R-values for walls, roofs and ceilings shall be no less than:

    with cavities, 1.5.
b) For single skin normal weight masonry based wall construction
    without a cavity, 0.6.
c) For solid timber wall systems no less than 60 mm thick, 0.6.
d) For roof or ceilings of any construction, 1.5.

•Opaque doors are ignored in the Schedule Method.
 In the Calculation Method up to 3m2 are ignored,
 greater than 3m2 are treated as walls (Garages!)
 (H1/AS1-Tbl 1(6) & H1/AS1-Tbl 4(4))

•Attached dwellings can be assessed as one dwelling
 with no heat loss through joint walls. If assessed
 individually joint walls must meet R-value targets.

Replacements, Alterations & Additions

   o   “like for like”
   o   Timber framed SG windows may need replacements with IGU or tradeoffs!
   o   Rule of thumb: 2% of total area of thermal envelope and performance no less
       than 20% worse than original
   o   Allowance for air tightness!
• Alterations and Additions:
   o   Only consider the new building part
   o   30% rules for compliance method applied to addition only
   o   Existing building upgrade only required if it “performs less energy efficiently
       because of the addition or extension”=> upgrade to previous level
   o   Schedule and Calculation Methods “as if addition is an entire building”
   o   Modelling Method: include complete building, but keep R-values of existing part
       of the building
