1 Kings 8:26 And now, O God of Israel, let Thy Word, I
pray thee, be verified, which Thou spakest unto
Thy servant David my father.
Solomon is calling on God to continue to fulfill
His Promises that He made to David.
It’s okay to bring Promises made that we have
not yet seen fulfilled before our Lord.
3. 3
1 Kings 8:27 But will God indeed dwell on the earth?
behold, the heaven and heaven of heavens cannot
contain Thee; how much less this house that I have
builded?
God is everywhere all the time.
4. 4
Psalm 139 7 Whither shall I go from Thy Spirit? or
whither shall I flee from Thy Presence? 8 If I
ascend up into Heaven, Thou art there: if I make
my bed in hell, behold, Thou art there. 9 If I take
the wings of the morning, and dwell in the utter-
most parts of the sea; 10 Even there shall Thy Hand
lead me, and Thy Right Hand shall hold me.
No matter how difficult the place, our God is
always present to walk with us.
5. 5
11 If I say, Surely the darkness shall cover me; even
the night shall be light about me. 12 Yea, the
darkness hideth not from Thee; but the night
shineth as the day: the darkness and the light are
both alike to Thee.
There’s an all-seeing eye
watching you.
You can run, but you can’t hide.

[Text] 28 Yet have Thou respect unto the prayer of
Thy servant, and to his supplication, O LORD my
God, to hearken unto the cry and to the prayer,
which Thy servant prayeth before Thee today: 29
That Thine eyes may be open toward this house
night and day, even toward the place of which
Thou hast said, My Name shall be there: that thou
mayest hearken unto the prayer which Thy servant
shall make toward this place.
7. 7
We want God to hear and answer our prayers.
1 John 5 14 And this is the confidence that we have
in Him, that, if we ask anything according to His
Will, He heareth us: 15 And if we know that He
hear us, whatsoever we ask, we know that we have
the petitions that we desired of Him.
When we are in God’s Will, and the prayer
we pray is according to His Will,
We know that God will hear and
answer our prayer.
8. 8
[Text] 30 And hearken Thou to the supplication of
Thy servant, and of Thy people Israel, when they
shall pray toward this place: and hear Thou in
Heaven Thy dwelling place: and when Thou
hearest, forgive.
1 John 1 9 If we confess our sins, He is
faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to
cleanse us from all unrighteousness.
9. 9
31 If any man trespass against his neighbor, and an
oath be laid upon him to cause him to swear, and
the oath come before Thine altar in this house:
32 Then hear Thou in Heaven, and do, and judge thy
servants, condemning the wicked, to bring his way
upon his head; and justifying the righteous, to give
him according to his righteousness.
Amen!
This is God’s Will; we know that
He will hear and answer.
10. 10
33 When Thy people Israel be smitten down before
the enemy, because they have sinned against Thee,
and shall turn again to Thee, and confess Thy
Name, and pray, and make supplication unto Thee
in this house: 34 Then hear Thou in Heaven, and
forgive the sin of thy people Israel, and bring them
again unto the land which thou gavest unto their
fathers.
If we are being defeated by the devil,
sin is to blame.
11. 11
Admit that you are in the wrong,
and confess your sin as sin.
Ask God to forgive you.
Turn!
12. 12
It may be sins of commission:
Lying, cheating, stealing, drugging,
drinking, fornication, or others
It may be sins of omission:
Neglecting prayer, neglecting Bible study,
neglecting church and worship
It’s all sin from which we
need to repent.
13. 13
35 When heaven is shut up, and there is no rain,
because they have sinned against thee; if they pray
toward this place, and confess Thy Name, and turn
from their sin, when Thou afflictest them: 36 Then
hear Thou in Heaven, and forgive the sin of thy
servants, and of thy people Israel, that Thou teach
them the good way wherein they should walk, and
give rain upon Thy land, which thou hast given to
Thy people for an inheritance.
If your living dries up,
Search your heart.
14. 14
37 If there be in the land famine, if there be
pestilence, blasting, mildew, locust, or if there be
caterpiller; if their enemy besiege them in the land
of their cities; whatsoever plague, whatsoever
sickness there be; 38 What prayer and supplication
soever be made by any man, or by all thy people
Israel, which shall know every man the plague of
his own heart, and spread forth his hands toward
this house:
When troubles abound on every hand, pray
and search your heart, turn from any sin.
15. 15
39 Then hear Thou in Heaven Thy dwelling place,
and forgive, and do, and give to every man
according to his ways, whose heart Thou knowest;
(for Thou, even Thou only, knowest the hearts of
all the children of men;) 40 That they may fear Thee
all the days that they live in the land which Thou
gavest unto our fathers.
When we confess our sins and turn from them,
God will always forgive us and bless us.
16. 16
James 4 1 From whence come wars and fightings
among you? come they not hence, even of your
lusts that war in your members? 2 Ye lust, and have
not: ye kill, and desire to have, and cannot obtain:
ye fight and war, yet ye have not, because ye ask
not. 3 Ye ask, and receive not, because ye ask
amiss, that ye may consume it upon your lusts.
We need to be certain we are asking
for a good thing for a good reason.
And yes, we must humble ourselves and ask!
17. 17
1 Peter 3 7 Likewise, ye husbands, dwell with (your
wife) according to knowledge, giving honor unto
the wife, as unto the weaker vessel, and as being
heirs together of the grace of life;
that your prayers be not hindered.
Your relationship with your mate is
important to your prayer life.
We can’t be close to God when we are fighting and
scratching, fussing and cussing with our mate.
Your family life matters!
18. 18
Prayer should always include worship.
By definition, worship is a part of prayer, and
then secondarily supplication.
1 Kings 8 28 Yet have Thou respect unto the prayer
of thy servant, and to his supplication, O LORD
my God, to hearken unto the cry and to the prayer,
which Thy servant prayeth before Thee today:
19. 19
Psalm 150 1 Praise ye the LORD. Praise God in His
sanctuary: praise Him in the firmament of His
Power. 2 Praise Him for His mighty acts: praise
Him according to His excellent greatness. … 6 Let
everything that hath breath praise the LORD.
Praise ye the LORD.
20. 20
Psalm 100 1 Make a joyful noise unto the LORD,
all ye lands. 2 Serve the LORD with gladness:
come before His Presence with singing. 3 Know ye
that the LORD He is God: it is He that hath made
us, and not we ourselves; we are His people, and
the sheep of His pasture. 4 Enter into His gates with
thanksgiving, and into His courts with praise: be
thankful unto Him, and bless His Name. 5 For the
LORD is good; His mercy is everlasting; and His
Truth endureth to all generations.
21. 21
Draw nigh to God.
Cleanse your hands and purify your heart.
