9. Did you know… Much of what we understand about EI is based on brain research conducted in the last 10 years. We have doubled our knowledge about how the brain functions in the last 10 years.
10. Did you know… IQ is not the same as EQ. IQ, an intelligence quotient, uses tests to measure activity in the cerebral cortex. EQ, an emotional quotient, uses tests to measure activity between the amygdala and the cerebral cortex.
11. Did you know… In job success, EQ is much more important than IQ. EQ is a higher predictor of a successful work experience than IQ, technical expertise, age, gender, even direct work experience. 80% of effective leaders have high Emotional Intelligence.
15. Amygdala Hijacks AMYGDALA HIJACK = the physiological response to intense sensory stimuli triggered by the amygdala, impacting the prefrontal cortex. In less than 1 second, triggering the amygdala can increase the heart rate 55 beats/ minute. It also sets in motion neuro-chemical changes that enable us to respond to stressful stimuli
