Shibboleth is an open source single sign-on system developed by Internet2 that supports secure exchange of authentication and attributes between identity providers and service providers using SAML. The UK Access Management Federation is a UK federation for education and research that uses Shibboleth and delivers a WAYF service and shared policy. OpenAthens provides an outsourced identity and access management solution that supports multiple standards and federations to help institutions participate in federations while maintaining access to Athens resources.
