Reflecting upon your own teaching methods and learning how to implement new
approaches
Producing an outline of a scheme of work/project for geography year 3 in
groups of up to 4.
Developing a simple lesson plan from the above mentioned scheme of
work/project
Receiving feedback from both other participants and trainers
Becoming familiar with the impact for teachers & learners of using
assessment for learning successfully
Having more ideas to develop children’s writing skills and integrating this into
other areas
Raising confidence in teaching areas beyond the limits of a curriculum

#3 METHODOLOGY
The training will encourage:
self-evaluation of the teachers’ current teaching
practices and offer practical solutions and alternative
approaches in the following areas:
planning units of work/projects in Geography for Y3
implementing assessment for learning as part of the
teaching & learning process
developing children’s writing skills from a cross-
curricular perspective.

#4 EVALUATION
Participants will be evaluated through:
Active participation during the sessions.
The production of a practical GEOGRAPHY lesson.
The production of a scheme of work/PROJECT on geography in year 3
The implementation of assessment for learning with feedback from
participants/trainers
the design of an activity to develop children’s writing skills
