3. Target Audience
In order to carry out research, you need to do some target
audience research. This helps find out what things your
audience likes and helps you to adapt your product to suit
your audience.
4. Primary and secondary research
Primary research is research which you find out yourself. This
method may be the best as it will be up to date and will be in
the area you choose it to be and it will also be accurate.
On the other hand secondary research is research which is
carried out by someone else. A problem with this may be that
it may not be up to date and may not be accurate as it may
not be accurate questions for your specific genre or target
audience.
5. Genre
The genre of your product is important to find out first as you
base all your research and planning around it. A genre is the
type of thing you are making. For example, films have different
genres such as horror and comedy.
6. Competitors products
To help with research, looking at competitors products is
helpful as you can see what is already on the market and you
can also look for a gap in the market.
7. Qualitative and quantitative
Qualitative data is when you do a questionnaire and the
questions require detailed answers with thoughts and opinions
or you could receive qualitative data from things such as
books. Quantities data includes quantities such as numbers
and data.
8. Codes and conventions
Codes and conventions are the main things that relate to the
certain genre. For example in horrors you would relate it with
blood and gore.
10. Actors and crew
When planning you need to organize your actors and
crew in advance so you can arrange times to carry out
filming.
11. Location recce
A location recce is a legal form where you fill out
details about the location where you are filming. It is
important to fill out a location recce as the actors and
crew need to know where to meet. Also, if anything
happens whilst out filming, people will know where to
find you.
12. Script and storyboard
It is important to create a script so the actors know
what to say and so you can practice beforehand. It
also helps you realize if you have gone wrong with the
order of things. A storyboard is important so you can
plan out the order of your scenes.
13. Health and safety
It is important to consider health and safety when
planning. For example, you shouldn’t choose
somewhere like a building site to film as it is
dangerous, or use dangerous props etc.
14. Risk assessments
Risk assessments are necessary to prevent any
injuries or risks happening. In a risk assessment you
list the possible risks that could happen and the ways
in which you can prevent them.
15. Actor release form
An actor release form includes the information that
you need on your actor and heir acceptance for you to
use the footage in your film.
16. Equipment
It is important to create a list of equipment you need
so you don’t forget anything when filming. If you forgot
something, you may not be able to carry on with
filming and it may be difficult to reschedule.
17. Contact numbers
When filming its important to have contact numbers of
the actors and crew in case something happens
where you need to contact a member of their family.
18. Plan B
There should always be a plan B when filming in case
something goes wrong where you cant film in a
particular location or your genre isn't fitting right.
