1. How did you address/attract your audience
Our initial target audience was teens, as a group we felt like teenagers are more
interested in horrors than any other age group. We done a class survey and found
out that teens do like typical horror genre props and aspects, such as: blood,
weapons, and mystery murderers. So to attract the audience we had a mystery
death of Elliott with no indication who the killer was, we had an anonymous
wakening from Shaun at the beginning in which we hoped the target audience of
teens would like. After showing the opening sequence to a few friends they pointed
them bits out as being interesting and they quoted that the fact they didn’t really
know what the main cause was or how or why certain people where there added to
the whole horror genre and they enjoyed the idea of not knowing. The music we
used was quite eerie and definitely something you would here in a horror and as
teenagers enjoy horrors they would enjoy the music. It’s also very suspenseful
which makes the horror scarier which intrigues the audience more.
For Mise En Scene, we decided for Shaun’s
character he would look quite smart and working
class however realizing or primary target
audience was teenagers we came to a conclusion
to make him look more stylish yet still smart so
we gave him the typical white shirt with the top
button done, a trendy jacket instead of a blazer
and skinny black jeans which where the
substitute for black work trousers, also for shoes
he has on high black converse which also made
the overall look rather youthful and interesting.
Elliot’s costume was his own choice
and obviously him being a teenager
his clothes were suitable to attract
our target audience. He has on
brown jeans black high top trainers
and a puffer jacket on.
Because ethnicity is represented in our sequence we thought it could attract
ethnic minorities into watching our film. This would widen the audience overall
therefor increasing revenue streams.
