13. Elegio e-Vote idea analysis:
-Allows for a “Wow” demo effect ?
It is the first technology for e-voting enabling people to vote uniquely & reliably being strongly identified without
pre-registration, with ID attributes verification (localization for example, etc.).
Possible demo : during the Mobile Word Congress, participants could vote on their smartphone/laptops/tablets.
And/or on the GSMA booth, volunteers could participate to a vote displayed on a projected screen.
-Is it commercially viable ?
Already, current Elegio customers request for a long time the ability to vote from a smartphone or a tablet.
However with current voter authentication technologies, this was not practically feasible (see slide n4). Mobile
Connect brings the right features that not only allow for strong authentication of voters but also eliminates all
hardware and software installation barriers.
-Use features of the Mobile Connect APIs and SDKs ?
Our app makes uses of course the base authentication service. It uses also (or intends to use) :
-Mobile Connect API
-the discovery service (required when using the app from a tablet or laptop)
-check of ID attributes (use of header enrichment), authorization
-Mobile Connect logo API (button display on screens)
-use of multiple authenticators according to context of voter (mobile or laptop , type of election):
SMS+URL/LOA2,USSD/LOA3, Sim’s applet (use of secure element)
-Use of predefined endpoints : authentication, token, user info
-Is it creative ?
What creative is the ability to do a serious reliable e-voting by combining Mobile Connect (as a strong
authentication mean suppressing user’s hardware requirements : smartcards, readers), with an
anonymous voting solution. Actually, the use of Mobile Connect, in our e-voting context, is for, the first
time, a concrete enabler for the realization of our 2014 e-voting patent we have filed. It has never been
done before !
