INHERITANCE!
David Shannon
A Young man, searching for advice, sat across from
an older gentleman. The older man began to question, "Would
you steal $50,000 dollars if no one would ever know and no
one would be hurt?" The young man thought for a moment
and replied, "If no one would know and no one would be hurt,
yes I would." The gentleman questioned again, "Would you
steal ten dollars?" The young man was offended and irately
said, "What do you think I am?" The gentleman calmly
replied, "young man, by the way you answered the first
question, I know what you are. Now I am simply establishing
your price!" The righteous man walks in his INTEGRITY; His
children are blessed after him (Proverbs 20:7).
Walk in Integrity! "Let us walk honestly (Romans
13:13). Integrity means completeness or wholeness or an
unimpaired condition of soundness. For men and women to be
such, involves a firm and solid stand on the Christian faith.
This causes us to deal honestly, unconditionally. In other
words, no matter what others have done to us or what the
majority does around us, we follow the faith that instructs,
"Repay no man evil for evil. Have regard for good things in
the sight of all men." (I Thessalonians 4:12). Not many will do
this. Most have a price on integrity. For some it is dollars, for
others it is revenge, and for others it is selfishness. But for
God's children integrity is a part of truth of which they have
bought and will not sell (Proverbs 23:23).
Leave an Inheritance! We can leave a valuable estate
to our children! Some work all their life building valuable
financial portfolios reflecting with great pride that their
children one day will reap the benefits. Solomon knew
financial success better than any of us, but he also knew that
the greater inheritance was leaving your children a family
name synonymous with integrity! "A good name is rather to
be chosen than great riches." (Proverbs 22:1) If you can't leave
wealth, nothing of eternal value is lost. But if you don't leave
integrity, all is lost! Leave your children something so
valuable that you would not sell it for any price - integrity!
“Train up a child in the way he should go: and when he
is old, he will not depart from it” (Proverbs 22:6).
