3. MAT T H E W 5:13-16 (NIV)
"You are the salt of the earth. But if the salt loses
its saltiness, how can it be made salty again? It is
no longer good for anything, except to be thrown
out and trampled by men. 14 You are the light of
the world. A city on a hill cannot be hidden. 15
Neither do people light a lamp and put it under a
bowl. Instead they put it on its stand, and it gives
light to everyone in the house. 16 In the same way,
let your light shine before men, that they may see
your good deeds and praise your Father in heaven.

4. MAT T H E W 5:14-16 (TPT)
Your lives are like salt among the people. But if you,
like salt, become bland, how can your ‘saltiness’ be
restored? Flavourless salt is good for nothing and will
be thrown out and trampled on by others. Your lives
light up the world. Let others see your light from a
distance, for how can you hide a city that stands on a
hilltop? And who would put a lamp and hide it in an
obscure place? Instead it is placed where everyone in
the house can benefit from its light. So don’t hide
your light! Let it shine brightly before others, so that
the commendable things you do will shine as light
upon them, and then they will give you praise to your
5. JO H N 8:12 (NIV)
When Jesus spoke again to the people, he said, "I
am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will
never walk in darkness, but will have the light of
life."

“Christians have been blaming the meat (of
society) for going rotten when the preserving salt
has been taken out of it and the house for getting
darker when the light has been removed. It is time
for Christians to realise their responsibility to be
salt and light in society.” (John Stott)
