This technical webinar explores how to use legacy Zenith BDRs with the eFolder Cloud. Partners can utilize the safety of the eFolder Cloud, while planning the eventual upgrade of field deployed units. eFolder engineer Tom Brown provides detailed technical details on how to upgrade the Zenith units and point them to eFolder.
NOTE: This assumes you have already added the Agent to BackupOpen Shadow Protect , First thing you want to do, assuming you already have connected to an Agent, is to Create a new destination. Click the Destinations Tab, then Add, In the Destination path, enter the destination of the directory on the BDR where you are going to be putting the backups, add the creds uses and hit OK
Next click the Backup Jobs Tab, then click Add and Next. If you have existing jobs, you should copy the data to an external drive to preserve it, and start a new job. You cannot change the schedule of the existing jobs to Continuous Incrementals, which is required by eFolder.
Select the Drive(s) you wish to backup and click Next
This step auto populates the path that you created earlier. Verify that it is correct and hit Next
This is where you set the schedule for the backups. Normally the backups are set to run an hour before and after the normal business hours, to catch people who work early or late.
First and most important, click Continuous Incrementals, then remove the check from Sun on the VSS Incremental Backups. Ensure all days are clicked in the Additional Incremental Backups section, then set your backup hours. NOTE: We recommend setting this to one hour before and one hour after normal business hours. Next determine how many backups you wish to run and put the number of minutes between them in the box below the hours. I.E. If you one 1 an hour, put in 60. Finally, ensure that Use VSS is checked and hit next.
This box allows you to set the Compression Method and if you want to password protect (encrypt) the image. It also lets you split the images into smaller sizes, but this is NOT recommended. Click Next, then click Finish
This screen shows your completed Job
At this point, you need to open Image Manager and change the Retention Policies, this is an EXTREMELY IMPORTANT step.
After you start ImageManager, click the File Menu -> Connect to Server. Server is localhost and leave the Password Blank, click Connect
For each path in the list click the entry to highlight it, then click the Edit Button.
VERY IMPORTANT: Set the time of day to begin to 12:05:00 AM Set the Minutes between Collapse to 1440 (24x60) Set the minimum number of days to keep Incrementals to 7 Set the minimum number of days to keep “-cd” files to at least 35 days Make sure that you enable the “Keep redundant collapse files” option (check it)
Your ImageManager configuration should now look like this:

On the Notifications and Bandwidth tabs, adjust parameters as desired.
On the Advanced tab, enable the “Automatically Install Updates” and Treat minor Versions as Major Versions, then click SAVE. NOTE: you may get a popup saying that your retention settings have changed and if you continue, your old data will be destroyed. Click yes, this is a new setup.
