Night High School Scholarship Project
I. Project Scope
St. Dominic Academy Batch ’78 Alumni, Inc. (“SDA Batch ’78”) scholarship project shall be officially
known as the “SDA Batch ’78 Scholarship Grant”. This educational grant shall be awarded to deserving
secondary school freshmen selected by the Scholarship Committee through a competitive process.

The number of recipients, as well as the nature of the scholarship grant will be determined by the
Scholarship Committee on an annual basis. This scholarship project shall be managed by the
Scholarship Committee.
This scholarship grant will be different and separate from any other grants that may already be
existing or coming; and it shall be implemented within the scope of the Scholarship Agreement signed
between SDA Batch ’78 representatives and Student/Parent.
For the school year 2010‐11, SDA Batch ’78 shall award a 5‐Year Scholarship Grant to two (2) high
school
freshmen, one male & one female, at St. Dominic Academy (“SDA”) of Pulilan, Bulacan, under the
school’s Night High School Program.
II. Scholarship Committee
The scholarship project shall be managed by a Scholarship Committee consisting of a Chairman and
four alumni members of SDA Batch ’78. Membership in this committee shall be done by appointment
or volunteer selection as determined by SDA Batch ’78 alumni members. Tenure shall be for two years.
After the 2‐year term, it is the responsibility of the incumbent Scholarship Committee members to
turn over immediately and completely all project‐related documents, transactions, records, and
proceedings that occurred during the term of their position to the incoming new Scholarship
Committee members.
All decisions made by the Scholarship Committee shall be deemed final.
III. Funding and Coverage
The scholarship project shall be funded by SDA Batch ’78 through pledge donations from alumni
members and other donors. Funds collected specifically for this project shall not to be used for any
other purpose.

Continuity of the scholarship program and the number of scholars launched per school year will
depend on the availability of funds, results of the project, and donor’s participation. SDA Batch ’78
recognizes its commitment to the student and agrees that no scholar will be launched unless the full
five‐year costs are adequately funded.

Depending on what will be agreed upon by all donors and the Scholarship Committee, any remaining

funds at the end of the scholarship project shall be re‐allocated to other SDA Batch ’78 charitable
activities OR deposited to SDA Batch ’78 General Fund account OR refunded to all donors of this
scholarship project on a pro‐rated basis (based on calculated percentage of donations made by each
donor).
IV. Criteria for Selection of Candidates
Selection of candidates to qualify for the scholarship grant shall come from the new batch of freshmen
students officially admitted to St. Dominic Academy Night High School Program. The Scholarship
Committee shall coordinate with the school screening committee administering the Night High School
program to seek recommendation of the top 10 (5 males & 5 females) possible candidates for the
scholarship grant.
In addition, the following criteria shall also be used by the Scholarship Committee in order for the
candidates to be considered for the scholarship grant:
a) Candidates must be bona fide resident of Pulilan, Bulacan. Proof of residency is required
b) Candidates should have a grade point average (GPA) of 85 or above and should belong to
the top 20% of the primary school graduating class.
c) The scholarship being need‐based, the ideal candidate’s household income should not be
more than Php5,000 per month. However, the Scholarship Committee reserves the right
to waive this requirement upon determination of the actual family’s needs. Applicants
shall be required to submit proof of income.
V. Selection of Scholars and Awarding
To streamline the selection process, the Scholarship Committee shall coordinate and seek
recommendation of the top 10 (5 males & 5 females) possible candidates from the school screening
committee administering the Night High School Program. The Scholarship Committee shall request

any related documents resulting from the applicant’s official admission to the Night High School
Program.

Committee will judge the candidates based on a 10‐point rating in each of the following areas: Financial
Need, Character and Personality, and Academic Achievement.

Candidates and his/her parents or legal guardians will be interviewed by the Scholarship committee as
part of the selection process at which time details of the scholarship program shall be explained to the
applicant and his/her parents or legal guardians.

