Environmental Problems
Group 3
Why should we protect our
environment?
• Our environment is the world that we live in but it’s
also the nature that surrounds us, and that’s why we
should protect and preserve it for our future
generations so they can have a place to live.
What damage did humans do over the
last millennium?
• Humans affected and changed our nature severly by
placing factories, using combustion engines on
vehicles: cars, aircraft, trains and ships, cutting down
trees, trashing seas and oceans by using plastic and
they did many more bad things that pollute or
destroy our world we live in.
Major Polluters
• There are major polluters that create a big problem,
for example: Coal Furnaces that create smog in our
air that we breathe.
To counter this, we would need to change to, at
least, natural gas which produces heat but no smoke
or pollution.
Major Polluters
• We would also need to stop water pollution and
global warming, if we want to survive next 100-200
years. We can prevent global warming by switching
mostly to electricity and to not use sprays with
freons which destroy our ozone layer. By recycling
plastic and other materials we can get reusable
everyday objects, and also help clean our
environment.
What can we do to help our Planet?
• To help our environment we only need
encouaragement and good intentions, and we can
change a lot. Here are some examples on things we
can change:
• By switching from a fuel-powered car to Electrical
Vehicle (EV)
• By recycling
• By planting trees
• By volunteering in clean-up days
Government can also help
• We don’t have to do everything by ourselves;
government might also help us.
• We can change from coal factories to renewable energy :
- Wind turbines
- Hydro power plants
- Solar panels
and more power-creators that are 100% „green”
Solutions that can also work
• Besides renewable energy we could use Nuclear Power and
Natural gas, but they are not 100% safe and great like the
others:
• PROS: Nuclear energy is very profitable, creates much
electricity and power and also releases only little amount of
CO2.
- Natural Gas can be used to heat up houses and also
produces little pollution.
• CONS: Nuclear Energy is very unsafe, and is not easily trusted
by people, especially after 1986 Chernobyl Disaster and 2011
Fukushima Earth Quake (resulting in reactor meltdown and
releasing radiation)
We will eventually run out of Natural Gas, which makes up
another problem.
Nuclear Energy and why it is not
perfect
• Why we might want to use it:
Profitable and Clean
We are afraid of it:
Unsafe and Dangerous
We need to work fast
• Our Planet is changing rapidly, and we already can
feel it. Global temperature rises every year and so is
the water level because the ice is melting faster and
on larger scale. Large quantities of animals and
plants are dying out because of the problems we
created.
If we don’t do anything, in just few years the damage
will be catastrophic…
…but the solution is already there
Our best friends
• Trees are our best solution. By planting 1,2 BILLION
of them we can practically stop global warming, and
reduce CO2. Trees are great because each one of
them creates oxygen and „eats” carbon dioxide.
They also provide a giant home for many spiecies;
each tree can be like a big skyscraper for animals,
and imagine how many new homes can we create if
we plant a dozen of trees. They also change the
landscape because they add a lot of green.
We need to work together
• Thankfully some people had realised what threats we are
facing nowadays, so they created many new „green
organisations” and innovations that help us save our Planet
Earth.
Thank you for your attention!

Environmental problems group3

  • 2. Why should we protect our environment? • Our environment is the world that we live in but it’s also the nature that surrounds us, and that’s why we should protect and preserve it for our future generations so they can have a place to live.
  • 3. What damage did humans do over the last millennium? • Humans affected and changed our nature severly by placing factories, using combustion engines on vehicles: cars, aircraft, trains and ships, cutting down trees, trashing seas and oceans by using plastic and they did many more bad things that pollute or destroy our world we live in.
  • 4. Major Polluters • There are major polluters that create a big problem, for example: Coal Furnaces that create smog in our air that we breathe. To counter this, we would need to change to, at least, natural gas which produces heat but no smoke or pollution.
  • 5. Major Polluters • We would also need to stop water pollution and global warming, if we want to survive next 100-200 years. We can prevent global warming by switching mostly to electricity and to not use sprays with freons which destroy our ozone layer. By recycling plastic and other materials we can get reusable everyday objects, and also help clean our environment.
  • 6. What can we do to help our Planet? • To help our environment we only need encouaragement and good intentions, and we can change a lot. Here are some examples on things we can change: • By switching from a fuel-powered car to Electrical Vehicle (EV) • By recycling • By planting trees • By volunteering in clean-up days
  • 7. Government can also help • We don’t have to do everything by ourselves; government might also help us. • We can change from coal factories to renewable energy : - Wind turbines - Hydro power plants - Solar panels and more power-creators that are 100% „green”
  • 8. Solutions that can also work • Besides renewable energy we could use Nuclear Power and Natural gas, but they are not 100% safe and great like the others: • PROS: Nuclear energy is very profitable, creates much electricity and power and also releases only little amount of CO2. - Natural Gas can be used to heat up houses and also produces little pollution. • CONS: Nuclear Energy is very unsafe, and is not easily trusted by people, especially after 1986 Chernobyl Disaster and 2011 Fukushima Earth Quake (resulting in reactor meltdown and releasing radiation) We will eventually run out of Natural Gas, which makes up another problem.
  • 9. Nuclear Energy and why it is not perfect • Why we might want to use it: Profitable and Clean We are afraid of it: Unsafe and Dangerous
  • 10. We need to work fast • Our Planet is changing rapidly, and we already can feel it. Global temperature rises every year and so is the water level because the ice is melting faster and on larger scale. Large quantities of animals and plants are dying out because of the problems we created. If we don’t do anything, in just few years the damage will be catastrophic… …but the solution is already there
  • 11. Our best friends • Trees are our best solution. By planting 1,2 BILLION of them we can practically stop global warming, and reduce CO2. Trees are great because each one of them creates oxygen and „eats” carbon dioxide. They also provide a giant home for many spiecies; each tree can be like a big skyscraper for animals, and imagine how many new homes can we create if we plant a dozen of trees. They also change the landscape because they add a lot of green.
  • 12. We need to work together • Thankfully some people had realised what threats we are facing nowadays, so they created many new „green organisations” and innovations that help us save our Planet Earth.
