4. Is there a faster way?
Yes! Total Commander
• A file manager which displays two panels
• Same functionality as Windows Explorer [copy, cut, paste, delete, rename,
etc.]
• …but easier to use and more powerful
Also:
• Very popular in many parts of the world
• Multi-language: e.g. Chinese, Russian, Romanian, Indonesian, etc

5. #1 TC – Save Space on Screen (1)
• To copy a file from one folder to another
• In Windows Explorer we usually open twice „My Computer”, one for source
place and one for the destination:

6. #1 TC – Save Space on Screen (2)
To copy a file from one folder to another
• TC comes already with two panels, which occupy less room than two
instances of “My Computer” [Windows Explorer]

7. #1 TC – Save Space on Screen (3)
• TC can help organize file info better, by displaying Folder Tabs. Folder Tabs
offer two main advantages:
• Save “real estate” on screen,
• Increase productivity: navigate easier back & forth among the folders
used frequently. TC “remembers” which tabs were left open last time, so
we don‟t need to open them again each morning

8. #2 TC – Productivity (1)
• History: each tab keeps a history of visited places, making
easy to navigate back to a certain place

9. #2 TC – Productivity (2)
Multiple renaming:
Format file names + append their last update [useful for versioning]:
E.g.: bradut s.jpg -> Bradut S - 20111108.jpg
Anonymise file names:
E.g.: bradut s.jpg -> Image 1.jpg

10. #2 TC – Productivity (3)
Synchronize directories [folders]:
• Easily compare files from two folders to see which ones are
newer or of different sizes. Useful when multiple people share
documents in a common folder but also work on copies kept
on their personal folders.