Candidates (1 male & 1 female) receiving the highest rating from the Scholarship Committee will be
granted the scholarship awards. In the event of a tie, the final decision shall be made by the
Scholarship Committee.
Upon formal notification from the Scholarship Committee, recipients of the scholarship grant and their

respective parents or legal guardians shall sign the Scholarship Agreement as witnessed by members
of the Scholarship Committee. Recipients of the scholarship grant and their respective parents or legal

guardians shall be invited to participate in an award ceremony to formally receive the SDA Batch ’78
Scholarship Certificate.
VI. Monitoring
Recipients of the scholarship grant shall agree and strictly adhere to the following monitoring
guidelines and requirements. Failure to comply with any of these provisions shall be considered due
cause for termination of the scholarship grant and all its benefits. Once the scholarship grant is
terminated, the scholar shall have neither recourse nor legal right for reinstatement to the program.
The scholar shall submit a copy of grades for every grading period to the Scholarship Committee
and/or allow the Scholarship Committee to make a formal request of copies of their official school
records from the school administration.
The scholar shall maintain direct person to person contact with the Scholarship Committee at least
once a month through regular meetings at a designated time and place.
The scholar shall maintain a grade point average (GPA) of at least 85 for every grading period, with no
failing marks on any of the subjects.
If for any reason the scholar chooses to drop out of school, or is taken out of the scholarship program
with due cause, or temporarily discontinues attendance at SDA, or continuously fails to attend classes
unreasonably, the scholar loses all scholarship privileges and will not be reinstated to the program.
However, if the scholar drops out or temporarily discontinues attendance due to health reasons,
possible reinstatement shall be determined by the Scholarship Committee.
If the scholar fails to meet any or all of scholarship requirements, the option to re‐evaluate the
scholarship program, consider new applicants for the scholarship grant, or totally discontinue the
scholarship program, is at the discretion of the Scholarship Committee and donors of the said
program.

SDA Batch ’78 awards the scholarship grant on the assumption that the scholar possesses exemplary
good moral character. Therefore, should the scholar be subjected to any disciplinary measures

imposed by the school administration of St. Dominic Academy, or be involved in any felony or criminal
charges, the Scholarship grant and all its benefits shall be deemed terminated.

VII. Scholar’s Commitment and Participation

Prior to the announcement of the recipients of the scholarship grant, the selected scholars and their
parents or legal guardians shall be required to sign and comply with the terms and conditions of the
Scholarship Agreement.

The scholarship recipients shall agree to send a thank you letter to SDA Batch ’78 and allow his/her
pictures and other pertinent information to be included in the SDA Batch ’78 website or news
publication and/or any press releases.

The Scholars are expected to conduct themselves as model students living up to the ideals of the
SDABatch78 and the school, St. Dominic Academy.

VIII.Administrative
SDA Batch ’78 shall adopt the following administrative guidelines during the term of the scholarship
program:
Administrative costs incurred in the selection of scholars and implementation of the scholarship
program, including mailing costs, copying, printing, bank charges, telephone charges, etc. shall be for
the account of SDA Batch ’78 and shall be paid out of the funds specifically allocated for this
scholarship program.
Payment of monthly tuition fees and other school‐related fees shall be made directly to St. Dominic
Academy through the Scholarship Committee. The Scholarship Committee shall coordinate with the
school administration the mode and schedule of payments.
Acquisition of textbooks and school‐related materials and expenses shall be facilitated by the
Scholarship Committee for the scholar. If possible, arrangements to purchase all school‐related
materials shall be made by the Scholarship Committee with a known local school supply store.
Transportation Allowance in the amount of two‐thousand pesos (Php2,000 per school month) shall be
deposited to a bank account established under the scholar’s name by the Scholarship Committee
every last business day of the month. Scholar is allowed a maximum withdrawal of one‐thousand
pesos (php1,000) every 1st and 15th of the month. The scholar shall be responsible for all banking fees
and other requirements associated with the bank account established under the scholar’s name.
Summer Allowance of Php1,000 per month for April & May will be disbursed to the scholar by the
Scholarship Committee every 1st Monday of the month.
In all cases, the Scholarship Committee shall ensure all disbursements of funds are properly
documented and reported on a monthly basis to all participating alumni members and donors of this
scholarship program. Receipts for all purchases by the student/parent must be submitted to the

SDA Batch ’78 will acknowledge donors who contribute directly to the scholarship fund and honor
members’ pledges supporting this scholarship program. Donors pledging their support should tender

their contributions in a timely manner as indicated in their pledge forms submitted and on file.

In the event of pledging donors default on their contribution due to change in financial circumstances

or any reason whatsoever, it is the responsibility of the Scholarship Committee to evaluate and
determine continuance of the scholarship program.
The Scholarship Committee, in concurrence with the current alumni members shall periodically
evaluate the foregoing guidelines and make necessary amendments and/or revisions as deemed
necessary or appropriate.

officially registered thru Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) on May 12, 2009.

While the organization is fully committed to its charitable programs and activities, none of its members

shall be held personally liable to the scholars or any other party representing the scholars in the event
