6. Quick and Easy Print Print map as PDF at A3/A4 Landscape/Portrait Esri UK and Eduserv Seminar 2011
7. Esri UK and Eduserv Seminar 2011 Data Products Available OS Products – note the rasterisedMasterMap available at 2 scales OS Open Products – available in bite sized chunks making them easier to work with
8. Esri UK and Eduserv Seminar 2011 MasterMap Downloader Select either Topography or ITN layers Select all themes or specify which ones you want Road Network and/or Routing Info
9. Esri UK and Eduserv Seminar 2011 Download123456.zip Extract the zip to a new folder You should have a collection of files. Conditions.txt – all the license information and copyright stuff Contents – useful info about what you selected TOID files – ###-MM-topo.gml – the data in standard OS GML format
10. Esri UK and Eduserv Seminar 2011 Productivity Suite v2.1 Developed by esri UK and available as part of the Esri UK Chest/Eduserv agreement. - Loading and updating OS data, including: - MasterMap - NTF data - Can handle Change Only Updates for MasterMap - Building routable networks using Ordnance Survey Integrated Transport Network (ITN)
11. Esri UK and Eduserv Seminar 2011 Launch Productivity Suite v2.1 Launch Productivity Suite v2.1 Loads of tools – We want OS MasterMap Data Converter
12. Esri UK and Eduserv Seminar 2011 OS MasterMap Data Converter
13. Esri UK and Eduserv Seminar 2011 Select files/folder Process all the files from one order, great for batching.
14. Esri UK and Eduserv Seminar 2011 Choose your Geodatabase Select a storage type: ArcSDE – for multi-user access Personal GDB – based on Access and has a 2Gb size limit File GDB – similar to Personal GDB but unlimited size and uses binary file system (note – tables limited to 1Tb by default, but able to store 256 Tb)
15. Esri UK and Eduserv Seminar 2011 Create or add to GDB New Existing Connect to an existing GDB or create a new one. Adding to existing GDB is good as you can add new data to one centralised GDB and for a few other reasons as we will see shortly.......
16. Esri UK and Eduserv Seminar 2011 Choose a prefix Data Prefix – Specify a prefix for the data. This is useful if you plan to keep more than one MasterMap Download in the same GDB, the resulting files will have the prefix making tem easier to find.
17. Esri UK and Eduserv Seminar 2011 Select the feature types Specify what to convert: This section allows you greater control over exactly what is going to be converted. I tend to convert all topography options.
18. Esri UK and Eduserv Seminar 2011 Converting Options Change-only Updates Versioning control Remove Duplicates – handy if you have a large area with “chunking” this will merge features that appear in multiple chunks
19. Esri UK and Eduserv Seminar 2011 Logs and Working Dir’s Log Files Handy to know where the log files are if things go wrong
20. Esri UK and Eduserv Seminar 2011 Save a Profile Save Profile Save the profile if you know that you will be repeating the process and want to add more data into the same GDB
21. Esri UK and Eduserv Seminar 2011 Convert And they’re off! This may take some time.... Time for a brew. Error and warnings will be highlighted, check the log files for more details.
28. Esri UK and Eduserv Seminar 2011 Connect to GDB Launch ArcGIS10 Click the “add data” button and navigate to the GDB you created in Productivity Suite, you will see the data with the pre-fix. Select the features and “add”
30. Esri UK and Eduserv Seminar 2011 Get Symbology Symbology files are supplied with Productivity Suite and are available on the esri uk website (Myesriuk) Extract the symbology.zip and put the contents somewhere sensible that you will remember: C:rogram FilesrcGIS This should have the following files:
31. Esri UK and Eduserv Seminar 2011 Load Symbology Files Many methods of associating the data with the symbology, this is the one I tend to use: Add lyr file navigate to the layer files (c:prog files/ArcGIS/symbology or a copy of them next to the geodb) Add the layers you want for Area, Line,Point, Bdy...) Back in ArcGIS – double click the layer Select source tab and set data source Repeat
32. Esri UK and Eduserv Seminar 2011 Symbology Tips Set the annotation line style to “no color” Set the label (label tab) to active and the label field to “Text” Associate the boundary class theme to one of the options (note – you may not have a boundary feature in your downloaded data so may not see anything change) Remember to add the style file in the symbology folder to your ArcGIS installation folder C:/program files/arcgis/desktop10/styles
43. Digimap OpenStream in ArcGIS You should change the Data Frame Coordinate system to OSGB 36
44. Digimap OpenStrean in ArcGIS The products displayed will change as you zoom in and out Products include: MiniScale 1:250,000 Colour Raster VectorMap District OS StreetView

Notes de l'éditeur
Multiple data formats – raster and vector
Can do all files from 1 order (chunks) Cannot do files from multiple orders – well you can but you have to edit the name of the order (numbers)
This slide will describe the process of getting ITN data into ArcGIS. It should cover the use of Productivity Suite to convert the data, the use of the Prepare ITN data for Network Analyst tool and then viewing it in ArcGISPoints to highlight:Do not use remove duplicates on importPick as small an area as possibleYou will always get national coverage of RRIAlways use a file geodatabaseIt may take a very long time (up to an hour for a small area, 24 hours for a large area)It may run out of memory if you try and do something the size of England
The raw data loaded – note the RRI covers the UK but the actual road network is just a small area
The raw road network data –links and nodes with RRI
A lot of options to choose from
Use the Network Analyst toolbar to calculate routes
This slide will show the process needed to allow you to display MasterMap data that has been converted and is in OSGB 36 over the top of the built-in Esri Basemaps including the Bing aerial imagery. For most applications choosing the “Petroleum” shift should be sufficient accuracy. If higher accuracy is required then the OSTN02 transformation should be used.
Mismatch when MasterMap (OSGB 36) used with Bing Basemap
Need to set up transformation from WGS84 to OSGB 36 Use Petroleum or the OSTN02 for better accuracy
Now they line up
This slide will show how to use OpenStream data in ArcGIS desktop using the Add WMS layer
In ArcGIS, use the Add WMS Server interface to add the OpenStream URL, including your own API key
Initially it will appear in WGS 84
You need to change the Data Frame Coordinate system to OSGB 36
The products displayed will change as you zoom in and outProducts include:MiniScale1:250,000 Colour RasterVectorMap DistrictOS StreetView
Use ArcGIS.com to display OpenStream data as a basemap
Use the “Add Layer from Web” to add an OGC WMS Server. Enter you URL including the API key
