- 3. • To be able to identify common problems faced by teachers in classroom; OBJECTIVES: To be able to highlights Management behavior in Educ.; To be able discuss the things that you can do as a teacher in your school to promote positive behavior amongst students. • To be able to explain the causes of poor Students behavior.
- 4. WHAT IS MANAGEMENT BEHAVIOR? -It includes creating a positive environment for learning and uses strategies that encourage positive behaviour in schools. • is also about having effective ways to deal with poor behavior so that the child/student can learn from their own mistakes.
- 5. • Behavior is influenced by many things like: age, personality, interactions with others, home environment and gender. • Student behavior is the way children and young people behave at school. • In schools, there is often positive student behavior, poor student behavior and anti-social student behaviour. • POSITIVE behaviour includes cooperating, paying attention in class and sharing with classmates. POOR BEHAVIOR includes: talking when supposed to be working, being late from the class. • ANTISOCIAL behaviors is behavior that is harmful and not accepted in society, such as
- 6. PROBLEMS Faced by Teachers in Classroom 1. They may have to deal with uninterested students as they don’t know the importance of education.
- 7. PROBLEMS Faced by Teachers in Classroom 2. Disrespectful behavior from students is also a problem. -If teachers want to solve this problem, they should involve parents in this matter and encourage them to involved in their child’s educational issues.
- 8. PROBLEMS Faced by Teachers in Classroom 3. Teachers also complain about lack of parental cooperation and guidance with their child. -But in fact, parents start attacking teacher when they hear complain from their child against the teacher.

- 14. SOLUTIONS: Teachers have a great responsibility and to meet this responsibility, teachers need support and help. Parents and school administration should communicate properly with teachers for betterment of students and class discipline.

- 16. 10 Simple Ways to Improve Children’s Behavior Parents and teachers often wonder how to discipline a child with behavior problems. Although some children truly have challenging behaviors regardless of what strategies we try, many children just need to have the adults in their lives to make changes in the way they react, respond, or interact with them.

Verbally acknowledge children’s efforts -Tell your child/student(s) specifically what he/she did that you are proud of. For example, you can say “You were so focused on your math homework, Keep up the good work,”

Take an interest in your child’s/students’ interests - Ask them what they enjoy, get excited about their creations or accomplishments, ask them what they want to learn about, ask them their opinion about things, etc. - Let them choose topics of interest for certain activities.

Acknowledge your child/student(s) feelings with empathy - Be understanding when they are nervous because they are trying something for the first time, frustrated because a writing assignment is difficult for them. - “Why are you having such a hard time with this; it’s easy.” Instead, make empathetic statements like, “I understand that this assignment is frustrating for you” Also, let them know that you are there to help in any way you can.

- 32. RECOMMENDATIONS: 1. Teaching strategies may be revised in the context of student’s disruptive behaviour in order avoid it and minimize the impacts of disruptive behaviour. 2. Some scholarly persons may be detailed to visit the schools and deliver lectures periodically, keeping disruptive behaviour under consideration.
- 33. RECOMMENDATIONS: 3. Seminars for parents, teachers and students may be arranged on the topic of disruptive behaviour to highlight the impacts of student’s disruptive behaviour. 4. A ranking system may be introduced for behavior as marking bad, good, better and excellent behavior for students.
- 34. RECOMMENDATIONS: 5. The heads of schools may set some of rules and regulations for disruptive behaviour, which may help the teachers as rigid supports and guide lines. 6. Teaching methods may be made more motivational in order to attract students towards studies, the more they get involved in studies the more they behave appropriately.
- 35. CONCLUSIONS: • The researcher found from the research that the student’s disruptive behaviour is a big challenge in teaching-learning process in classrooms.

In schools, there is often positive student behaviour, poor student behaviour and anti-social student behaviour. Positive behaviour includes cooperating, paying attention in class and sharing with classmates. Poor behaviour includes talking when supposed to be working, being late to class. Antisocial behaviours is behaviour that is harmful and not accepted in PNG society, such as drug and alcohol use, graffiti and bullying.
- Teachers may have to face a lot of distractions in classroom daily. The most common problems faced by teachers in classroom include the following: They may have to deal with uninterested students or they may suffer from burden in absence of parents support. But good teachers always remain committed to their profession and try solving these problems. Teachers can overcome this problem by understanding what their students are interested in.
- Disrespectful behavior from students is also a problem. Especially teens of this era as they see disrespectful attitudes towards teachers in different movies. If teachers want to solve this problem, they should involve parents in this matter and encourage them to become involved in their child’s educational issues. When parents will become involved in all this, they will teach their child to respect their teachers.
- Teachers also complain about lack of parental cooperation and guidance with them. A student can become successful only when parents support his teachers. But in fact, parents start attacking teacher when they hear complain from their child against the teacher. Parents like to defend their child without knowing their child’s behavior and problems.
- One of the toughest competitors of teachers in classroom is the cell phone. Ringing bells and students texting will cause distraction. Although cell phones are strictly prohibited in classroom, some students still bring them regardless of the consequences. By if you are consistent with routine and rules you have in the classroom this would not be happen.

All of these strategies are positive in nature and will help you connect with your child/student(s) in a way that will increase their confidence, self-respect, and respect for you.

Get to know your child/students to know what they like.

- Using all of these strategies together will most likely lead to positive behavior changes over time. Although, there is no magic solution, as a mother, educator, and behavior specialist, I have personally found these evidenced-based strategies to be the most effective over 19 years in this field.
