
this case a treatment plan with 6 parallel implants was chosen over
an “All-on-4” approach, which would have required tilted posterior implants.
The distribution of implants allowed for a favorable A:P spread without
the need for tilted posterior fixtures. Better prosthetic support could be
accomplished with 6 implants.
Prior to implant placement, vertical dimension of occlusion was restored
via immediate dentures.
Implants were not placed in a large osseous defect just to the left of the
mandibular midline which would have required bone grafting to correct.
