2. Introduction
• In the spring of 2015, a massive avalanche caused serious
damage in Afghanistan’s Panjshir Province, located about 60
miles from Kabul. To fund immediate assistance for those
impacted by this disaster, the Bayat Foundation donated
$100,000. Ehsanollah Bayat, who established the
organization, allocated the funding to support emergency
relief operations for as long as they are needed. He also hopes
that the funding can improve general conditions and increase
access to the region for more effective aid delivery in the
future.
Mr. Bayat’s mobile telephone company, Afghan Wireless
Communication Company, also speeded relief efforts by
deploying mobile base stations and networking equipment.
3. Relief for Afghan Avalanche
• This equipment will improve communication with
the remote villages located in Panjshir Province,
many of which remain cut off by roadblocks caused
by heavy snow. These villages are also threatened by
the possibility of more avalanches.
Individuals interested in supporting emergency
relief efforts for the people living in Panjshir
Province can make donations directly through the
foundation online at BayatFoundation.org. The
website also has information on the other important
Afghan aid projects spearheaded by the
organization.
