Oracle Cloud Revenue Management (RMCS) is a centralized, automated revenue management product that enables you to address the ASC 606
and IFRS 15 accounting standard Revenue from Contracts with Customers. Revenue Management provides a configurable framework to
automate the identification and creation of customer contracts and performance obligations, their valuations, and the resulting accounting
entries. It also lets you recognize revenue over time or at a point in time.
RMCS works with any source application and is integrated with
1. Oracle Financials Cloud,
2. Project Financial Management Cloud, and
3. Oracle E-Business Suite (EBS) Release 12.1.3 or higher.
4. RMCS solution also provides robust integration with third party applications through a file-based data import integrated workbook. Data
from the various source systems is processed and managed centrally in Revenue Management Cloud.
Additional Features
• RMCS generates accounting for performance obligation liability, discount liability , contract asset, and revenue.
• RMCS facilitates audit and analysis through action history and seeded reports.
• This co-existence solution provides out-of-the-box integration with Oracle E-business suite Service Contracts, Order Management and
Receivables in order to bring in source document lines from upstream systems.
And for this integration to work , Reference data, such as Customers and Inventory Items, need to be synchronized
between Oracle E-Business Suite and RMCS.
Introduction and Features
Note – In this presentation we will only discuss the Integration between EBS and RMCS and not the
functionality of RMCS
4. Bizinsight Consulting Inc
1. Revenue will be managed in RMCS instead of Oracle E-Business Suite.
2. RMCS enables you to address the core principle of IFRS 15/ASC 606 through the
5 steps.
3. Oracle E-Business Suite Receivables will serve as a billing product and will track
the Oracle Receivables balance.
4. Oracle E-Business Suite products namely Service Contracts and Order
Management can use the E-Business Suite Receivables product for Billing and
RMCS for Revenue recognition.
5. Third party applications can integrate with RMCS directly.
Integration Feature Overview
5. Bizinsight Consulting Inc
Integration Data /Data Source - There are three types of integrated
data in Revenue Management:
1. Contract-related information such as sales order lines.
2. Billing-related information, such as sales invoices.
3. Satisfaction-related information such as product shipment and
fulfillment, or project milestone completion.
NOTE - Data from the various source systems is processed and
managed centrally in Revenue Management.

Items
Integration between Oracle EBS and RMCS Leverage
1. Oracle Business Events
2. Concurrent Programs.
Business event configuration to Invoke Web services of RMCS environment. Fusion public
web services are utilized to automate communication between Oracle E-Business Suite
and Revenue Management Cloud Service. This is implemented using Business Events and
this invokes Web Service Type Subscription, via Service Invocation Framework .
Below are 3 Business events that are configured for this Integration..
1. oracle.apps.wf.ar.vrm.coexist.fileupload.invoke - Used for uploading the data file
to the universal content manager server from E-Business Suite.
2. oracle.apps.wf.ar.vrm.coexist.submitess.invoke - Used for spawn ESS Job request
in RMCS .Oracle E-Business Suite Receivables will spawn the "Load Interface for
file import" ESS job to import the billing data into RMCS based on the billing
data file generated and uploaded to universal content manager by E-Business
Suite.
3. oracle.apps.wf.ar.vrm.coexist.essJobStatus.invoke - Used for spawn ESS Job
request in RMCS . Oracle E-Business Suite Receivables will check the status of
the ESS job ( "Load Interface for file import" ) and then record the status in
Oracle E-Business Suite Receivables accordingly.
6. Data Import into RMCS
To import data from EBS Receivables, Order Management, and Service Contracts into
Revenue Management, we need to run following Concurrent Programs.
1. Extract Revenue Basis Data
1. Run this Concurrent program from the EBS application that you want to
extract data from.
2. This Program will extract the transaction data of the source application,
which were not extracted in the prior runs and funnel the data to Revenue
Management Cloud Service canonical tables on E-Business Suite
2. Create Revenue Management Data Export File
1. Run this Concurrent program from the EBS application that you want to
extract data from.
2. This Concurrent Program will gather the above extracted information and
prepare the data file.
3. The data file will be created in the UTL_FILE_DIRECTORY.
4. The system takes the file from the UTL_FILE_DIRECTORY and places it on the
universal content manager server.
5. This system will also spawn ESS Job in the fusion environment ("Load
Interface for file import") with the necessary parameters which would
import the data from the data file into RMCS canonical tables.
7. 1. Run this concurrent program to create the billing data file from EBS
Receivables.
2. This process Generate the data file with Billing Document Data for
Data Reconciliation in Oracle E-Business Suite Receivables. The data file
contains billing transaction details such as Account Date, Billing Amounts,
etc…
3. This Program extracts the billing information to a data file, which were not
extracted previously.
4. The data file will be created in the UTL_FILE_DIRECTORY.
5. The system takes the file from the UTL_FILE_DIRECTORY and places it on the
universal content manager server.
6. The system will also spawn ESS Job in the Fusion environment
("Load Interface for file import") with the necessary parameters which
would import the data from the data file into Revenue Management
Cloud Service canonical tables.
3. Create Billing Data File
Data Import into RMCS
8. After extracting the data from EBS, complete the following steps in Revenue Management:
1. Validate and correct the source data in Revenue Management:
• Run the Validate Customer Contract Data process.
2. Correct validation errors using the Correct Contract Document Errors in Spreadsheet task.
• Run the Identify Customer Contracts process to identify and create contracts and to recognize revenue.
Data Validation in RMCS
9. The Create Accounting process creates accounting entries for performance obligations in accounting contracts in Revenue Management based on the sales
cycle data imported from EBS Order Management, Service Contracts, and Receivables. You can transfer the accounting entries from Revenue Management to
EBS General Ledger through a flat file.
To create the accounting entries and transfer them to EBS General Ledger, complete the following steps:
1. Within Oracle Financials Cloud, navigate to the Manage Profile Options task.
2. Set the Enable Transfer to Oracle EBS GL profile option to Yes.
3. Navigate to the Manage Subledger Accounting task from Setup and Maintenance. For the subledger Revenue Management, set the transfer option to
Oracle EBS GL.
4. Run the Create Accounting process. The process posts the accounting entries to a flat file. The file is available for further processing in EBS General Ledger.
5. Run the EBIZ GL:Import Journal Entries From Oracle Fusion Subledger Accounting process in EBS General Ledger to trigger the accounting entries to be
posted into EBS General Ledger.
Transferring data to EBS General Ledger
10. The Create Revenue Management Data Export File process extracts all required and commonly used data elements.
To extract additional data elements not captured by the standard process, use the transformation hook provided by the Create Revenue Management Data
Export File process. With this transformation hook you can extract:
1. Additional data elements from within EBS
2. Additional data elements from external locations such as legacy applications and data warehouses
The transformation hook then populates the values in the interface tables.
You can write custom code to select values from the specified table or view and populate the values in the generic columns. These additional data
elements can be used in Revenue Management as configurable attributes in defining rules.
