2. Front Cover
To attract our audience to our front cover we wanted to
create something as eye-catching as possible. The main
inspiration for our front cover was INDIE magazine as it
gave off the grunge / indie vibe we wanted for our cover.
By using one model and little text on the front cover we
are challenging the conventions of other magazines. Also,
we styled the model to follow the trends that specifically
appeal to indie rock listeners such as vintage or grunge.
INDIE magazine appears to have a quirky feel by using
vibrant colour schemes and the way their models are
presented fit the most up to date indie trends so this is
what we aimed for when making our cover for our
audience. As you can see we stuck to a specific colour
scheme of blue black and white due to the colours the
model was wearing so that it would all compliment each
other. Also, we used words such as EXCLUSIVE and KEEP
UP which would attract the audience straight away as it
would intrigue them as to what information is inside our
magazine.
3. Contents Page
For our contents page we wanted to use an interesting
layout but also simple for our audience to read and
identify different information. This layout follows
conventions of other magazines although we have
challenged this by using various images and adding more
colour than usual. This will attract our audience because
its not following the typical conventions and will appeal
strongly to both genders. The colour red was used to
make specific information and images stand out more.
The red also works well against the other neutral colours
as it adds that pop the contents page needed and will
appeal to both male and females. Also, we split the
contents into different sections that will attract our
audience as it will show that our magazine is organized
and easy to refer from page to page. Further more,
specific words have been highlighted in red and made
bold which will stand out to the reader and make them
want to know more.
4. Double Page Spread
For our double page spread we
used an image where the models
appear relaxed and comfortable.
They are also dressed in vintage
clothing which makes them
appear relatable which will seem
attractive to our audience. The
double page is vibrantly
coloured and the colour scheme
matches the models clothing
which compliments the page
nicely. Furthermore, we
challenged the conventions of
other music magazines by
adding polaroid's to our double
page spread. Polaroid's fit in
with the theme of vintage and
grunge style we wanted for our
magazine and we also used
typography to create a sense of
realism.
The overall layout of the double page spread follows the
general conventions of other magazines and this will
appeal to our audience due to the pages composition.
Also the fact we have used a different colour schemes for
each section of our magazine is challenging the
conventions of other music magazines which will appeal
to our audience as its different to other magazines.
