- This training module will introduce the Helieon™ sustainable light module and its key features and benefits.
- Helieon is an LED light source that turns and locks into place, emulating traditional lighting sockets and allowing users to alter beam angle, color temperature or light output without removing or replacing the luminaire. It combines industry-leading solid-state lighting technology from Bridgelux with innovative, easy-to-use interconnect technology from Molex. The Helieon Sustainable Light Module is changing the way LED lighting solutions are used. Emulating the familiar bulb and socket, the Helieon light source and socket system delivers effortless installation, interchangeability and upgradeability, allowing manufacturers to deliver a variety of lighting effects from a single luminaire design and take advantage of future LED technology improvements, pre or post installation. Lighting environments can now be easily changed or adapted by switching beam angles, color temperatures or light output at the module level, without any change to the luminaire, just like changing a light bulb.
- Helieon is an integrated solid state lighting solution for OEM fixture manufacturers, lighting designers and architects. It has multiple product options compatible with a single thermal and electronic driver system design. The separable socketed plug-and-play solution can be easily installed with a turn-and-click installation process. Uniform high-quality illumination has beam control optics for narrow, medium, wide beam angle. High system efficacy enables luminaires with operating efficiencies of >50 lm/W.
- The Helieon solution simplifies the design integration effort and accelerates time to market. It enables flexibility to change the lighting experience post installation. Its separation of source and fixture emulates traditional lighting with a familiar turn and click installation process. It delivers clean white light without pixilation for precision lighting effects. It meets or exceeds global regulatory requirements such as Energy Star, Title 24, Part L and others. It also reduces environmental and disposal issues and delivers a true sustainable solution.
- Helieon is a two-piece design. The light socket or lamp holder is permanently fastened into the luminaire. The light module is inserted into the socket with a push to make the electrical connections and a quarter turn to lock the module in place. The Helieon module combines a highly efficient solid-state light source with beam control optics and a robust thermal, mechanical and electrical interconnect. The Helieon module can also accept trim rings to customize the appearance, as well as secondary optics to deliver an unlimited range of lighting effects. The Helieon socket can be easily incorporated into a wide variety of luminaire designs. Pre-wired for easy electrical connection, the socket mounts to the heat sink or luminaire housing with three M3 screws.
- The Helieon lighting module can be used for a wide range of solid state lighting applications, such as recessed down lighting in residential and commercial buildings, task and accent lighting, spot and track lights, troffers and interior area lighting, retail and display lights, hospitality lighting, architectural lighting, decorative lighting, museum lighting, etc.
- The Helieon family includes a choice of 800- or 1200-lm light modules that the company rate as roughly comparable to 45W and 75W incandescent bulbs. The modules come in a choice of 3000K warm white or 4100K neutral white color temperature . And the family includes a choice of 24º, 32º, or 50º beam angles.
