Know-What-Learn
K-W-L 
• Today we are going to learn a reading strategy 
called KWL. 
• K stands for what I know about a subject; 
• W is for what I want to know about the 
subject, and 
• L is for what I learned. 
• The purpose of this strategy is to recall 
information. It is very useful when you are 
going to be tested on certain material.
