1. “ Culture is more often a source of conflict than of synergy. Cultural differences are a nuisance at best and often a
disaster. ”
Culture is learned, we are not born with a culture; we are born into a culture. Culture is dynamic and interactive. It is subjective
and attribute a meaning to what we see. Objective or tangible aspects of culture include tools, roads, television programming,
architecture, and other physical artifacts. Subjective or intangible aspects of culture include norms, values, ideas, customs, and
other meaningful symbols. We have various cultural sterotyping like the Humility of the FRENCH,the Generosity of the
DUTCH,the Candor of the JAPANESE,the Charm of the GERMAN,the Punctuality of the SPANIARD,the Compassion of the
ENGLISH,the Team Spirit of the ARAB,the Gentle Tact of the AUSTRALIAN,the Efficiency of the RUSSIAN,the Discipline of the
ITALIAN,the Patience and Language Ability of the AMERICAN etc.
Culture is the way of life of a group of people. Included in culture are language, values, practices, religion, customs, beliefs and
traditions. One of the characteristic of culture is that it is an adaptation to the environment. It is developed through interactions
with other people. The family is the primary agent of cultural diffusion because the parents and older relatives act as the first
teachers of values and socially acceptable practices to the younger generation.

2. The social life in Pakistan is very easy to understand. Social customs and traditions are very simple . People are very conscious
about their social tradition and feel pride in following and observing them. our classical literature reflects more or less common
background. Shah Abdul Latif Bhittai from Sindh, Rehman Baba from NWFP, Bhulley Shah from Punjab and Gul Khan
Naseer from Baluchistan have much in common. They all gave message of love through their poetry and prose.
Language is a process of free creation; its laws and principles are fixed, but the manner in which the principles of generation
are used is free .
‘’Communication leads to community, that is, to understanding, intimacy and mutual valuing.’’- Rollo May
Language and culture are co-related. Language / mother language of an area tells everything about its culure and population.
There is a strong bond between them. When it comes to mother language , it has a great impact on an individual’s life. Mother
language has a very powerful impact in the formation of the individual. Our first language, the beautiful sounds of which one
hears and gets familiar with before being born while in the womb, has such an important role in shaping our thoughts and
emotions. A child’s psychological and personality development will depend upon what has been conveyed through the mother
tongue. When a person speaks their mother tongue, a direct connection establishes between heart, brain and tongue. Our
personality, character, modesty, shyness, defects, our skills, and all other hidden characteristics become truly revealed through
the mother tongue because the sound of the mother tongue in the ear and its meaning in the heart give us trust and confidence.
“If you talk to a man in a language he understands, that goes to his head. If you talk to him in his language, that goes
to his heart,” - Nelson Mandela.
Mother tongue is an indicator of cultural identity. A child connects to his parents, family, relatives, culture, history, identity and
religion through his mother tongue. Native language links the child with the culture of the society the child comes from and
shapes his identity. Mother tongue is one of the most powerful tools used to preserve and convey culture and cultural ties.
Children who are unaware of their culture, their language, and their history will lose confidence in themselves, the family,
society and the nation to which they belong and will have no other option then seeking an alternate identity. A child will
identify himself with the language and culture he knows best. Keeping mother tongue in a foreign country does not happen
spontaneously. Instead, it is an achievement that requires commitment and determination, especially from the family. Parents
must establish a strong home language policy and make consistent efforts to help their children develop good literacy skills in
their first language.
